- - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
I'm a little hesitant about posting this one, but... ah well.
LIFE AND GENERALDRABBLE STUFF.
ARGH.
It was amazing.
<3
MUSIC OF THE DAY & WHY.
Um. Random selection from the iPod once again, as I am faaar too sleepy to actually think about what music I like. XD
THE ACTUAL BLOG POST.
I've breached the subject of love before, but this one's a bit different...
I'll start you off with a quote. (:
'Why is it that, as a nation, we are more comfortable with seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?' - Ernest Gaines
This is a good point, dear unknown person. :/ Why IS it that we're more comfortable with men with guns?
Now, in the comments that you may make on this blog, I would really appreciate for them to not be bible verses about how your god made man to only love woman.
But... why, do YOU PERSONALLY think, is it 'bad' for men to like/love other men and women to like/love other women? I know that there are some supportive people on here - including myself - but there are, sadly, far more non-supportive ones. I just don't... understand. I myself completely accept the idea - heck, some of my best friends are 'queer' -, so when I found out that a lot of people are AGAINST it, it sent my mind for a twist.
It's just love, folks...? :/ It's not really a sin. They're allowed to even adopt and raise a kid if they want!
They're people, too.
-sigh-
Night, folks. Until next time.
SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH.

Pull up a chair and sit - want some tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice? Just water for now? Okay, then. (: Feel free to have a cookie.
Before you start reading, you should probably know that I talk about a loooooooooooot of stuff. If it bugs you, you don't have to read. (:

- The music - - - > Blue Man Group
The style - - - > ...I guess it's like rock music? It's EPIC. >_>
What I like about it - - - > Epic, epic, epic stuff. It's mainly rhythm music done with some seriously weird stuff - frying pans, sometimes! XD But I absolutely love the sound. <3 I have two of their CD's now.
...I won't go into too much detail as, like I said, I'm really tired. ._.;;

I agree completely. I understand that some people believe that... it... should only be used for reproduction, but... like you said, it's just love, and it's the same thing.

I agree.
It's horrible how people judge people just because they like people of their same gender. It's not a bad thing, but everyone makes it seem that way.
The bible also says that it's okay to have slaves, but we don't have them today, do we?
Can I use the same quote in my siggie, please?

@Ratty: I'm not necessarily talking about 'it', but that is a good point.
Even small things such as being a girl, having a girlfriend, and being seen holding her hand in public can get you scorned and scowled at because it's 'sinful'.
@Arianna: Exactly! Gender preference, religious belief - heck, we even stereotype and judge people if they're a guy or a girl!
And yes, you may. (:

I'd like to clear up some confusion; I'm a moderator, but I don't agree with the fact that every story we have on here has to be guy-girl. Honestly, in my story Sn0w Whit3, one of the sisters likes girls, but I had to change that so that it'd be okay to put on here. I'm totally fine with it. My best friend likes girls, and she's still one of my best friends. Honestly, I have no problem with it.
I agree with your post so much. Are you part of the GSA? I'm part of it at my school. We did the Day of Silence last month. It was really successful in our school; over 600 people involved. It kind of bothered me that some of the teachers didn't respect it.

@Akeria: That's why I said 'some of' the mods. XD
I haven't read Sn0w Whit3 (yet), but I'll be sure to keep it out. (: And yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one. XD
I can't say I've heard of the GSA, to be honest. What is it?
And, I participated in the Day of Silence myself. I'm glad it was so successful for you!
Some people just... don't respect stuff like that. -sigh- I think it's mostly because their religions may say that same-gender pairings are 'wrong' - although, there are also those who just don't want to hear about it. But...
It's still there, it's still in our culture, even if you pretend it doesn't exist.

Couldn't agree more. GSA is the Gay-Straight Alliance (I don't know if that'll be censored or not...) It's a really nice organization. Our chapter at our school is really large.
Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
I don't think its wrong. I mean, my best friend could tell me he is gay and he'd still be my best friend. Its just love, not like its wrong. Sure, its a sin, but what isn't? Cussing is a sin, killing is a sin, stealing is a sin, heck, being jealous is a sin! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a firm Christian. But in the Bible all sin is equal to the next, none greater none lower, in God's eyes.
So I'm fine with it.
Not really people on here, but mainly people I know in real life, I think are just homophobic. Afraid of something different.

Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
@Akeria: I'll have to look it up. (: Thanks for telling me about it~!
@Noah: People cuss, kill, steal, and are jealous every day, too.
We, as a people, do tend to be scared of what we don't understand; and that, I believe, is the basis for homophobia. People don't understand it, so they don't like it; they scorn it, tell others it's a bad thing, and it just escalates from there.
I've had some pretty bad experiences with Christians, I'm rather sorry to say; I was more than a little worried about posting this blog because of the large Christian population on this website.

I'm Christian (Kind of... Like, I go to church every sunday, but I don't believe in what they have to say all the time...)
Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
Yes. So what makes them so much worse then the others? I think people today would rather be locked in a room with a murder then a gay person.
I think thats why people are afraid of alot of things. The dark, because they can't see so they don't know. Same with the ocean, cause you can't see anything. I know, because I hate the dark and the ocean.
But yeah, that happens :/ It just depends who you talk to. There are Christians who think everything that isn't Jesus like is bad, Christians that try to see the good in people all the time, and Christians who just don't get into anything. I find myself in the second category. (Not that Christians are bad...just not all of them really see the true point in Christiality. Hope that doesn't offend any fellow Christians)

I agree. <3
I mean, yeah, I'm Catholic, but there are so many things that I don't agree with in the Church - this being one of them. I roleplay a gay guy. Am I sinning? Apparently. My friend is lesbian and I support it. Am I commiting a sin? I should hope not, but apparently that's the case. :/
Why can't people love anyone?
I mean, I thought God loved everyone equally.
But, you know, of course some people have to be more equal than others.

I don't think it's wrong. In fact, I have gay friends. They're older than me... But I don't care. I don't look at them as if there's something wrong with them either. To me, they're still a person. I'm even friend with a bicurious girl... So, nope. I don't think it's wrong.

@Ave: You hit the target right on the bullseye. (:
...And, I love you to pieces for saying that.
@Mooniepie: A good half of my friends around my age (the 15-17 range) are either bicurious or bi - and the other half are totally accepting of the LGBTQ community. (:

This is one thing alot of Christians don't really look at.
I mean, went God closed the Red Sea on the Egyptians, the Bible says that he was sad. He was sad because he killed people who were trying to kill Moses and his family and friends.

Avvy, please don't take this personally, because you know I love ya, but I disagree. Not with your actual position on the matter, but on the sinning and God loving people.
It's not being gay or anything that's actually the sin. The real sin is in believing it's wrong but going and doing it with someone your gender anyway. God loves us all equally no matter what - the only thing he doesn't like is the sins.
So here's where my stance comes in. I . . . am in the middle sort of. Like, I can accept these people. There's nothing wrong with the people, as I just said, it's just what they're doing that I don't support. The love itself, even that isn't what I'm frowning upon. Lately I've been going around being all fangirly over yaoi pairings, though, so I'm really not sure where I am. I believe it's wrong personally, but at the same time, I'm having trouble convincing myself that it is. My morals are changing, so . . . I really don't know what my position is. I believe it's wrong, but at the same time, I'm going around supporting it with my actions. xP I'm a sad example of either viewpoint.
What I'm hoping to attain is the state of mind where I can accept it but not get so into it. XD Instead of accepting it and then going on DeviantArt to look for "LxLight."
I hope I haven't offended any of you with this. ^^; I apologize if I have.
Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
@Shadow: ...Do you know what 'Yaoi' actually stands for? It isn't JUST about male x male pairings, I'll say that...
Anyway.
So, you accept that there are girls who like girls (and perhaps they like both girls and guys), for example, but you don't accept that they want to kiss them and hold their hand; exchange loving notes, flowers, chocolate to one another as a gift from one partner to the other. I'm not talking about 'it' necessarily, I'm talking about the small stuff - like I said.
Why do you believe it is wrong, if I may ask? Do you have personal reasons or do you have reasons that have been pre-stated in your bible?
And Shadow, I wish to ask a somewhat more personal question; if I, for example, were to tell you that I was bi (not biCURIOUS, just bi), would you think of me any differently?
Anyway.

Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
Well . . . no, I don't, actually, if that's not all there is. XD But that's assuming there's another definition that has nothing to do with it. Erm. I have a suspicion that, whatever it is, it won't be appropriate for Twig, though . . .
Well, I guess I accept all the little acts of love between them too, even if it's not necessarily something I want to be supporting. I really am confused about my stance on this issue. ^^; It's just . . . to me, the whole reason I go about trying to believe it's wrong in the first place is because of my religion. I can understand both sides of the matter, though, and it's hard for me explaining anything because I know that not everyone here is Catholic . . . so it's like, if somebody isn't a Christian, what really do I say?
Partially because of my mom's influence, too, I guess. My problem is coming up with my own opinion when we could get in trouble for believing something that goes against our faith. I know that may sound strict, but I do understand, since I choose to be a Catholic. But it's not really in trouble . . . just, like, she'd need to try and knock some sense into our heads, I guess.
Well, no, I wouldn't think any differently of you. I don't honestly think it matters, when it comes to who somebody is, whether they're gay or bi or straight or whatever. It's just a romantic preference. I really don't even understand why somebody would have to have some special name because of it.
(And this paragraph, I think, is the most sense I've made so far.)

@Shadow: -cough- Well, it does have to do with the male x male thing, it's... um. Yeah. Not exactly appropriate for TWIG. XD
Can't you be a part of your religion and accept it?
And, yes, that is a very good paragraph. (: Thank you.

Hmm, okay. xD Wait, so like, malexmale but doing some . . . certain . . . stuff? (Because Google did have a result that was implying that the one time I searched for the definition . . . but idk, maybe it's not that either. xD)
Well . . . actually . . . now that I think about it, yeah. o.0 It's not like accepting it is the wrong thing - it's only if I were to personally go out and, like, kiss a girl or something that I'd be able to say, at least by Catholic standards, that I'd done something wrong. (Though according to my mom, going out and kissing anyone before marriage is wrong. xPP But that's not the point.)

Re: - - - SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH - - - [5.19.10] why is it...
@Shadow: It's primarily the, er, explicit actions, if you get what I mean. Yaoi fanfics are the written versions of X-rated movies. >_> So that's why it's not a good idea to throw that particular term around. XD
So, you're allowed to accept it and be around gay people, but it'd be 'wrong' if you personally - or someone else of your religion - were to turn gay/bi/lesbian, correct?

Ahh, I see. xD Okay. Well, in that case, I'm gonna defend myself and say that I was using it lightly above, and try to use some different terms from this point on.
Yeah, basically.
Now I have a question, out of mere curiosity. xD For, well, basically anyone who sees this, I guess. Would you say that being gay/bi/lesbian is a choice, or just something that happens?

*jumps into conversation*
While I don't agree with all that you're saying, Ado, I think that you're slowly accepting it more. Or at least that's what I gather.
I'm pretty sure that it's not a choice, just as you don't choose who to fall in love with. You can force yourself to, but really the decision for that is out of your hands. (:
Off topic: I hate how people use 'gay' as an insult. It just bugs me.

I hate how they say it as an insult too. Every time someone says that, I make them say it again differently.
I think that it's a combination. I think that it's in people's chemistry to like guys, or girls, but they can choose to embrace it, or choose to ignore it.
