A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Hello citizens of Twig.
I haven't written an announcement in a while. However, lately we've been having some problems with certain users. I'm not mentioning any names (SHADOW! Just kidding ) but these few users have been attempting to get around the censors using stars for example, saying P** instead of PIE. This isn't okay. So far, people have only been warned about it, and it most commonly happens in roleplaying, but this needs to stop. It's a rule now, no swearing, even using stars. It's not that hard for people to figure out what you're saying.
Thank you very much.

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
That makes sense - that shouldn't be allowed in the first place. I trust it the word I mentioned to Ado's been banned too?
DATENUTS!.
Yeah. xD
DATENUTS!.

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
I'm so horrible. xD I was just seeing, though.
Wait. Does this mean we can't swear and let the censor catch it? Cause if so I'll need to pre-review my freewrites. xP

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
I suppose we can no longer say *heck*, right? I mean like, exactly the way I wrote it.
Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
People say 'heck' all the time, Mia. Like, what the heck. I'm pretty sure that's allowed as even Ado says it.
Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
No, when I say *heck* [the exact way typed] everyone pretty much knows what I mean. I write heck, mean heck. I write *heck* means... the other word.
Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Heck, Crap, Darn, all fine. I'm talking about when people do things like
B**** < Bad.
B**** < Bad.
Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Oh, Mia. I thought you meant the word 'heck'. :/
Keri seems to say it's fine.

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Is it okay to star it out if it's a censored word but the way you're using it isn't bad? Like, s*x ed? (If that's not allowed I'll edit it out.)

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing as Ratty... Also, I don't see why HEAVEN! has to be censored because it's so often referred to as the actual place. But then again, I don't see why DATENUTS! is censored either... If you're going to censor that gibberish, then you might as well censor freak, flip and fudge as well. And while those pointless words are being censored, I could list at least 20 others that very well should be but aren't...
Although, I guess that's irrelevant to the topic. XD I think it's good that this rule is enforced because if you're just going to asterisk out part of the word, you might as well say the whole swear and let the censors handle it.

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
I dunno what 'datenuts' stands for.
Yeah, I agree, Komo. I think that derivatives of 'BROWNIE!' should be banned, though, but that the other things should stay. I can say 'fudge' and not feel like I'm saying a swear word. One of the more serious alternatives which involves typing the first letter of the word in question out phonetically has been banned. (Is it okay if I say that? xD)
Also, what if you wanna talk about yummy chocolate fudge?

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
Well, I can't say, but it's basically like freak. Not freak as in "weirdo", freak as in an alternative to the f word.Dead By Sunrise wrote:What does the 'datenuts' one stand for, anyway? =_=

I was being sarcastic about banning freak and fudge... XD I was trying to prove the point that it's pointless to ban DATENUTS! when it's a relatively harmless word that means the exact same thing. But I think I'm desensitized when it comes to swearing, because I just don't see it as a huge deal. Unless you're actually saying "BROWNIE!" in a literal sense (like, using it as a verb...), then it's just a word.

Re: A Stricter Rule On Cussing
It really all depends on the context. Like, if you wanna refer to h3ll, it's not so bad if you wanna star that so people can still say. If it's as in "What the ----", though, then no.
$ex ed, I'm kinda iffy about that. In that context it's not really used in a bad way, and I've been okay with you doing the star thing thus far, Ratty, but the word is still kinda one that might not be the best to have floating around on the forum. XD So, er, use wisely.
Lesser words that might not seem like they should be censored . . . well, like, POed and the variations of the f-bomb, I'm honestly okay with them, but some people (such as my parents) aren't. And my parents are kinda the health inspectors here, they come and see something they think is spiritually unhealthy for me here, they can shut the whole place down. XD So yeah.
If you wanna star out the whole word, that could be okay too. Like you wanna you wanna say firetruck, you can do *********, but not fir*truck.

Okie dokies. The class is over anyway, so it doesn't really matter, but I just wanted to make sure.

I'll be following this... as I did before. XD
I don't even use those kinds of words offline. Just crap, suck, darn and dang, but that's it.
