I thought I'd share a few Holiday Haiku's I've made in the past. * A Haiku Holiday * 465999

[A quick recap if you don't know/remember what a Haiku is: it's a three-line poem, from the Japanese. The first line has five syllables, the second seven syllables, and the third five syllables. Usually they deal with nature... But sometimes people [like me] twist around and assign different themes.]

Valentine's Day:

Greed's overpowered,
By the love in all worldwide
On Valentine's Day

These two here are sort of meant to be paired together, but it'd be against Haiku rules to make it a six-line. * A Haiku Holiday * 213909

Most on the fourteenth
Are revived by love's power...
And there's those who die.

Was it from a shot?
Perhaps, but here's a new thought...
Bullet or heartache?

Earth Day:
Reuse, recycle.
Everybody's doing it,
So will you repeat?

April Fools:
Listen-- razz-berries.
Jokes, laughs, and whoopee cushions.
Oh, and April Fools!

Independence Day:
Colors light the sky;
People in red, white and blue;
Their spirits are free

Halloween:
This is my attempt of rewriting the Haiku I entered into a WI contest--and got 1st Place in. * A Haiku Holiday * 268382 I never saved it, though, so I'm hoping this is about right.
Black cats prowl the streets,
Ghosts and witches rule the skies,
Kids scream "Trick or treat!"

Christmas:
Crystals flutter down
To the hopeful world below;
Santa's come to town.

Yeah, the contest was last year,almost exactly a year from now actually, 'cause as you probably figured out it was a Halloween Haiku contest.... It was fun though! I didn't think I was going to get first once I read the first Haiku entered [something about black teeth, it was.... xD]

Nice job on these. cheesy Congrats on that win last year! I really like haikus. They don't even have to rhyme, and it's so easy to write them. xD

Thanks! Yeah, they're pretty easy, all you have to do is get in the write syllables... And alakazam, you've got a masterpiece. xD I wonder what a random haiku would be like...
