Justin and Wendy make money from us posting on the forum. And most of their money is made on.... The DCT! It gets over 2,000 posts per day. Some of the people on the list are DCT powerhouses. They lead the DCT conversations.

I'll join the strike. My WI username is amrgirl59. Since I'm on vacation for the 31st and the 1st, and working on the week days, it shouldn't be that hard for me to not go on. I get on like once or twice a day, but usually just for around 5 or so minutes.
Oh, and if I get around to it, I'll ask one member of WI (who never gets on TWIG anymore) if she wants to join, since I can contact her on Youtube

Enh, I'll just confuse myself. I was pretty sure that it was the ads that display on the page that generate cash, but I know nothing about how a forum works. *shrugs*
Besides, one thread that dies for a week, no matter size, can't make that much of a difference in the long run.
'Neways, there's stuff happening on GPX+, and I'm gonna need the club over on WI to chat and vent frustration. Also I'm frequently bored and some might notice I'm not the most active of members over here on TWIG. Over there I can at least post on random threads and never come in again to waste a few minutes of my life.
As of now, I do not plan on joining this strike. If mum or dad can get me one of the games I want within the next few days, which would keep me very busy, then we'll talk.

Well, server space does cost money, but it's not like there's a set rate per 1000 posts, like $0.0001 or something. I think WI runs on a dedicated server, which is enough to keep it up no matter how many posts there are.Kiriana Shadeweaver wrote:*tilts head*Elmo wrote:Justin and Wendy make money from us posting on the forum. But ads - they earn WI most of their money. The reason they earn the money is to, well, balance off the money they pay for the server.
Quite honestly, I don't think the WI mods and admins will actually do anything.

Honestly, it depends. It highly depends.
If we can get over 100 users or so, and that the list contains people such as the high DCTers/RPers that have from 30,000 to 50,000+ posts, then... maybe at least one mod/admin will care.
Because the DCT and RP sections are their bigger "hits".
Re: The WI Strike! Let's make this event huge! ***List back up!***
What we're trying to say, Mia, is that it's not going to make much of a difference. The WI community does not thrive off money, because from what I have gathered all money earned goes straight back to the site. I wouldn't be surprised if they earned more than half of their money through WI2 subscriptions, honestly, because those seem to be what all of the 'popular' users have.Malicious Nightmares wrote:Arianna wrote:Well, server space does cost money, but it's not like there's a set rate per 1000 posts, like $0.0001 or something. The 'hits' do not matter, because they don't notice this. Yes, they like to have a community. But truthfully, I think their aim of the community was to have a community which revolves around webkinz - and not RP'ing or chatting. They might even be thankful (though they'd never mention it) because then more focus would be being put into the whole webkinz aspect of stuff.
I feel sorta weird because I'm one of those I-really-don't-like-WI people, but I'll say this - it's the idea that counts. You guys are standing up against WI and that's really great, but they probably won't notice.
Also, I doubt anyone's going to get banned, unless everyone leaves in a flurry of offensive PMs, or if they check everyone's PMs. Why? Because you don't ban someone for leaving the site for a week.

I might get rattyjol to sign up. I'm PMing her now. And if she says yes then most of the RP section will be shut down for the week.
I've also gotten confirmation from Bawtneez, TheLovelyLife, me, and musicislife666. We're all DCT powewrhouses. So there goes the DCT. Plus, TheLovelyLife is contacting all of her DCT friends.

It's the little plus at the top right of a post, right under the online image. Or the minus, haha. xD

But then again, no.
For the RP section, there's still people like;
Squeecks, TT, Webbie, Me [less often. XD] and others.
But then again, I'm amongst those that won't be there. XD
Re: The WI Strike! Let's make this event huge! ***List back up!***
TT is also part of it Mia.
Can you PM Squeecks and Webbie? Or would they tell the mods?

Squeecks is on Twig, too.
So I'll probably PM her.
Webbie isn't allowed to have a Twig account.
So she's on WI as often as she can.
I don't wanna ruin anything for Webbie.
So I won't bother her.

Please put me as undecided right now. :3 WI is the only way I can contact my other friends(okpo and WildWK), but I'll see if maybe they'll join the strike and move on over to Twig. I'm almost sure that Wild will, but okpo is a bit different...
