Raven's Eye Academy [Second Chapter is up!]
*~Chapter 1~*
“Abigail! Get up already! It’s your turn to walk Pookie!” My older sister, Leah yelled. I groaned and hurriedly turned on my laptop for some quick chatting. Ding! A chatbox popped up.
Geishagirl: hey you, wassup???
Shootforthemoon: nuthin. I have to go walk the dog.
Geishagirl: awwww! can I please come? please????? I luv him so much! he’s so kawaii!
Shootforthemoon: leah would kill me! srry, gtg. I think she’s gonna blow up.
Geishagirl: OK. ttyl!
I logged out and turned off my laptop. Geishagirl, who’s name is Ella, is my best friend for life. I can’t live without her because she’s the only one who really cares.
I went downstairs and grabbed a granola bar, dog treats, a leash, and small plastic bags. I snapped the leash on Pookie’s collar and took off, first walking steadily and then breaking into a run. We were running towards WestSide Park, Pookie’s favorite place in the world.

After Pookie did his business, I sat by a bench and set him free, letting him play with the other dogs. Suddenly, a girl about my age with long black hair sat down next to me and faced me. She looked awfully familiar. “My name is Kadina Pryde. I’m from French class.” She smiled at me.
“Oh. I remember you! Kind of…. Um, do you have contacts or something? I’ve never seen you with red eyes.”
She chuckled. “Your family has not told you.”
“Told me what?” I raised an eyebrow.
“About…Our family’s history.”
“Our?”
Kadina sighed. “I have much to explain.”
*~Chapter 2~*
“You come from a family of mages, though we both are a quarter vampire. There are very few families like that in the world. We all contain magic, obviously. Our family does dark magic. We do very little white magic, only to cure our allies.
“We are the outsiders. The ‘angels’ think we stole the golden halo. It is absolutely not true. They have called war on us, which is pretty surprising, despite the innocence and all.” She smirked then, but I knew she was worried. “We’re going to train you. Both of us will be leaving Mountain View High and attend Raven’s Eye Academy. It will be fun! Promise.” And with that, she vanished into thin air.
After that explanation, I couldn’t think straight, and went home with a muddy Pookie.
I gave the little guy a quick wash and dried him off. Then I ran into my room, not wanting to talk to anybody. It felt wrong not talking to my mom about attending Raven’s Eye and all, but I had a feeling she would found out pretty soon.
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. “Come in!” I said. My mom opened the door and handed me an envelope. It was like a wedding invitation. I opened it and there was a white letter, written with black ink:
Dear Abigail Kingsly,
I would like to inform you that you have been accepted at Raven's Eye Academy. This means that you have magical powers and must learn how to control them.
Now listen carefully. Before the 25th of August you must drive to Veronica Luna's Emporium of Magic, which is disguised as a house. The address is 9452 Sherud St. This store will give you all the supplies you need. On August 25th return to Sherud St. and take the black and red bus there.
Good Luck,
Prof Tribiani
I read these words out loud and sighed. “All I want is my life to be normal, but that’s not going to happen.”
“You have a lot of time to prepare, don’t worry.” My mom smiled, but it did not reach her eyes.
“Leah looked like a total pig’s sty every summer when she got back from ‘James Private School’,” And that’s when it took me by surprise. “Leah! She’s going to totally embarrass me!” I shrieked and ran out of the room with the letter.
I knocked on the door of my sister’s room and waited, but nobody answered. I knocked again. Nobody. I frowned, impatient, and turned the doorknob, slamming the door against the wall. “Leah, I need to talk to you about something!” I said loudly, only to find out that Leah wasn’t in the room. Then I realized there was a sticky note on her door. It said: Gone shopping with Stella!
“At a time like this she has to go? Great!” I moaned, and tore the note into pieces.
