I looked at her. "That's not it at all. I want to be with you..." I stopped. "I am with you. It's just, I feel like you're out of my league. Like you're too good for me." I stopped again, and then clarified. "I'm not breaking up with you. The only way that you're getting rid of me...is if you break up with me."

I continued to look away from her. "It's not your fault at all. When that happened to you." I paused. "It woke something up inside of me. A fear to be more exact. A fear...that one day...something will happen...to you." I couldn't say it. That word was off limits, when Selena was the topic.
