Turns out, the new kids had left school right in the middle of the day. There had been a 'misunderstanding' with the police and the four mysterious kids. They found them wandering the streets and automatically guessed they were ditching school; but supposedly they were 'leaving the state'. I closed my locker, and nodded to her. "Alright, I'm coming." I replied. I looked over to the glass doors, seeing the bus already pulling up. "Come on!" I said, and ran.

"I have a really bad feeling, Amanda." I told her quietly, pressing my face against the window of the bus. As I talked, my breath left a light fog on the window. Before, I probably would have started drawing on it; but now, for some reason, the fog made things very eerie.

"So do I. Something's going to change..." I muttered. "Soon. And I don't think it's for the better." Tears were coming into my eyes; I was always more emotional than my sister. That was good, when things were good. But now... the bad feeling might be... losing her forever.

As our bus was arriving at our house, I noticed that we were the only two in the bus, other than the bus driver. What distressed me the most, however, was that there were police at our house, and the front door had those bright yellow 'CAUTION' things taped around it. My eyes widened.

"I don't know." I breathed, the stress and worry of the day now clear on my face. I got up quickly, "Come on." I called over my shoulder, hopping off of the bus and onto the sidewalk. I walked up to one of the policemen, "What's wrong?" I asked, a distressed look on my face.

The cop-dude turned to us, a slightly sympathetic look on his face. "I'm sorry to inform you two of this, but your parents died in a car crash a few hours earlier." He told us. Really, after the words came out of his mouth, it took a while for them to register in my mind. All I could hear was my heart, quick and light, but slightly muffled. I was silent, my eyes wide.

"You'll be living with an aunt of yours in Forks. She's the closest of family that you two will have; I'm very sorry." His attention turned to me. I felt my breathing quicken a little too much, and, at one point, I couldn't feel the air going to my lungs anymore. My eyesight turned blurry, and I passed out, my head hitting the concrete, causing blood to come from my head.
"Get the E.R.!" I heard one of the police calling. It was the asthma. I had just never triggered it before. The last thing I saw was a black car passing us. In it were the pale forms that had been on the bus that very morning. The one driving, the black-haired on, had his hand over his mouth and noise.
Then everything went dark.

"Cassandra?" It was exactly what happened to me when I had an athsma attack. I dug quickly in my purse and pulled out her inhaler [we each had two, and gave one to our sister] and pressed it to her mouth, squeezing the nozzle-thingy.

I inhaled suddenly, opening my eyes with a gasp. But my eyesight was still blurry, and my head was still bleeding as much as it had been in the first place. "Come with us." The policeman spoke, and I felt myself being lifted into a stretcher-thing. "She hit her head in a place where she shouldn't have. She might need stitches."

I smiled very weakly, "I'm not going to die, Amanda." I replied very quietly. I didn't know if she could hear me or not, but it was all I could really do. "For some reason, I don't think this is over..." But this, I knew, she probably could not hear. My voice was too weak at this point.

My eyes fluttered open, and I nodded. They had taken out the I.V.s and such, and now I was in my regular clothes. On my head was a big white bandage. That was the place where they had stitched me up. They told me I would have to change them once a week for three weeks, and on the fourth week, it should've been closed up. I rubbed my head slightly, getting out of bed. "Alright." I whispered.

I nodded slowly, feeling emotionally numb. It hadn't yet registered fully into my mind that I would never see my parents ever again. I would never get to see my mother's rose garden, or ride down the street on my bike, taking pictures of whatever passed us. As an officer escorted us into a car, I remained quiet.

We reached our house for the last time. I gulped. "Um. Thanks. For everything. Our aunt will be here today." I fought the oncoming tears. "And we'll leave."
I packed everything; my notebook, my schoolwork, anything and everything I could fit. "The moving truck is coming soon?" I asked Cassie, looking at my desk. We would bring all our belongings to Forks.

I was packing as well. Most of my belongings were clothes, my old dolls, many, many picture rolls, and everything my parents had ever given to me that I still had-- that being some stuffed animals, and two snowglobes. I nodded once, having to sit on my suit-case in order to close it. "Yeah."

I closed my eyes tightly, taking my sisters hand and stepping over the threshold of our front door for one last time. I would never see my mother's rose garden, the backyard-- not even the old attic. I had taken many pictures of everything-- I had used up twenty six rolls of film in just a few weeks from how many pictures I had taken. I sighed quietly, looking around. A guy that looked somewhat similar to the banker from A Series of Unfortunate Events led us into an old buggie.
"Your passports seem to have expired, unfortunately. We'll be driving there." He told us.
