My Guardian Raven
I'm going to try to write a serious poem. Here it goes.
My Guardian Raven
He was soaring way up high,
Feathers dancing in the haze.
Black against the violet sky,
With a caring gaze.
I heard him caw,
The melody greeted my ears.
Without a flaw,
The music swam through my tears.
"Hello, my guardian raven,
Watching me from above,
Won’t you take me to your haven?
In this world, there’s no love."
With a shake of his head, he parted me,
Leaving me alone.
Without a word, he decided to flee,
Ignoring my groan.
And so I came to realize what I forgot.
Through all of my supposed strife,
I must be thankful for what I’ve got.
No more moaning about life.
We should be positive,
See the good shine through the bad.
Enjoy the life we live,
And ignore what drives us mad.
Once I took a look around me,
I saw that I was in a haven all along.
I have friends, love and family,
There was actually never anything wrong.
And now I see my raven once more,
Though he just doesn't seem the same.
He isn't talkative like before,
Nor will he ever be as tame.
But I guess I must learn to love,
This one as much as the last.
For I know he's still up above,
And I can't dwell on the past.
So let this be a lesson to you,
Don't take your guardian for granted.
For they have feelings too,
And the love they feel for you is enchanted.
But they will leave if they must,
So be respectful to them.
You must really earn their trust,
They're worth more than any gem.
Inspiration
My dead kitten, Raven, and the unnamed kitten who I think is a reincarnation of her.
It's also about me being happier about life.
