Setting: In the future sometime- nobody knows the year, because they don't keep track anymore.
Backstory: After World War III, all the countries in the world realized that they could, indeed, destroy the entire world. Not wanting to do so, they combined their weapons and shot them into space, where they are still drifting about. But one person kept just one thing. And that one thing could bring the end to the human race.
Plot: Zakiya Castaneda has always been a normal thirteen year old boy, even though he was the most popular boy in school. He went to school, did his homework, and dated his super-popular, amazingly beautiful girlfriend, Shakina. However, when a deadly virus escapes from a faraway labratory, everyone begins to die off. Except him.
He's the only one who's immune. And now he's the only human on the planet.
But then he finds Jasira, a girl about his age who is also immune to whatever this virus is. And who might know how to stop it.

I tried to do character development and got totally bored. So, I did something better that helps me more: I wrote a few paragraphs about them and wrote an expert from their POV. (:
Zakiya Novak Castaneda; 15 years old; Day 13 of Month CLXIX of Year Triskaidekahis; Minaluium Star Sign
History: Zakiya was born with both allergies and asthma, and has dealt with them ever since. his parents are very rich, so he's in the upper class of his time. However, they grew up poor, so they're still humble- he's not. Anyway, he grew up being pampered like a prince and when he went to school, the same routine continued. His allergies have bothered him, particually in the spring, but he's usually okay.
Looks: A tall, lean fellow with hair as black as the night. He's died a few sections a metallic gold- the same color as his eyes. He will most likely be wearing black leather boots with decorative gold buckles and a nice shirt and slacks. His black hair will be hanging over his eyes as it always does, and it will be windswept naturally. His skin is paler than normal, with his eyes just slightly red around the edges. His lips are full and red as if he wore lipstick, but he doesn't, and his teeth are a stunning shade of white.
Personality: Rich, spoiled, selfish, self-centered, concieted. Five words to describe Zakiya. Though his allergies hinder him, he's still the most popular student in his school, and everyone looks up to him as an idol. He wants to be a model at The Eighth Take, the popular modeling agency of the time, and is trying to achieve that goal.
That's all before the illness hits the world. Then he changes... but you don't get to know how yet. xD
There it was again. The sign for The Eighth Take, throwing itself in my face again. I had been trying to get into that place since I was, well, eight. My girlfriend Shakina pulled on my hand, and I was jerked back to the present. "Zakiya, your audtion is soon. Calm down." She giggled, kissing my cheek. I smiled, wrapping my arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer. "Come on, let's go inside."
"Mother! Where's my inhaler?" I called, dropping my bookbag on the floor, knowing the maid would pick it up. "On the counter, Zakiya." She said impatiently as I found it and took a puff. Though I was the most popular guy in school with the hottest girlfriend, I still had my health problems. Shakina was kissing my cheek again as I put the inhaler down and we went up to my room to listen to some music.
A few hours and about fifty songs later, I took Shakina's hand to walk her home, the way I always did. "See you tomorrow, baby." I whispered, kissing her lips for a second as she brushed her hand over my neck. "Don't get sick again- it's the end of school and summer's starting. You're no fun when you're sick in bed." She teased, her eyes glinting. "It's not my fault." I murmured, my hands brushing over her soft lips. "Bye."
