Her jaw dropped as they entered a vast room. Her thunderstruck expression was aggravated by the sight of two freaky looking people and a cat. She blinked, a little disoriented. Her thoughts whirled on making a run for it. “I- Irène?” she remarked, her flabbergasted expression making her feel dumbfounded. She cowered into the maid’s side, realizing it was only the nerves.

Rocus couldn't help but grin slyly at the sight of the girl. He thought he had shown weakness, but now seeing Bree before him... It made him feel superior. She looked so sweet, so innocent, so breakable. He longed to have her all to himself, to taste her blood; just the sight of her brought his blood lust into overdrive. He had to look down so that no one could see the hunger shining through his eyes.

"Greetings, Bree," he murmured softly, outstretching a hand.

It was amazing how such a simple gesture for her held behind it so much power for me. I could feel her pulse beating against my skin, and it felt as if I was being taunted with her blood right then and there. My breath came in shallow gasps when our hands separated and I suddenly found myself staring hungrily at the veins of her neck. I had to rip my eyes away, focusing on Irene as she struggled with the cat. I stumbled over to her.

"Do you... Do you need some help with that?"

Isn’t she supposed to be some kind of animal manipulator extraordinaire? thought Bree. Not with what I’ve seen so far am I able to believe that. Oh, well... If I see anything I haven’t seen before later on, I’ll throw a dollar at it. No matter how wealthy she could already, possibly be... Her gut tightened in fear. And I’m supposed to impress this lady? Her gut now hurt very bad, indeed. Like someone just gave her a square kick in the stomach...

When I asked if she needed help, I didn't really mean it literally; I was just trying to be polite. If the cat wasn't good with her, it would certainly tear me apart. Oh well, can't back down now... I thought with a regretful sigh, cautiously moving closer.

"Here, kitty kitty..." I cooed, trying to make my voice pleasing for the animal. I grabbed the cat by its scruff, angling my body as far away from the creature as possible.

They’re in here.” She told the person on the line. “One wants a tour of the whole ground level... I was about to bring the other one, as well. I beg your pardon? Ah... Mm-hm... alright, then. I’ll see you around... Gotcha. Adios!” She pressed another button and unhand the device. “It’s one of my maids called Madelyn. She just told me that Nightmare wasn’t getting all of the water intake he requires, lately. Poor kitty. Madelyn thinks of adding warm water to Nightmare’s dry food, along with chicken or vegetable broth. She told me I could leave Nightmare here with her empty dish while I go tour with you guys. I just hope Nightmare doesn’t disrespect her, too.”

Her heart fluttered like a hummingbird’s wings. She wasn’t unimportant to Irène, but that did not make her any more cheeky or presumptuous, and that made her an absolute nobody. And she prayed to one day be less high-strung and uptight, all the time. But, she already waited for that objective to become existent for a persistent amount of time. Even, if she racked her brains for the memory, she would just presumedly believe that she’d had that desire for as long as she could remember. Bree! Bree, snap out of it! a small voice from the back of her mind hollered out to the rest of it. You’re losing your train of thought!

I nodded with relief, glad for having earned Irene's approval and also hoping that the cat was only cranky because of dehydration. I had enough things to deal with as it was; a vicious cat on my case was the last thing I needed.

I set the cat on the ground beside its dish as gently as possible. "Perhaps you could consider getting it a shock collar?" I suggested grimly, "I hear that those help train cats a great deal."

I shrugged indifferently, although inwardly rolling my eyes. However, I kept quiet so not to accidentally say the wrong thing again.

As she made her way towards the door, I followed close behind, standing parallel to Bree. I found myself actually a little anxious to see the rooms. Now with this girl here, I wouldn't necessarily get first pick. I also had to watch myself so that I didn't be too insistent about my living conditions and give something away... But now I had a new consideration. I wanted a room next to Bree so that I had easier access. I thought she may just be my newest victim, although it was important I consulted with the cult first. Wherever they were...

Bree nodded to Irène’s back. She wondered why Irène was reluctant in opening the subject a little more. The woman knew they had questions about the guest rooms, nonetheless. Bree then sighed gustily, trying to ignore what she thought was Irène’s slim withstanding of goodwill. Well, it wasn’t like she’s shown a hint of hostility, yet. You’re lucky to be seeing her and she respects you... she thought to herself. Bree eased and tried to smile, but she felt it mangle faintly over her face. She reduced it to nothing and decided to look around, instead. It was a much easier thing to do rather than trying to smile and act cool.

I tipped my head in confusion. When I decided to apply for the internship here, I hadn't really thought of what I would actually be doing. In fact, all I had been thinking of since we got here was where I would stay. It struck me with surprise and curiosity now that it appeared her intentions were not to show us a guest room. Although, I also felt impatient... I was growing jittery because it had been nearly 5 hours since I last had a cigarette. But that could wait, because I would need to control my self better from now on anyway.

Following Bree's gaze, I decided to look around as well. "Mrs. McClinsey, it's quite the beautiful home you have," I complimented. "It's so fortunate that I was welcomed here. Thank you."

"You're welcome, ma'am," I said with a courteous nod. I was very pleased to be able to be free to choose my own room. I immediately started my way forwards, though slowing my pace to keep an eye on Bree. I would have to casually look at all the rooms until she chose hers, and then I would claim the nearest one to hers that fit my conditions.

She walked around and finally turned one of the knobs to systematically investigate what rooms in a Victorian mansion could possibly look like. Her mouth fell open when she kicked the whole mood of the room into sight. The wall hangings were beautiful artwork, and everything else she saw that stood out were gargoyles, heraldic emblems, and candlesticks. She raised an eyebrow, flourishing her quite puzzled and disgruntled expression. Who knew this was Irène’s actual style? I used to think she was so... bright. I thought she was an absolute angel, no wonder she could’ve flown instantly into my commendations, like that. She took herself so lightly, back then, just a short while ago... She closed the door to the spooky room brusquely with a heavy sigh and snapped her mouth shut from ever falling slack like that, again. She bit the inside of her cheek in an anxiously nervous manner until her mouth tasted of blood. I don’t understand this...
