I closed my eyes, breathing in the smells of the early autumn air. After a moment I opened them again, tilting my head back to look at the perfect blue sky, tiny white fluffs of clouds drifting across it. I held tight to the high branch I was perched on as I shifted positions.

He shrugged to himself as he walked outside, squinting in the sunlight. His brown eyes glowed in the light. The sunlight seemed to stare down at him, as he strutted across the grounds. With confident, long strides, he jogged by the lake, smiling as he did so. He perched on the edge of the lake, kicking off his shoes and wading into the icy water, oblivious to everything around him

I watched a boy wade into the lake, far below me, before watching a few crisp golden leaves drift gently down and land on the surface of the water.

Mason glanced at the the leaves and picked one up, staring at it curiously. He rested it on the top of the lake, ripples forming as he did so. He slowly looked up, a cocky grin growing on his face as he saw a girl.
"Hey," he said, his voice calm and cool.

Mason climbed up the tree quickly, letting out a small breath as he perched on a branch near her.
"Thanks," he said quietly. "I'm Mason. Who are you?" he asked casually, grabbing a twig off the tree.
