All I could hear was the silence of my flats rubbing against the hardwood floor. Once the news got around that you could get off the island, I was sure I was gonna do that. I already had plans of what I might do. Go to college, work in a Toxicology lab, start a new life. I wanted to forget about my past, even though I would be late going to college, by about a year, I probably just wouldn't take off the summers to catch up. I had made a mess--- a blob of my life, I felt as if I lost control many years ago. I knew after you went, you couldn't come back for a year or so, so I wouldn't see Amanda for some time, but I had a feeling I might be making a good decision. Maybe I wasn't, but I could always chnange my mind in twelve months, right? I had to escape this place, erase my footsteps on the beach. I didn't know what I started with Troy, it wasn't what I wanted, and wasn't what I would do. I knew it would take me months--maybe years for me to fall in love. I left my stuff behind, and put on a hoodie and some short denim shorts, walking to the cave, to, well, erase my mistakes.

The only question spinning through my head was, "Was Brightfield the place I really want to be living at?" I mean I had a wife and twins on the way, but... I had so much more potential than to just wait around in Brightfield until I die, or whatever happens to me. I could change the world... I already had, before I had come here. And I was sure they'd eagerly accept me if I had chosen to come back.

I took a step forward, when I was interrupted by footsteps. Jumping back, I crouched behind a large refined jewel, to see Emma walking towards the light, also the teleporter. "Oh, hey," I mumbled, looking at the ground. "So you heard about it to?" I asked, looking at it once again. Maybe going back to Earth wasn't the right idea, after all... I didn't want to leave the love of my life and my soon-to-be children behind. Besides, was working in the military something that would be worth starting my life over AGAIN? I sighed.

I hadn't seen Jack and Kristen in a few days, so I decided to go around looking for them. They weren't in Jasie Valley, any of their friend's houses, their own house, nothing... I was walking along the shore of the beach when I heard weeping. Pushing through some brush, I found Kristen, her eyes bloodshot red, crying. "What's wrong?" I asked, a worry line in my forehead because I knew something must have happened with Jack.
