[8.28.09]
I guess I should introduce myself to this diary. Weird... I've never had much of a knack for these kinds of things. Diaries. They seemed so out-dated. Fairy Princess Happy. I hate that kind of stuff. But, mom suggested it, went out, bought me one, and... I guess I have to repay her somehow... I'll just use it. what's the worst that can happen, right?

Back to introducing myself. I live in a city in western Connecticut. It's not a big city. There are no sky-scrapers or anything. I like it though. It suits our family. The city is called Danbury. I love it here. There really aren't too many people, though the high school is awfully crowded... I don't really like that all that much. But my family has lived here all my life, so, I'll live here too.

I have four sisters. Two older, and two younger. That's me, splat in the middle. Figures. My oldest sister's name is Nora. And she is perfect. Of course. Isn't that always the way it is? My family isn't very original I guess. She gets perfect grades, is a fantastic athlete, and is just... perfect... I don't know how else to describe her, really. I guess that's her only flaw, she's hard to describe...

My next sister is named Sydney. She's cool. She's normal at least. She drives a normal car, goes to school normally, comes home normally... All the same. She's really easy to talk to. Out of all of my sisters, I'd say that Sydney and I are the closest. I'm most like her.

After me is my little sister, Roxanne. She goes by Roxy now... I swear, if you're named Roxanne, you're preordained to be a trouble-maker. And that's what she is. She's not mean. No, there's not a mean bone in her body. She's the nicest girl in the world, she's just not very smart. She lacks common sense, and she makes bad decisions.

Then there's the baby of the family. Phoebe. She's fine. I don't really mind the fact that she constantly whines for what she wants. She's only going into fifth grade, so I guess she's just not mature enough.

And then, there's me. Claire. Such a plain name. Claire Summers. I really don't like it all that much, but mom says I'm not allowed to change it until I'm twenty one. I guess she hopes that by then I'll have forgotten what I wanted to change in the first place.

So, here I sit, listening to some of my favorite Broadway music, thinking, and writing. I love the way my room is constructed. It's my dream room. I guess I'm lucky. I have really loving parents, who decided that my room was re-done the last. We have a big(ish) house. I really do love my house. It's got seven bedrooms (we built it back when I was about four. My mom figured she'd have five or six kids, so we have six bedrooms. The sixth is an office now.) and like, five bathrooms. With this many girls in the house, you do not want us all sharing one bathroom... That'd be like World War III. Especially Roxy and Nora. They have to share a bathroom anyway, because of the way their rooms are, and they hate it. Both of them try to hog up the entire thing. Lucky for Roxy, Nora's going off to college soon, so she won't have to worry about it. I share a bathroom with Sydney. I don't mind. We're friends. Phoebe has her own bathroom. Of course.

School starts in less than a week. I don't know what I'm going to do there, really... Nora's going off to college, (University of Boston... nerd.) Sydney is going to be a senior, I'm a sophmore, and Roxy's just starting High School. Then, baby Phoebe is going into fifth grade. She's so much younger than us... I'm worried about Roxy though... She's, difficult sometimes. I mean, we all look pretty much alike, shorter, slender, and each of our hair colors is a little different. Nora and Roxy have blonde hair. Like, blonde blonde. Bottle blonde. Except it's not dyed... and it's really straight. I have dark brown hair, and it's really frizzy and curly. And Sydney and Phoebe's hair is somewhere in the middle. Like a wavy light brown. It's really pretty. I would gladly trade my stupid hair... But anyway, Roxy makes really bad decisions sometimes. Her last boyfriend wasn't very nice... He let Roxy start smoking. Of course, Mom and Dad still don't know. I don't know if I should tell them. Maybe I should ask Sydney. She knows too...

I loved school last year. Danbury High is great. I loved doing the show there (We did Peter Pan. It was a blast.) I really just loved the atmosphere of the school. The way it's so crowded that you can't even get to class, yet you manage to sneak through the crowds to get there faster than normal. I loved the pure clostraphobia that makes you look up as you're walking up the stairs in the science building, so you can see the space up above. I loved it all. Except maby the constant smell of cigarette smoke in the bathrooms, or the fights at lunch.

I really do love it. Not to mention that I had two older sisters to watch over me my freshman year. Sydney especially. Nora isn't really the maternal type... I don't think she'll be having kids any time soon, especially now that she's going to college. Which I'm glad for. I think she's too young to have kids right now. Not that she even has a boyfriend. She doesn't have time for one, so she says. I don't believe her. I think all of the guys think she's stuck up and too smart for her own good. I think that. I'm not afraid to say it. Unless she's reading it, in which case I'm very afraid to say it.

Dinner was uneventful tonight. We had pasta and sauce. Nothing fancy. Money's been a bit tight lately with the economy, but we're pulling through okay. Mom has a very secure job in the hospital. People know her as Dr. Anna Summers there I guess. She's one of those spinal sergions. She's amazing at it. Really smart. I guess that's where Nora got her smarts from. Although, my dad is crazy smart too. He's a professor at Western Connecticut State University. It's the local college, but it's a good college. He teaches the AP Chemestry and AP Calculus classes. He's like, crazy super genius smart.

Phoebe asked me after dinner if I wanted to play the Wii with her... I really didn't. I feel bad, saying 'no' to her so much, but she has to understand that I really don't like playing video games. Sure, every once in a while I'll play one of those 4 player races in Mario Kart. That's a fun game right there. And my sisters and I are so compettitive at it. I'm always Princess Peach, on a bike. She's cool. I only pick her because Nora likes being Rosalina, who's my favorite, so I choose my next favorite. Sydney picks Birdo... She says she likes the noises she makes when she wins.

I feel like I have so much more to say into here. It's already starting to feel like a place where I can just write what I'm thinking.

For example, right now I'm thinking that I just realized that it's 3 AM. I have to get up early tomorrow morning. I'm trying to train myself to get up early for school. The bus comes at 6:30, which means I have to get up at five if I'm going to take a shower before Sydney. Then I take like another hour to get ready. Ugh. Such a long process. Sometimes I wish that my parents would have let us be homeschooled, but I kind of don't... I like going to school. Woot, DHS. Go Hatters.

Ugh. Maybe I won't get up early tomorrow morning... or... this morning. I always get confused when I'm awake after midnight. I'll sleep in and do it the next day. I'll try to write tomorrow. This should be good.

-Claire

[8.29.09]
I really didn't sleep all that well last night... this morning... and I certainly didn't get up early. It was almost noon when I did. Well that's okay. That's a good thing about my family. You want to sleep late? Go ahead! My dad will wake you up at like... 12:30 if you're still sleeping, just to make sure you're still alive. He loves sleeping in late though, so I guess he really can't object too much.

Sydney and Nora were gone when I woke up. They left a note saying that they were going school shopping, and to call when one of us woke up so we could make plans for lunch. I called them and told them that Phoebe, Roxy and Dad were still asleep. (Mom works night shifts at the hospital on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.) They agreed to come back and pick me up and bring me to lunch.

So, I went upstairs and showered to get ready. I grabbed my purse, wallet, and cell phone and went down into the kitchen. Roxy was sitting, no, she was laying, on the kitchen table. I asked her what she was doing and she told me not to worry about it. Nora and Syd came in then, and they took over.

They even went and got Dad, because, as it turned out, she had gone out to the movies last night, came back around ten, and then snuck out again... Like I said, she doesn't make the best decisions.

I'm not really surprised. Roxy has been known to sneak out every now and then. She said that she just wanted to sleep over her friend Lexi's house. So Dad, being the parent that he is, took her cell phone and
called Lexi's house. While Roxy was jumping up and down and throwing a tantrum like a six year old I might add.

Dad talked to Lexi's parents, and they said that Roxy hadn't been there all night, but Lexi had. So, Lexi had no part of this. Oooh. Roxy lied. She was in big trouble now. And I mean, my dad's not an angry guy. He's happy, fun, but when you lie to him. Oooh Lord. Duck and cover, quickly. This man is going to explode. His yelling is the single scariest thing in the world. I actually left the room and went upstairs. (Phoebe came down, freaking out, and Sydney took her into the other room to play some video games. Nora just stood there, observing. Maybe she was taking in a few lessons for when she was a parent. Roxy was reduced to tears. She begged Dad for forgivness. Said how sorry she was, that she'd never do it again. Which was another lie, and Dad knew it.

"I don't want to hear another word, Roxanne Summers!" He yelled. "Get up to your room, clean it, and don't come out until..." he looked at the clock and decided that dinnertime was good.

I could actually still hear the yelling from upstairs. It sent shivers up and down my spine... Crazy yelling.

I finished getting ready and went back downstairs. I tentatively asked Dad if I could go with Syd and Nora to go get some lunch. He agreed. That's the nice thing about my dad. He can be freaking out angry, screaming his head off if someone lies, but if someone else talks to him a bit after, he doesn't take his anger out on them. I loved this. He knows that we didn't do anything wrong, so he doesn't take it out on us. Beautiful. I love my Dad.

Sydney, Nora and I went to Elmer's Diner for lunch. It was crowded, but I love it there. Every time I go there, whether I'm with friends or family, the owner, Elmer, always comes up to me and goes "Claire! My girl! How are you? They eating here with you, how many? When are you going to be eighteen? I cannot wait for you to come work for me." Then he smiles and brings us to the table. Sydney laughed at me...

Whatever. I had a really good lunch. I decided I wanted eggs, so I had this omlette with like, endless veggies and cheese. Mmmmm. I love eggs. They're so good. And good for you. My cell phone rang, and it was my
best friend in the entire world, Kevin. I stood up and went outside the diner to answer it, talking to Kevin for about five minutes. We decided we were going to go see a movie later. I love Kevin. He's my best friend. He's really tall, about six foot three, and he's the most amazing dancer in the entire world. He has really dark curly hair and I love dancing with him. His sister Emma is best friends with Nora, so Kevin and I have known eachother since they started hanging out. I used to beg Dad to let Kevin stay when Emma was at our house, and he used to beg his mom, Jackie. I love her. Kevin's mom is the nicest person in the world. She's a saint, I'm pretty sure. His Dad too, though he's a lot quieter.

I went back into the resturaunt and asked Sydney if she would drive me to the movies later, if Dad said yes, of course. She agreed and we finished our lunch and went back home.

Oh, just a random fact, diary, but our house is really close to the school that Syd and I go to. We could walk there if we wanted, but I think it's better to take the bus. I like the bus. And Kevin is on our bus because he lives three streets down.

We got home and Dad was had cooled off, and was playing Mario Kart with Phoebe. It's highly amusing to watch my father play video games. He's a professor who teaches advanced chemistry and calculus, but he can't figure out how to play video games. God bless him though, he sure tries. He hadn't let out on his punishment, though. Roxy was still up in her room. Supposedly. I asked Dad if I could go talk to her and he
said it was a good idea.

I went up the stairs and down the hall and knocked on Roxy's door (which is covered with posters of ACDC, Yellowcard, Skink, and a few other bands. She didn't answer. I called her name as I opened the door, but she wasn't in there. The window was open, and there was a string of blankets and towels, repelling onto the ground. Roxy was gone.

I swore and ran back downstairs, telling Dad what happened. He flipped. He grabbed the phone and called 911, telling them that Roxy was missing. He called Mom, (who was due home soon) and said that she was
missing. He told Sydney and Nora to take their cars and search around town. I decided to go with Syd. Phoebe went with Dad. Everything went on red alert, just because Roxy had snuck out... again. Oh Roxy, when will you learn. We traveled around for a good three hours. I had to call Kevin and tell him what was going on, because I couldn't go to the movies. He offered to help and I accepted. He and his sister drove around town too, but still no Roxy. Finally, after two more hours, Sydney and I went home. Everyone else was already there, and Kevin texted me, saying that he had gone home too.

Still no Roxy. A cop was sitting at our kitchen table, asking questions about Roxy. Dad was still furious, but he was talking easily to the cop. Mom was definitely worried. She paced around the kitchen until Dad told her that he was getting nauseous. The cop said that he had everything that he needed, and he left about twenty minutes later, after inspecting the rope which Roxy had used to repel down with.

Roxy came home around dinner time, just up the front stairs and then into the house and down at the dining room table while we were eating. Dad's face started to get red, and Mom decided it'd be best if we went into another room, while she and Dad talked to Roxy. Nora led us into the basement, and we played a bit of some video game and then I went up to bed. And that's where I am now. I straightened my hair, and I put my pajamas on, and now I'm sitting, at my desk (which is under my bed I might add) and writing this. I should explain my room.

I have a loft bed. It's like a bunk bed, except where the bottom bunk is there's a desk instead. And because of this, my room is more... roomy now, so I've put in a couch opposite of my dresser, and like one
of those mini fridge things. I just keep water and seltzer in it, really. We have a "no food" rule in our rooms. But my bed has stairs that go up to the top bunk, and each stair has a drawer in the bottom, plus it's got bookshelf built into the side. I absolutely adore it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Even though it's early, I think I'm going to go to bed now. Dad is still yelling at Roxy. I can hear him through the floor... Oh well. I'm gunna try to get up early tomorrow. We'll see if I can do it.

-Claire

Diary of The Middle Sister Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 8/28/2009, 1:45 pm

[8.30.09]
Oh jeez five more days until school starts... I'm kind of scared to go back to school. The constant stress and everything. Ugh... I woke up early today though. It actually felt pretty good to wake up at five. I took a shower like I would have and got dressed and ate breakfast too. I feel like a few days of this will get me set for school.

I straightened my hair this morning after breakfast. It looks okay. I did a wavy curly thing afterward and it actually looks really pretty, if I do say so myself. I like it a lot. I may do this for the first day of school. I can't figure out what to wear for that, by the way... I was thinking about jeans, but I have a skirt that might work too... Eh. I'll decide later. So after breakfast, I fed my dog (her name is Akeria. I love her. She's big, and she's black with bright green eyes. I swear she knows what I'm thinking sometimes...) and I took her out for a walk around the back yard. Then I decided to go clean my room.

It was pretty gross... I'm not going to lie, I'm glad I cleaned it. Though, I'm sure that Roxy's room is much worse than mine was. There were clothes everywhere, and my desk was piled with crap that I didn't even know I had. I grabbed a bunch of garbage bags and just shoved everything into them while I listened to some music. It was great, and now, sitting at my desk, my room looks perfect.

I even washed all of my clothes and my sheets and comforter. Now both my room, and I are ready for school to start. Well, as far as clothing is concerned. I don't think I'm mentally ready.

Sydney came in after I had finished cleaning my room, when I was laying on my bed reading. She was surprised at how clean it was. She asked me how long I'd been up, and I told her since five. We talked for a little while, and then she decided that she wanted to go to the high school track. I decided to go with her, so I changed into shorts and one of my tee shirts, pulled on my sneakers, packed a water in my purse with my wallet and cell phone and went with her to the track. We walked up the hill and then over to the high school to the track. The football players were practicing already, even though it was only around seven in the morning. One of them kept looking at me as Syd and I ran around the track. I'm not sure what his name is... But he looked okay. He was blond with blue eyes, and his hair was kind of wavy, even as it was matted to his head with sweat from playing football. He smiled at me, and I looked down, still running around the track. Syd gave me a look, but she didn't say anything until we were walking home a few hours later. I was exhausted, still am, actually.

I got home and took another shower, feeling gross and sweaty, but I didn't bother doing my hair. I knew how to do it now, and I would do it on the first day of school. It just wasn't worth it to do it again today.

Roxy, Phoebe and Nora were sitting at the table having breakfast when I came downstairs. Phoebe asked me if I wanted to play Mario Kart, and for once I agreed. I thought it might be fun, especially after three hours of running. I was really tired.

I played with her for like half an hour, but then I decided I wanted to go outside and play with Akeria. I played fetch with her for a while, until my cell phone rang, that is. It was my friend Maggie, asking what I was doing. I told her, and she asked me if I wanted to hang out later. I told her to come over to come swimming. She agreed and then asked me if Kevin was coming. This struck me as odd. Sure, Maggie knew Kevin. They were friends at school too, just like me, but... I don't know, something about the way she said it, how she was almost unsure if she should ask or not sounded weird... I told her I would ask him, but I couldn't guarentee he would come. Then I said that her little sister could come too (She was Phoebe's age) and hung up.

I went back inside and called Kevin, who agreed to come too. So did Emma. It was going to be like a little party. Woo. I told dad that a couple people were coming over to swim. He said it was fine. Yes. I went upstairs and got into my bathing suit (It's a cute little white bikini with purple polkadots.) and put on a dress over it. I put my hair up in a bun on top of my head and put on a little bit of makeup.

I came downstairs just as the doorbell rang, Kevin, Emma, Maggie and her little sister Kate were standing there. I invited them in, and we went into the back as Sydney came into the kitchen with some snacks. We went swimming for a really long time. All eight of us (Nora had gone shopping).

I noticed that Maggie was giggling a lot around Kevin. It irritated me. She wasn't being herself. I tried to ignore it and just focus on having a good time, but it was awkward when she was just being very... straightforward about it. It seemed like she liked him, which I'm fine with, but at least be yourself about it... That's just my opinion though.

They left a few hours later, but Kevin and Emma stayed for dinner. We had grilled chicken, which my Dad made on the grill. It was fun. I kind of wished Kevin had gotten to stay longer, but he said he had a dance class at seven, so he and Emma had to leave.

I went upstairs then, and now I'm just sitting here. I have facebook open on my laptop, and the first thing that I saw when I logged on was a friend request, from some guy named Jacob Eventoff. I looked at his picture, it was the guy from the football field this morning. I let the friend request sit there, so I could think about it over night. I mean, I don't even know the guy. How did he get my name? Oh well... I'm going to try and get up early again tomorrow, but you never know. I may sleep through my alarm. Though it is really loud. It's a song called Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against. One of my favorites.

Diary of The Middle Sister Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 8/29/2009, 10:06 am

[8.31.09]
Eh. I got up at five thirty. I'm making progress. It seems that the earlier I go to bed, the easier it is to get up early. Huh, who knew? I woke up and got ready again, like yesterday (except today I didn't do my hair or take a shower, because I figured that I would go running with Syd again... which I did).

We went earlier than we had yesterday, so the football players were just getting there. I picked up my cell phone as we walked there. I had eight new text messages, all from Maggie. Unbelievable...

"heyy claire. can i have kev's number?"
"i really need it"
"claire?"
"are you okay? why aren't you answering?"
"CLAIRE. I NEED THE NUMBER."
"claire, come on... why are you ignoring me?"
"CLAIREEEEEEEEE"
"ugh. fine. whatever."

I decided I would call her later, and explain that I was asleep... Meanwhile, Sydney and I were just re-tying our shoes, and who should be coming over to me than the blond football player, Jacob. I turned to Sydney who told me he was coming.

"Excuse me?" He asked me. I didn't exactly know how to respond. "Aren't you Claire Summers?"
"Y-yeah..." I told him. I get really, really nervous around guys. Except Kevin, but he's my best friend. "How do you know my name?" I gathered up the courage to look in his eyes. They were gorgeous. Like a hazel, but more gold.
He told me that Josh Wilkensin had told him. Josh was one of the big, macho football players. Tall, huge... and he was never without a girlfriend.

He asked me if maybe we wanted to hang out sometime, and I told him I'd think about it, saying that I needed to get running. He told me he wanted my answer tomorrow when I came.

So Sydney and I went running around the track for a few hours, and every time the coach stopped, he looked at me. And I really couldn't help it, I was looking at him too. I ran my heart out though. We stopped for water half-way through, and Sydney told me to slow down. I ignored her, and sprinted for another near hour before slowing down for the other half hour. We walked home then, and I waved to Jake, knowing he'd appreciate it, yet still unsure of what to say.

I got in to the house, and took a shower. First. I was sweating so much, and it was hot, and I just wanted to be clean. I got dressed and went downstairs, and everyone was sitting at the table, minus Sydney, who was taking a shower. I sat down with a bottle of water. No one was talking. Roxy wasn't eating anything. She just looked very, very pale. Phoebe was begging someone, anyone (she wasn't being specific on who) to play a game with her. I decided to go swimming, as tired as I was, and as cold as the pool would be. (And I had just taken a shower...) I asked Roxy, Nora and Phoebe if they wanted to go swimming, and they agreed. I went and changed, then got in the pool.

Yeah, I was right, it was freezing. Before anyone else got in, Kevin came strolling into our backyard through the trees. I was used to this. Kevin didn't live that far away, and our parents were fine with him just being in the house with us. It was Kevin... I'd known him since first grade, and he was always around when I was little. He stood by the edge of the pool, and I swam over. He asked me what was wrong. And I said nothing, but asked what he was talking about. He told me that Maggie had said how I hadn't answered the texts, but he didn't know what it was about.

I told him the truth, that I was asleep and I didn't get the texts until I went running this morning. He nodded, and then said something that shocked me. "I think I like Maggie." He said. Maggie? My Maggie? She was my best friend... on the girl side. Best girl-friend. Whatever! How could they like eachother? But I couldn't say any of that to Kevin, he was my best friend on the guy side! I just nodded. He sat down on the edge of the pool, his feet dangling into the water.

I jumped out of the pool and sat next to him. I asked him if he knew Jacob Eventoff, and he looked at me, shocked. He asked me why, and I told him that he had asked me out. Kevin flipped out.

"WHAT?! Jacob! You can't go out with Jacob! He's totally wrong for you! You need someone funny, not serious... about football! Come on, Claire! Think!"

I was shocked. I sat there, and waited until he was finished, and then turned to him.

"Kevin." I said. "You told me that you liked Maggie, and Maggie clearly likes you. I think it's a pretty safe bet that you two will end up going out. But I tell you that a guy asks me out, I didn't even say that I liked him, and you flip out on me and tell me why he's all wrong for me. I think I know what I want. I know what I like." I told him. He didn't answer. He turned and gave me a hug finally, saying he was sorry, that I was right, and that he was just being over dramatic. He patted me on the head and then left. Roxy, Phoebe, Nora and Syd came out, carrying towels in their hands.

I got back in the pool with them and we swam for a few hours, until the the thunderclouds had started rolling in, and my mom called for us to come in for lunch. She made us pizza bagels. They were really good. Just plain bagels, with left-over tomato sauce, and then cheese. Mmm. Loved them. I decided then to get dressed for the day. I went upstairs and changed out of my bathing suit, into jeans and a tee shirt, classicly. I put my hair up in a pony-tail once I had brushed it out, and let it frizz and curl everywhere. I called Maggie, and explained what happened, and she appologized. She said that she just really likes Kevin, and wanted his number really bad. I said okay. And then decided to go back up to the high school so I could talk to Jake.

I walked up there and then sat on the bleechers, figuring he'd come over to visit. He did, and he asked me what my answer was. I told him yes, and then I asked him if he wanted to go to the movies later. He agreed, with a very, very large smile on his face. I smiled and gave him a hug before going home to get ready for the movies. I straightened my hair and then put it back off my face, and then got into a jean skirt and a pink polo shirt. I looked kind of preppy, but I thought it looked pretty. I put on a necklace. My ownly necklace. My favorite. It's a silver chain, and it says "Dream" on it. I love it, and I love where I got it.

I went downstairs, and decided to go on the computer until dinner. Jake was on facebook and he talked to me. He asked me what time he should come pick me up. I told him that seven was good. We decided on a scary movie to see (Halloween II) and then picked a time. I told him where I lived and he agreed to pick me up.

Dinner came and went uneventful. Everyone was a bit tired, and I think that the rain which had just started was making them upset. I heard the doorbell ring about a half hour after dinner, and I opened it to see Jake. He was wearing jeans and a tee shirt, but he looked really good in it. I called to Dad, told him I where I was going, and then left with Jake. His older brother drove us to the movies, and then dropped us off. We went inside and I payed for my ticket and got a bottle of water. We were about ten minutes early, so he turned to me, and we talked about what sports we did, me, swimming in the fall, and then the school play, being a dancer, really. He told me that he did football in the fall, swimming in the winter, and then tennis in the spring.

The movie started then. It was quite gory, and very scary. At one point I freaked and turned into Jake's chest. He put his arm around me and said that it was okay. He was laughing at the movie. Trying to make it funny for me. It was working. I wasn't scared anymore. I was having a great time. After the movie, we went outside to the lobby just outside of the theaters. We sat there, having a drink each, and talked. He told me that he was one of five kids too, but they were all boys, and he was the second. I told him how all of my siblings were girls, and I was the middle child. He told me that he had just moved to Danbury over the summer, and that his oldest brother was going to West Conn this year, and his Dad had gotten transfered to Danbury hospital.

We talked for nearly an hour, until his brother called and said that he was here. We got into the car and drove back to my house, and he walked me up to my front step. He looked at me, and then kissed me simply, telling me he'd see me tomorrow. I smiled and said okay, then went inside after saying goodbye. I went upstairs almost immediately and changed into my pajamas. And that's where I am now. Happy, sitting here, knowing I have a guy who actually likes me. I called Maggie and told her what had happened, and she was amazed. She was telling me about Kevin, how he had asked her out. It looks like things are going really, really well for the beginning of the school year. I'm so happy.

Diary of The Middle Sister Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 8/29/2009, 7:48 pm

[9.1.09]
Huh... First day of September. Weird, I never thought that this would come. I start school in a few days, and I'm not sure if I'm ready. I mean, I finished the summer work a month ago, but I'm still not sure. I woke up early again today, I guess I should call it "On time" now. I got into shorts and a tee shirt, and put my hair up, ready to go running, and to see Jake. After last night. I hadn't told Sydney what happened yet, she told me right before I went to bed that she was dying for details. Dying... Okay Syd.

I walked out of the house with her at around six, after sitting at the kitchen table and talking about my date for a good half an hour, and we went to the school. There were people everywhere. Football players and cheerleaders everywhere. We looked around for a little bit, and then went to the track to run around until nine.

Jake caught up with us halfway around the track. He asked what I was doing, and I told him that I was running around the track. He told me that they were taking pictures of the football players and cheerleaders together in the parking lot, and they were looking for people to pose in as more cheerleaders. I turned to Syd, and she agreed, so we went and got dressed up as cheerleaders. The photographers were from a Magazine, and told us that they were here to document us as we trained... To bad the cheerleaders weren't going to be training today. One of the cheerleaders said that there wasn't practice today, and the guy from the magazine asked if anyone was going to be working out here. Syd and I raised our hands, and they decided to take pictures of us later while we ran. Jake was pleased...

After the pictures, the guy said he wanted to see some "chemistry" between one of the football players, and one of the cheerleaders. He asked if any of us were together, as a couple, and Jake looked at me, asking if he could say we were. I said it was okay, and we told the guy that we were together. He asked us to kiss, while he took pictures. So... we kissed.

Can I just say, Jake is an amazing kisser? He's like... perfect. I don't know. I just really like him, a lot lot lot lot lot. A lot. So once the guy was done taking pictures, Sydney and I changed back into our clothes, and then started running. We ran until just after nine, when I went over, and gave Jake a quick... nah... it wasn't quick... kiss and then Syd and I walked home.

I took another shower when I got home, and then called Maggie to tell her what had happened. She was with Kevin... Already... I found this kind of weird. I went downstairs, and Phoebe was arguing with Roxy about something...

Money, as it turns out. Phoebe claimed that Roxy had stolen fifty dollars. Roxy argued that Phoebe probably didn't even have fifty dollars. I walked out of the kitchen into the office (It's actually a double office, both Mom and Dad have desks and office-like things in there. I told Mom that Roxy and Phoebe were fighting, and she told me to handle it. I tried to find Dad, but he had gone to the college to teach. Nora wasn't home, and Sydney was in the shower.

I finally went downstairs to stop the fighting, just as Phoebe threw a bowl at Roxy. Roxy swore and caught the ball, and then threw it back at her. It hit the floor and shattered, sending broken glass everywhere. Both girls, and I were barefoot. I ran back into the office to get Mom, who had heard the crash. She jumped up and ran into the kitchen, and started screaming her head off.

Maybe this isn't clear, Diary, but I have four sisters. There's always going to be fights in our house, always punishments, always a parent screaming (usually it's my mom...) at one or more of us.

Anyway, so Mom made Roxy and Phoebe sit down at the kitchen table opposite eachother (after they had cleaned up all the broken glass) and made them talk about what happened and why they were fighting. No biggie. They worked it out, and Roxy finally got caught... She had stolen the $50... Cripes, Roxy! Ugh... she's going down the wrong path, and I wish I could save her.

After that, Nora came home, and all five of us went out school supply shopping with Mom. I got a bunch of stuff. Pencils, pens, hilighters, binders, paper, dividers, new calculator, index cards, five subject notebook, and paper clips. Woo! I'm ready for school. Oh, and I got a new backpack too. It's purple. Really cute. After we got back from Staples, I went and checked the mailbox. Three things from Danbury High School, and one from Pembrooke Elementary. I gave them to mom, and she opened each one, handing us our schedule. I was excited.

I looked over the paper, and was disappointed. They had messed up my schedule! Okay, so instead of Madrigals (the select singing group that I had auditioned for in the spring, and gotten in to) they had put my Honors Chemistry class... WRONG. This is what my schedule was in the spring:

Period 1: Honors French 4
Period 2: English 2
Period 3: Gym
Period 4: Madrigals
Period 5: World Studies II
Period 6: Algebra 2
Period 7: Lunch/Honors Chem Lab
Period 8: Chemistry

This is what they gave me today:

Period 1: Honors French 4
Period 2: English 2
Period 3: Gym
Period 4: Chemistry
Period 5: Lunch/Honors Chem Lab
Period 6: World Studies II
Period 7: Algebra 2
Period 8: Study Hall

They really messed it up. I can't stand it. I really need to get it fixed, so I talked to Mom, and she agreed to help me go get it fixed tomorrow. Roxy's and Sydney's schedules were fine though... figures. I'm always the one with the broken stuff, or the messed up schedule. Oh well.

When we got home, it was around four, and Dad was home. I decided to go take Akeria for a run, so I went running with her. It was fun. I love my dog. She's big, and shaggy and kind of old, but she's my best fuzzy friend. After I finished walking her, Dad had grilled some steak, and Mom made mashed potatoes. Dinner was really good. But of course Mom had to bring up the fight between Phoebe and Roxy, and Dad added to Roxy's punishment. Now she's grounded for three months, she's not allowed to participate in any sports or after-school activities, and she can't have guitar lessons for that long either. She's going to be really bad about this... I can already tell.

After dinner, I changed into a leotard and tights, grabbed my pointe shoes, and had Sydney drive me to Lori's Center Stage Dance Studio. (I take dance lessons every week, Monday though Friday, and Saturday starting this coming week. Yesterday didn't count though... Classes started tonight)

We worked on stretching, really. Stretching and getting tested on who was going to be selected for the solo pointe number (which is a really big honor. You get a solo dance at the age of fifteen, you know you're a good dancer) and then we got to go home after an hour and a half. I took my hair out of the bun when I got home and went on the computer (It was around 8:30)

Jake was on, so we talked for a while. He asked me for my cell phone number, so we could text, and I gave it to him. I really, really like him. So, I finally said goodbye to him and went to bed around ten. But, then I realized, that I hadn't written anything in my diary! So, here I am, writin' away about today. I don't really know what else to say though. I have a tap class tomorrow for dancing, but during the day I have a meeting about swim team. I guess I'll talk about it tomorrow. I have to get up early, no questions, and I want to go running again, because it'll be my last chance to go running before school starts, so I bid you goodnight.

Diary of The Middle Sister Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 8/30/2009, 8:08 am

[9.2.09]
Whoa. I had a really busy day. And I don't just mean... moderately busy. No, no. I mean REALLY busy. From the time I got up, at five, until I'm sitting here now, I was going and going and going and going... and going. Woo.

Well, I got up at five and got ready to go running, but I decided to take Akeria with me after I fed her. She's been acting a little down lately, I wonder if it has anything to do with me not walking her as much... Anyway, so I fed her, and brought her outside while I waited for Sydney to wake up. She woke up a bit late (closer to six) so we left at around six-thirty. We walked to the high school and watched the football players getting out of their cars. There was Jake... Ooooooooh.

I walked over to him with Akeria, and he smiled and gave me a kiss. He asked what my dog's name was, if she was friendly, how long I'd had her, all questions about the dog. I told him I needed to get running because I had swimming around ten thirty. He nodded and let me go.

We ran for three hours again. Gosh it's tiring. My muscles ache every day now. However, I won't be running anymore... Well, not on Tuesdays and Thursdays at least. I'll break down my extra curricular activity schedule for you.

Mondays: Running, 2:30-5:30; Dance, 6:30 (Advanced Tap)
Tuesdays: Swimming, 2:30-5:30; Dance, 6:30 (Pointe)
Wednesdays: Running, 2:30-5:30; Dance, 6:30 (Tap)
Thursdays: Swimming, 2:30-5:30; Dance, 6:30 (Advanced Ballet)
Fridays: Running, 2:30-5:30; Dance, 6:30 (Advanced Tap)
Saturdays: Dance, 10:30 - 8:30 (Every class again, and if I get the solo dance... I find that out tomorrow though.)

So... I'm pretty much busy every night. Except Sunday, but during the school year my family goes to church (Our church takes the summer off) in the morning, and then I usually do my homework. I'd probably see Jake on Saturdays or Sundays though. Even Fridays, but it'd have to be late...

Anyway, so we ran, I went over to Jake to say goodbye... got another kiss. (Spleeee!) The football players "Ooo'd" at us... They're so immature.

I came home and got into my racing suit and put on a dress over it, putting my hair in french braids, and then went downstairs. Mom was making breakfast. She offered me some, so I took a waffle. I had to go though. Maggie's parents were picking me up in about five minutes to go to the swimming thing.

So, Maggie's parents came. I love her parents... Mr. and Mrs. Silwell are like the nicest people on the planet. Maggie and I talked the whole way to the High School Pool (which was actually the local YMCA... but whatever) about Jake and Kevin, how she and Kevs had been hanging out all day yesterday, and were going to hang out tonight. I reminded her that Kevin had tap with me tonight, and she shrugged it off and continued a new sentence about Kevin. She was obsessed...

We got out of the car and walked into the YMCA. All of my swimming friends were there. Ileana, Paola, Kathy, Kimmy, Suzie, Bruna, Catarina, Nicole, everyone. It was awesome. Our coach (better known as Wendy) sat us down and told us to hand in the blue forms. I handed mine in. She talked (for nearly an hour) about our goals as a swimming team this year, how we should strive to be better than last time, and hope for the best, and try our best.

Then she told us to get swimming. She handed us our new swim caps, and we got into the water, doing about twenty laps before she stopped us with the horn. She then told us to elongate our strides, and end the warm-up. We moved on to breast stroke, butterfly, back stroke, and then we ended with more free style and got out. It had been 10:30 when we came, and it was near 3:00 when we finally got out. I showered and changed back into my dress, getting ready to go home and relax for three hours before going to dance. Like that would happen. Maggie asked me if I wanted to go to the movies with her. I said okay, so her parents drove us there instead, saying they would pick us up later. We went and saw some stupid chick flick about how girls can't find the perfect guy... or something. I wished we had seen Halloween II again... Oh well.

Her parents picked us up at around 5:30. They brought me home, where I took a really fast shower, and then relaxed for twenty minutes before dinner was ready. I ate dinner in silence, hungry as heck, and excited for tap later on. My Dad asked me how swimming was this morning, and I told him that Wendy had us in the pool for nearly four hours. He said that it was too long, but I disagreed. I loved swimming. Almost as much as I loved running. But not even close to how much I loved dancing.

Sydney drove me to the dance studio at 6:00 so I could be there in time to get changed. Kevin was already there when I got there, practicing his solo tap dance (I was glad I didn't get this one. Tap is not my strongest point....) I went in there and tackled him to the ground, making him laugh. We talked on the floor until everyone else got there. We just talked about Maggie, and about Jake, and about what we liked and whatever. Like I said, we're best friends. We can talk really openly with eachother. He even apologized for how he acted the other day when I told him Jake asked me out. Woo!

We danced for nearly two hours, and by then I was exhausted. After the class, I was pulling off my shoes, and Kevin asked me what I did today, because I looked so tired. I told him that I ran for three hours, swam for four, and then ate dinner and came here to dance. He looked at me and told me I looked kind of pale. I just nodded it off. I was just tired. I needed some sleep. After all, tomorrow was the first day of school.

Kevin's parents drove me back to my house. Sydney was already asleep when I got there (on the couch, actually...) I went in, said goodnight to my parents and then went up to my room, which is of course where I am now. Ugh. Such a long day. My muscles ache every time I move them. At least we won't be swimming as long tomorrow, and I have advanced ballet tomorrow, so I should find out who gets the solo dance. I really hope it's me... I can't even tell you how hard I've worked to get that dance. I want it so badly. Ugh!

I'm really tired though, so I think I'm going to bed. Tomorrow's the first day of school... Ohmigawd. I picked out my clothes, finally. I'm wearing jeans, and a purple sweater. It's really cold right now... and The Weather Channel says that it's not going to get much better. Jake just sent me a goodnight text message. Aww, that's so sweet. I have to get up at five again tomorrow... Aw...

o.0 OMG. There's so many awesome people named Jake, if you think about it!! Jake should mean 'awesome,' instead of 'supplanter' or whatever it means. xD

'Supplanter'? It sounds like someone asking a planter a question:

"Sup, planter?" That's so weird... o.O

And I think either Kevin or Sydney is my favorite part.

Diary of The Middle Sister Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 8/30/2009, 10:11 am

[9.3.09]
Wow. The first day of school was today. Crazy, isn't it? How fast summer goes? Why, just the other day I was performing on stage with Kevin every day in Funny Girl... and then A Chorus Line (I played Val.)... and then Children of Eden. Richter Park was so amazing this year, so many amazing people, so many amazing shows, so many memories, and now it's over and school's started again.

It wasn't all fun though. There was tons of drama (especially in A Chorus Line...) My friend Kate, she played Connie in the show, went away to college about a week ago. She was a really close friend. And even though she's been posting videos on my wall on facebook, I'll still miss her like crazy.

I'll miss a lot of people from the summer. I'll miss the insane sleepovers at Anna's house, or the crazy parties at Caitlin's. All of it. There was so much happiness this year, so much more of a feeling of a family, and now it's over. And I have to wait until next summer to get it all back. I guess I can live with that, and try to get through this year, knowing I have Richter auditions waiting for me.

I woke up this morning at five, went, took a shower, and did my hair (The curly way.) Then I got dressed and went downstairs to pack up my backpack, feed Akeria, take her outside for a few minutes, pack my racing suit in my backpack, eat breakfast, and wait for the bus. It was near 5:45 when I was finished. I went upstairs, and heard Sydney in the shower, and then went into Roxy's room to wake her up. She didn't appreciate that very much... she threw a pillow at my face. Whatever, she appreciated it on the inside.

At six thirty, the bus came. I got on the bus and went to sit next to Kevin, but Maggie was sitting there. They were giggling. I'm sorry, but Kevin doesn't giggle... I ignored that and looked around to see Jake calling to me from the back of the bus. The seat next to him was vacant, so I sat down. He put his arm around me, and we compared schedules. I realized that mine was still wrong, so I decided to go to my Guidance Councilor before homeroom. He said that we were in first three classes together (French, English and Gym) so he'd meet me after homeroom. I went straight to the councilor's office, trying to avoid the long line that I knew there'd be. I was able to go right into the office. I talked to Mr. Arconti, and explained to him the situation. He was able to fix it, so I was back on the schedule that I was on in the spring. Yes.

I went to my homeroom and chatted with my friends Emily, Lanny, Edmar and John about the summer, we shared stories, until Mr. Golden decided that he wanted to take attendance and stuff, and we ended up getting out of the class a little later than we were supposed to. I half rushed to French 4, seeing Jake waiting for me outside. I got in just as the bell rang.

French was pretty boring... The teacher talked about what our goals would be for this year, how she strived for us to not only be the best we can be, but to be the best that she thought we should be. Oh boy. This was going to be fun... I could already tell that this teacher was going to be a pain in the butt as far as grading and things went...

Jake and I walked together to English. Woot! Maggie was in this class! And without Kevin... but that's okay. They would have been together. I prefer them apart I think now... Anyway, English was boring. We talked about some books we had read over the summer, what kind of books we liked, and then we took a survey to help her understand what our interests were. (Jake told me that he looked at my paper while I was taking the survey, and we had most of the same things checked... He's so cute...)

After English, we walked to Gym. We were going to be running first! Yay! The teacher told us to go and change, and then we were to run a mile as fast as we could. We were split up into four groups (Jake was in mine) and we had to run. Our group was first. I started off fairly well... I mean, I wasn't sprinting or anything, even though I could. Long about the second lap I decided to sprint though. I sprinted for two full laps, then slowed down a bit for the last lap. I was still the first one done. I was told my time was just over six minutes. I was fast, I knew that. Jake congratulated me with a kiss (He had come in second, so he wasn't too bitter...) and then we had to go get changed.

Madrigals was next. I was excited. Everyone in this class was a really good singer, and that meant that I had to be really good too. The teacher didn't trust the list for the class, of who was a Soprano, or an Alto, so she made us each audition. Mine went pretty well. She chose my Western Regionals song from last year, so I knew it. The only thing was, she made me a Soprano. I guess that's okay, even though I'm really an Alto... I should probably stretch my range anyway.

After Madrigals was World Studies. Ugh, I know I'm going to hate this class. It's stupid, I can already tell. The teacher is really dumb. Her name is Mrs. Needle. You know with a name like that, she's going to be annoying... She passed out a forest's worth of papers, and told us that we'd be getting a similarly sized stack every day... EVERY DAY! I couldn't believe it... So... Much... PAPER! Ugh. I hate that class.

Then was Algebra II. Kevin was in this class with me! I love math, I really do. Thank God I was in here with Kevin. We were in math together last year too, and we had an absolute ball. We made fun of the teacher, and I got excellent grades. I don't know why, but math just comes really easy to me. Numbers make sense. Solve for x. Beautiful. I just hated the geography crap I had to deal with last year... I don't care what the circumference of the stupid circle is. I don't want to find out how far it is from this side of the triangle to that side... That crap is worthless. I'm not going to need that when I'm on Broadway. (Which I really hope I am on... eventually.)

LUNCH! Finally! I love food. I really do. And I had lunch with Kevin, Maggie, Jake and a bunch of my friends from swimming and a few from dance. My friend Lauren being one of them (She's the only girl I know in my dance classes... I'm not a very social person... I don't like meeting new people.) I had a salad, knowing that I had swimming right after school.

I went up with Maggie to Honors Chemistry after lunch was over. This. Is. The. Hardest. Class. On. The. Planet. Oh my gosh. She's so hard! I handed in all the summer work that I did (Six reports on six articles and how they contribute to society and development... plus three ideas for Science Horizons (the science fair) for later in the year.) She took it and we sat down and got to work right away. She didn't even waste any time with introductions. Apparently she didn't have time to say "Hi, My name is Mrs. LaRosa. I'll be your Chemistry teacher this year." No, no. We got right to work.

Finally the bell rang. I picked up my backpack and went out to meet the swimming bus, texting Jake to say that I'd talk to him later. Maggie and I got on the bus and went to the YMCA to swim. We did a bunch of laps, lots, and lots, and worked on dives too. Nice stuff. Then we got out of the pool, and did some work in the gym. I'm sorry, but I hate gyms. They're sweaty and gross and they're full of people who sweat and don't shower, which I hate. After that, I went and took a shower and got changed back into my clothes, and went outside to wait for Sydney. God, I couldn't wait until November. Then I got my permit, so I could drive. Sydney drove Maggie home, and then we went home too.

It was around 5:45 when we got home, and Mom was making dinner. I called Jake after I ate and we talked while I got ready for Advanced Ballet. He asked me how swimming was, and I told him that it went pretty well, I was just exhausted. I asked how football practice was, and he said that it was going really well, and that their first game was next week. He asked if I was going anywhere, and I told him that I was going to dance class. He asked what class, I told him advanced ballet. Then he said something that made my stomach flutter and my heart rate go wild: "I bet you look absolutely beautiful when you're dancing." I fought back the flutters and said thank you, and told him that I had a recital some time in December for Christmas. He said he'd come, and we hung up.

Nora drove me to dance as an almost goodbye. She was leaving tomorrow morning, really early, so she could get settled into her dorm room. She dropped me off and I thanked her, before running in and pulling on my pointe shoes.

Advanced ballet is different than pointe. Pointe is the actual class, but advanced is where you learn the really hard stuff. You have to audition to get into that class, and the teacher only takes twelve students. Lauren, that girl in my lunch is in this class. She's amazing. If anyone deserved that solo more than me, it was her.

Finally, after two hours of dancing and stretching and everything, Miss LaTour told us who would be getting the solo dance. She put in a dramatic pause (Just despite me, I imagine...) and then told me that I got it. I was overjoyed! So happy! She said that it meant that I was going to have to stay a little longer on Saturdays, but I had already planned that. I was so happy! So excited! Yay!

I got home and told Mom and Dad, and the rest of my sisters (I told Nora in the car) and they were just as excited. Phoebe was a bit jealous (she doesn't really have something that she's good at... besides kicking my butt at Mario Kart) but she got over it fairly fast.

I went upstairs and called Kevin right away, and then Maggie. They were both super excited, and Maggie told me that she and Kevin had kissed. They kissed! They can't kiss! And what happens when they break up? What then? Who do I side with. Ugh...

I decided that I'd tell Jake tomorrow on the bus, but Kevin was way happier. He was so excited that the two of us had gotten the solo dances. Yay!

I need to do my homework though... I have a lot... Oh well. I should get to bed too. I'm going out with Jake tomorrow night after dance. So excited!
