Re: Greek Mythology Club
Ouranous/Uranus:
He was the Titain/god of the Sky. His wife was Gaia titain of the Earth. They had kids (Cyclopes, Gaints, Titans.) Ouranous did like his kids so he inprisened them in a Hole/ Tartar. Gaia didnt like it because she was a good titain. She loved everyone, so she told her eldest/ or youngest not sure son to kill his father. The son was Kronous. Gaia told Kronuos that if he killed his father he would have to let his brothers and sisters go.
Kronous:
Kronous Married his mother after killing his dad. He didn't let his brothers and sisters go, which again Gaia didnt like. Well Kronos knew that his kids would be stonger then him (Cyclopse, Gaints, Titains and Gods ), so he ate all his kids. Gaia hated him so she feed him a rock wraped in a blanket and said that it was zeus. Well Kronos ate it. Gaia hid Zeus in a cave. Zeus got strong and grew up. He came back and punched Kronous and he threw up all his kids. The kids including (Hades, Posidon, and Zeus) killed there father and threw the remains in the pit of tatara or something.
Zeus:
Zeus knew that his kids would be stronger then him, so he never ever had a child with another God, he only had kida with Humans, so they weren't stronger then him

Yes. xD
Katiegirl97 wrote:Zeus was the son of Cronos ( I'm not sure if it's spelled with a K or a C.) Who came after Aphrodite, I would tell you how about I am not going to because it's Exstemly wierd O.O.
I sometimes hate Roman Mythology because they change the names and now I forget which mythology is Ouranos or Uranus in, they are both the same guy though
Yep, then Gaia didnt like it so she gave Kronos a Rock and said it was Zeus, she hid zeus till he was strong and then there are two stories on it Zeus punched Kronous and threw up the kids and then they killed Kronous and then the other is Gaia poisoned Kronos so he would throw the kids up
It can be spelled with either. It was originally Greek, so there's not really a right way to spell it in English. / Just a bit. o.0
I think Greek is Ouranos. I'm just too lazy to type it out or think about the spelling so I write Uranus instead. xD
The way I heard it was that Zeus got himself a job as Kronos's cup bearer and then replaced his nectar and ambrosia with some mixture of mustard and something else or something and it made him throw up the other gods.

Re: Greek Mythology Club
Here's the way I heard it.
First, there was Chaos. Eventually out of Chaos was formed Gaia and Ouranos, the earth and the sky. They had kids together: Three Hecatoncheires (or Hundred-Handed Ones), three Cyclopes, and twelve(?) Titans. I'm almost positive Kronos was the youngest. Ouranos didn't trust his kids and forced them back into Gaia's womb, and chained them up there. Somehow Gaia managed to get Kronos out and he defeated his father, chopping him into pieces with his own scythe, which then became Kronos's. (Aphrodite's story is here too but we won't get into that.) Kronos freed his brothers and sisters and became king of the Titans. He married his sister Rhea and they had six children: Hestia, Hera, Demeter, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. Afraid that his children would overthrow him as he had done to his own father, Kronos swallowed each of them as they were born, until finally Rhea hid Zeus, the youngest, away and gave Kronos a rock wrapped in blankets instead. Kronos somehow didn't notice, swallowed it, and Zeus grew up undisturbed. When he got older, he found a way to make his father disgorge the other gods, and they waged war against the Titans. They won, and Zeus chopped Kronos up like he had done to Ouranos. They threw his remains in Tatarus and locked up the rest of the Titans in their various prisons, like Atlas holding up the sky.
And Zeus did have kids with goddesses: Like Persephone with Demeter, and Athena with Metis.

Re: Greek Mythology Club
Yeah, Hades stole Persephone and she has to stay in the underworld for 6 months of the year cuz she ate the 6 pomegrante seeds. Demeter's sad during that time, so it's fall and winter when Persephone's with Hades. When Persephone can be with her mom, Demeter's happy so it's spring and summer.

Nymphs rescued him and took him to Lemnos, where the people of the island cared for him. But other versions say Zeus threw him from Mount Olympus after Hephaestus had sided with his mother in a quarrel. This legend says that Hephaestus fell for nine days and nine nights, and he landed on the island of Lemnos. It was on Lemnos where he built his palace and his forges under a volcano.

Re: Greek Mythology Club
I found the story behind it
Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate (or the seeds of a pomegranate, according to some sources). When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began

Yes, Hephaestus is Zeus and Hera's son, and Ares is sometimes Zeus and Hera's and sometimes just Hera's by herself. Those two were just examples.
Did you know that Zeus had over 115 mistresses in the myths?

Yesh. Zues was a plaayaah. xDD
But I have a Greek book, and it has like two pages full of SOME of Zues' lovers.
I always heard she was born from Kronus' blood..(Aphrodite) though I could be wrong.

That is true, I think I have heard of all his mistresses.
Aphrodite was born from Ouranous, I am not going to say how though.

The way I heard it was when Kronos was defeated, three drops of blood fell into the ocean. One of those drops of blood became Aphrodite, where she was taken ashore by the the seasons on a clam shell. She was then drapped with silk.

Hades is an Olympian God. He is also a big three.Katiegirl97 wrote:SaddleClub wrote:My friend and I were confused about something once.
Who exactly are the 12 Greek gods? We tried counting and got like 14 or something. =/ Here's our list:
Zues
Poseidon
Hades
Apollo
Dionysus
Hermes
Ares
Hephaestus
Hestia
Demeter
Athena
Artemis
Hera
Aphrodite
*counts* Yep, 14. And I even think I'm missing one. What is this?? o.O
I bolded the 12 Olymplyns (sp).
Yah Hades was never apart of the 12, people have always said he was but he isn't.... sadly XD

Re: Greek Mythology Club
There are many different stories behind Greek Mythology, which confuses me alot xD
Yah Hades, was a olympian, but like Noah said, He never had a seat. He would go to Mont Olympus but he never had a seat.
I am bring Percy Jackson into this, but thats why you'll notice there isn't a Hades Cabin if you read the books XD.
One thing I dont like about the Percy Jackson books, is that they make Hades seem like the bad guy. He loved his job, what he controled, and his brothers. He never wanted to take over Mont Olympus. Lol, then again I could be wrong because there are so many darn Stories
Hades was lucky he gets to have Control over the Underwrold and Earth, All Posidon got was the seas/water, and Zeus got control over the sky/ the other Gods

About Aphrodite: When we talked about Greek mythology in school, all we were told was she was born from the ocean and came to the land in a clam shell carried by dolphins. I've never heard anything else.

That was all true but a part they didnt tell was how she was born which I rather not say on here, its nasty. But yes feel into the ocean, water Bubbled, and a clam carried by Dolphines came to shore. The Clam opened reveling a beautiful girl wearing silk came out. She was greated by the seasons
