Forgotten

The shadows surround me
I blend in with the scene
Hidden in plain sight
I am rarely seen

I'm growing used to it
Though it still brings me pain
That I'm always forgotten
Left out in the rain

Usually I just sit around
Simply alone
And nobody notices
That I'm on my own

I'm invisible to all
Pushed off to the side
And though you may think so
I don't try to hide

I'm the girl in the background
Just barely there
The one who's forgotten
The one without flair

This lack of attention
Just makes me shy
I don't have many friends
And I just wonder why

Why am I ignored?
Will this ever end?
For once in my life
Will I make some more friends?

However, I guess
In a way this is good
I'm never embarassed
Or misunderstood

Still, a little more noticing
Would be preferred
I want to be seen
I want to be heard

So is this a curse
Or a blessing in disguise?
But try as I might
I just can't decide

Forgotten by most
Remembered by few
I often wonder:
What will I be to you?
