Opinions...
Is it just me...
Or do any of you guys have a sick satisfaction with WI being hacked?
I know that there was already a thread about the hacking, but it was closed. Besides, it was just more like everyone freaking out over what happened than any actual opinions.
But this thread is for your opinions on the subject.
I, personally, am glad WI was hacked. Lol, okay, maybe not really that glad... But I'm a bit ticked with all of their new rules, so yeah, I think they had it coming. They decide to make rules to chain down our creativity, like "Oh, don't post anything romancey! Even suggesting people are dating will scar 7 year olds for life!"
Well, you know what? By enforcing rules like that, they're just assuring seven year olds will be scarred for life. They'll grow up not even knowing what a kiss is, then they'll be all confused when some guy pulls a move on them.
Anyway, you get my point. WI is getting too strict, and I think the mods are getting to the point where they're hurting children's feelings more than they're protecting them. I mean, how would you feel if you got yelled at all of the time by total strangers? It's just not fair. I know the WI mods have made me cry before.
So, anyway, I think Ande (The admin of the hacker site) is right. I think that they needed to teach WI a lesson, and that it will help their site become more secure in the long run.
What do you guys think?
(Please don't shoot me. XP)
If you don't know what I'm talking about, go here:

And if you read through the whole thread, you'll find an email from Ande in there somewhere.

Re: Opinions...
I know what you mean. Firstly, the hackers were doing it to protect WI from more malicious hackers. Annoying, but it's better that than have someone deleting every single post.
As for WI - yeah, it's really gone to far. Seriously, my brother (and he is 7) has been seen people kiss. And? Is he scarred for life? Nope.
Gosh, and I doubt that 7 year olds on WI even bother to go in the creative writing section. I know my brother and sister (7 and 8 ) and if a block of text contains more than... 50-something words, they'll just leave it. Most people that age are that way.
[/rant]
I don't like WI that much anymore. [/understatement]

Re: Opinions...
I totally agree, just maybe I'm not exactly satisfied. xD WI did deserve this, and the hackers did kinda do WI a favor, since they didn't actually do anything besides proclaim that they hacked the site.
I don't really mind that it got hacked, just because I don't go there much anymore. But, why, pray tell, don't I? Because I'm so held back there. xP I can't write to my full ability, with all the beautiful romanceyness that I love and my mom would gasp at there. I can respect their rules, but there's only two options here. Either they back off a little, or I go on less.
The former's obviously not gonna happen, so we're stuck with the latter. Not that it matters much for them, except for having the most popular RP closed. xD (I'm judging popularity by how many parts it has, just so we know, lol.)
Okay, well, my post is turning too much into a rant against WI than something about the hack. xD So I'm gonna shut up.

Re: Opinions...
Really good point, Arianna. I never read that much when I was young, either.
Ah, I never thought of it that way, Shadow. Because of your RP being closed down, I never go on WI anymore. (Not like I went on much, anyway... Lol) And I'm sure a lot of the other Twigers are like that, too... So WI lost some very good members because of their strictness.

I think Wi had it coming I think that eventually when some of the kids that go on Wi will grow up and not go on anymore and Wi will change the rules a bit. I think that the dating or even hugging is stupid they do it on disney channel! I am sure all 7 years probaly watch Hannah Montana there is dating on there!!!

xD
I feel evil, but that has made my day. I had no idea it had been hacked.
I'll probably get a whole load of bad karma now since I laughed... xD

Re: Opinions...
OK, so WI isn't my fav site, I HATE their rules but seriously? Those people are messed up, I mean isn't that illegal or something? Someone should sue them xD But my question... why did WI delete all evidence of it ever happening?

xD I was wondering the exact same thing. Now I'm going to be paranoid and assume it's all a conspiracy.

Re: Opinions...
Awesome point, Brooke! I totally agree with you.
Haha, same here, Snow. I enjoyed it as much as you did. XP
I get what you mean, Jade, though I am still happy with them being hacked XP. I mean, it was a little... extreme. And I agree that those hackers are definitely a little messed up, after exploring their forum. I think that WI deleted the evidence of it ever happening so that the kids wouldn't find that site. I mean, seriously... There's some scary crap on there. They had like an adult only section (I'm not sure if it's actually there, I just saw it on Ande's list of things that he either was planning on removing or that he already removed) and there were lots of swears. Could you imagine how bad that could be for WI if parents found out that their kids were lead to that site by Webkinz Insider? If there was an announcement about the hacking on WI, then the kids could google it and end up finding evil zone. WI could be sued for that by the parents. It's supposed to be a children's site, so it would be terrible if any of the younger ones found out about evil zone through there.
Lol, nice, Snow. XP

Re: Opinions...
Lol, Mo, your explanation makes so much more sense than mine does. xD I was just gonna say cus the WI peep's heads are so big that they're ashamed to admit they were ever hacked. (Sorry WI. )
Re: Opinions...
xD
Haha, what brilliant explanations you both have.
I still think I'm going to be paranoid. I need a hobby (even if it's something as ridiculous as being paranoid by websites).

Lol, I'm not sure I'm gonna be paranoid about it. xD But if I went on every day still, I definitely would be. Cus, if they got my password - seriously! My account was, like, my life!
Re: Opinions...
xD Chances are I'll forget all about this whole ordeal by next week.
Yeah... I am such an unreliable member. I read about the s here before I even logged on to WI.

Re: Opinions...
They wouldn't do something like decipher any of our passwords. They just needed it from the admin. It's stored in salted MD5 fomat (whatever that means ) so it's really hard to crack.
Yes, I've read up on that stuff. I'm trying to figure out how to integrate adoptables and mybb.

Re: Opinions...
Yes! I totally agree! I put it in a spoiler for your convinence
- Spoiler:
- ALL OF MY FAVORITE STORIES WERE DELETED and ok so listen to this one person had a pm only story right? and the mods freak out and scream at they were like: you can't have a pm only story it's against the rules blah blah blah and has ANYONE EVER seen something on the forum rules that says you can't? ME NEITHER! I was FURIOUS they didn't even post that on the rules and they scream at her for doing something she didn't know was against the rules!? So all in all I agree and I think they deserved to be hacked!
