Re: Love vs. Violence
Thank you for the votes, everyone! ^u^ It's actually pretty even.
In my opinion, it's so much easier to go overboard with romance than violence. x_x With violence, it's pretty much all down to what kinds of things bother you.
Example:
Maturity: Kinda gory. Sowwy.
And that wouldn't be edited out, most likely. *knock on wood*
However, if we take that same amount of maturity and turn it into romance... It would be edited out, I think?
Of course, I don't have to worry, because I can't write extreme gore or romance, and there's not much way to incorporate it into my stories.
But either way, I probably prefer writing romance to violence. I dunno... I've just never been good at fight scenes or anything. Not like my romance is that great either, but meh. X3 It doesn't hurt to try. Besides- for whatever reason, I'd sooner watch a good love story than a bunch of people killing each other. It all depends, though. I'd prefer Death Note to some hokey romance any day, but I'd much rather watch 1 Litre of Tears than a plotless blood fest. Although, 1LT isn't necessarily a romance... There are really strong love aspects to it, even though it's not necessarily official. It's probably one of the most beautiful romances I've ever seen. Kind of like A Walk to Remember, except about 9999999999999999999999999999 times more sad? Didn't think it was possible, but believe me. ._.
Argh, so overall, I guess I like both romance and violence; it just depends how well it's written/made. I won't watch a plotless romance or violent show. When I write, however, I tend to use more romance than violence. I may try out new things with my TWS story though, because I have to write a gory suicide. o.e

- Spoiler:
- She sliced open his abdomen, causing a bloodcurdling scream to rip from his throat. He heaved in pain as she dug his fingers into his entrails, twisting a ragged hole into the flesh. The sickening pain seared through his body, heightening when she slammed her knife into his mouth. He gagged as the razor sharp edges sawed through his tongue, splitting it into two. His cries were gurgled as he choked on the ruby that rolled steadily from the edges of her mouth, running down what remained of his shattered corpse.
And that wouldn't be edited out, most likely. *knock on wood*

Re: Love vs. Violence
I like writing violence scenes... not too gross and nauseating, but I like writing those fighting scenes. I don't know why, I guess it's better. I kind of like romance, as long as it isn't too extreme.

Re: Love vs. Violence
I find it easier to write poems and stories about romance rather than Violence. I also like reading about romance more, because it always seems to have such a beautiful, fresh story behind it. Even though it may be sad, they always come across as so lovely (no pun intended, XD) to me.
Torture scenes, or violence, is much harder for me to write. Sometimes, like one today (a freewrite) came extremely easy to me: I think its just because I'm a little mad. XDDD

Re: Love vs. Violence
Hmm. I could go either way. I love writing supernatrual, ghosts, death, shooting, etc just for the purpose of drama.
Although, every story I have EVER written has romance in it. :3 I love writing romance. I'm a very passionate person, so I love to write those mushy goodbye scenes and such.
I don't know what to vote because I write both quite often, and most likely, there's a little of both in most of my stories. Most. Some are just romance. But I love pairing romance and horror... Its so full of emotion. :3

Re: Love vs. Violence
Both.
I'll write romance, I'll write violence.
Same goes for reading.
...As long as it's not hardcore maturity. XD THAT I try to stay away from. -shudder-
Like Yaoi. Ugh. I have absolutely nothing against gays, but yaoi fanfictions are... Way too intense for my tastes.
And, well, I try to avoid really descriptive violence scenes, too. :/
But romance... sometimes you just gotta have those beautifully sweet scenes between characters. <3

Re: Love vs. Violence
I like both! [: Though, as a few others have stated, I don't go extremely into detail with either, I can stomach a good amount of both!
I'm one of those girls who will squeal and fawn over a romantic scene, and then will go cheer and cackle when she comes to a gory scene, though mentally she is shuddering at it. xD

Re: Love vs. Violence
XDD Thanks for voting, you guys. Some of your answers are quite amusing.
I would defend yaoi, but... I don't think I've ever found a clean yaoi fanfic, now that you mention it. XD Maybe Loveless, but that's more shonen-ai, and even so it's kinda dirty. -.-

Lovey-dovey scenes, actually.
I do fantastical violence, too. Depends. Meh. I need more action-adventure books, and movies. Blerrrghhhh. I'll eventually work on the violence part. But for now, yeah. xD

Re: Love vs. Violence
I might just switch my vote to love. S'long as it's minor.
I can't do explicit romance.
Because I was clueless for long moment as to what to write on the Twig's Evilest User poll. Took me forever to think of those.

Re: Love vs. Violence
Violence is easier to read, write, and watch for me.
I'm not a major romance person...it makes me queasy and uncomfortable most of the time T_T
EDIT;; I think I worded that wrong
I'm good with either, but violence I can go more mature
Romance has to be less intense for my taste

Hmm..
Gosh, I can't choose.
I love writing/reading romantic scenes....., I can actually go pretty mature (xD).
But then its the same with violence...
I guess both.

Re: Love vs. Violence
Love, definitely.
I'm a wimp when it comes to gore or violence- I get grossed out way too easily. And whenever I try to describe a fight scene, well, if you saw my character in real life it would just look like a weird and overly gory interpretive dance about milking cows. ._.
Romance, on the other hand, I'm a pro at. I've read way too many romantically fictitious books to be good for my health. And I'm just mainly better at writing romance- in my opinion, it's more fun, because whenever I roleplay I sort of imagine that I'm the character, and I'd rather be kissed than punched. xD
