*Mod Post* ^^

Cat, please remember to use proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization in your posts. This is a writing forum, and doing it on a Mod's own thread is a bit obvious... Okay?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by your keyboard having a seizure, but you do need to listen to the mods, Cat. Keri just reminded you about the grammar, and I find it impolite that, right after that, you make a post doing exactly what she advised you against. I can understand it if your keyboard really did get messed up or something, but since I'm not on your end of the computer, I don't know what really happened . . . anywho, yeah. Please make sure you listen to the mods. Smile

Aw. xD That's okay Keri, though.

Diary of The Middle Sister - Page 5 Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 9/25/2009, 4:27 pm

[1.6.10]
Today is a Wednesday. Not that that has anything to do with why my day was so rotten today, I just felt like sharing...

There's a reason why I haven't written for the past few days, though I am trying hard to write everyday, it seems that it's just not possible sometimes. Will there ever be a month, or year, in my life, where tragedy doesn't strike me or someone I love?

No, diary. I know what you're thinking. Phoebe isn't dead. Thank God. I'm so glad that she's not. I don't know what I'd do if she had died... I would know what Kevin feels like, but that is a pain that I'm not ready for, and I'm unwilling to take.

Akeria died...

Yes, my lovable little puppy died. No, she wasn't really a puppy... She was twelve years old. But she was an eternal puppy in my heart. I loved her.

I got Akeria when I was three. She was a Christmas present. I'm not quite sure how she ended up with her name... I think my mom suggested the name and my three-year-old-self said something like: "That's pretty, Mommy!" Of course, that was way before Phoebe was born... Akeria was a bouncy little black lab. She had bright green eyes, even until she died. I really miss her.

Akeria has been there through the worst. She was there for me when Phoebe was born, and I was thrown into jealousy. Being the middle sister in a group of five siblings isn't that great. She was there for me when my great-grandpa died four years ago (that made me really sad. I loved Grandpa Frank. He was sporty, youthful, even in his old age. Maybe I miss Akeria because I saw that she had the same kind of bouncy spirit) and she was there for me during these past few months, which have been the most trying of my entire life.

I think I really miss her because she listened. She used to lick the tears off my face when I'd cry, or come swimming or running with me. I could play with her for hours on end, and know that she still wasn't tired, or that she still wanted to play more. She was my best friend.

I know it seems kind of weird, lame almost, but I do miss my pet... She was the first pet that we had, other than Nora's black cat Salem. I think our family has a thing for black pets with green eyes... Salem is the same way. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get another dog any time soon... I miss Akeria too much.

I took one of Akeria's dog tags. It's dark green, and it just says her name on it in a fancy script, and it's bone-shaped. I put it on a necklace. I'll wear it sometimes. I'll just miss her if I don't. I've put up one of the billions of pictures of Akeria and I in my room. Maybe someday I'll make a scrap-book.

She died on Monday, when I came home from school.

Oh, let me tell you about school.

I went to Danbury High School, hung out with Kevin and Maggie in the morning, and then strolled to French, surprised to see that my teacher wasn't there... We waited like twenty minutes, and she never showed up, so we finally went and got a teacher. The teacher just said to wait for a while longer, but it was really a waste of a period, because she never came...

The rest of the day was boring, except for lunch. There was a fight. Eight or nine really tall guys were bashing each-other with trash cans, and shoving food into their faces. It ended up turning into a full blown food fight, which the teachers couldn't stop, so they joined. It was great, except for the fact that someone had soup... It hit Jake right in the chest. I couldn't help but laugh as he danced around taking his shirt off and asking us to squirt water on him. It was really funny.

After school, I walked home because Sydney had some commitment with senior pictures and Roxy was going to her friend's house. (They take pictures of the seniors with their cars for the yearbook, though normally they do it during the fall, because there's no snow on the ground...) I went in and saw that Akeria was panting heavily on her side. I looked at her and she looked at me, and I swear, I could see pain in those green eyes. It was almost like they were saying; "This is it, Claire. You gunna keep your promises? You gunna be strong?" I watched her eyes close, and her chest stopped rising and falling. I sat there, tears in my eyes for a few minutes before I re-gained the sense to go and call the nearest animal hospital. They said that there was nothing they could do for Akeria, that she was gone...

I took the news and brought her outside to lay on the deck. I called Mom at the hospital and told her what happened. She came home and called Sydney, Nora, Roxy and Dad, sharing the news.

Tuesday. I didn't go to school yesterday. First of all, because it was a snow day. We figured it'd be a good day to bury Akeria. It didn't snow all day, it was just the fact that there was ice on the roads that kept us from going to school.

We dug a six foot deep hole and put Akeria in, along with a few letters and a few of her favorite toys. Then we buried her and put a rock at the head of the grave. It still pains me to look at the grave...

I was the last to go inside. I just can't bare that she's gone.

Today was kind of boring... Nothing really happened. Phoebe got dis-charged from the intensive care unit in the hospital. She's in a regular cancer treatment room now. Which is good. I don't like the smell of the ICU. It smells like death. I don't want my baby sister to smell like death.

She was sad to hear that Akeria died, and she gave me a new hat she had knitted as a present. The color is the same as Akeria's eyes were.

I had INK'D* (my youth group) tonight. It was nice to hear how everyone's doing. Emily found it really upsetting that Akeria had died... Especially because she knew Akeria. (Emily and I often went on walks together.)

I told Kevin today too. He hugged me and then told me it was okay before throwing a snowball at me to cheer me up. January is dragging on kind of slowly.

I have a mound of homework to do tonight. I should get started, and keep my promise, like Akeria said.

-Claire.

NUUUUU! D=

I read the sad part, and the moment was TOTALLY ruined cus I was listening to Anakin vs. Obi-Wan, too! >.> Hmmph.

I'm gonna try again. In silence. nod

Now I have tears in my eyes! Yay!

I really liked that chapter. And now I feel bad for Claire. ._. Losing a dog sucks. It wasn't even as bad as it is for her when I lost Shadow, I bet, cus I hadn't got a chance to become tooo attached to him . . . even though it was horrible. But I just know it'll be a New Moon scenario for me when Angel dies. I don't ever want her to leave me. Sad

Diary of The Middle Sister - Page 5 Empty Re: Diary of The Middle Sister

Post by Akeria 9/26/2009, 9:06 am

[1.9.10]
What to say... I really don't know. I'm in a very weird mood today, and a lot happened yesterday.

Yesterday, Roxy came home from school in tears she was crying franticly, and her jeans were ripped and stuff. I could smell the cigarette smoke on her, but I didn't say anything. She told me quickly that she wasn't smoking anymore. She promised. She had to.

Roxy is pregnant.

She told me so in a rush of tears. How last month, a week before Christmas, her boyfriend had decided that was what he wanted. Roxy knew by Christmas that she was going to have a baby. She looked at me, wide-eyed and begged me not to tell Mom and Dad. I agreed, reluctantly, but told her that I was going to tell Sydney. We decided not to tell Phoebe except for later... She'd want to know, but right now wasn't a good time.

The phone rang, and it was Mom. She was calling to ask about dinner. I cooly told her that fast-food was fine (I was still trying to put on a few pounds...) and hung up. Roxy looked at me, wide-eyed.

"Claire, you don't understand." She said. "If Mom and Dad find out, they'll never let me see Craig again." She looked down and touched her belly.
"Roxy, you have much more to worry about than seeing Craig again. You're a freshman in high school. You can't support a baby... Seriously! You're going to have to tell Mom and Dad. I won't be the one to do it, but you have to."

I stroked my necklace, it was still the "Dream" one I had worn for my first date with Jake. I hadn't taken it off since then.

I realized I had said a lot to Roxy in that moment. And It was true. But I sat down next to her on the dining room table. "What are you going to name the baby?" I asked her gently, touching her shoulder.

She told me that if it was a boy, she'd want to name it Christopher. She's always loved that name. If it was a girl, then she'd name it Amanda. She wouldn't let her baby be a victim of what she was a part of.

Sydney came home, arms full of groceries and mouth full of news. She quickly told us that Nora's boyfriend (They had been dating for nearly two and a half years now) had proposed! They were getting married.

Which was perfect. I came up with a plan. Nora would absolutely take care of Roxy's baby. No matter what. Nora and Roxy, as different as they are, are very close. The baby could live. Roxy told Sydney her problem, and Sydney listened with wide eyes. Sydeny said the same thing I said; "You're a freshman! You can't support a baby! You have to tell Mom and Dad!" I interrupted her, telling them my plan, to give the baby to Nora.

As it turns out, we didn't have very long to discuss it. Nora flew through the door, showing us her engagement ring and saying how she was glad that she was getting married now. She was twenty two, after all...

Roxy asked the question.

Nora stood there, in shock, almost. She walked over to Roxy and looked at her, saying; "Of course I'll take the baby." She sprung into action, saying that Roxy needed vitamins, doctors appointments, and everything. Roxy went with her, and they left.

The rest of the day was fairly boring.

But today was pretty weird...

Phoebe came home again, hopefully to stay this time. The doctors say that she's doing much much better, and she should be able to go to school next week! We had a big celebratory dinner with our grandparents. Even Kevin's family came.

Everyone's downstairs playing video-games right now, except for me and Kevin. He's sleeping on my couch, his parents said he can stay here for the night.

Did I mention that Roxy told Mom and Dad she was pregnant? It wasn't very pretty... After a looooooooooooooooooooooooong lecture, Mom started to cry, and so did Dad. That was pretty shocking. He kept saying "I didn't want her to be like this... What did we do wrong?" He was in bad shape. But Nora stepped in, and as upset as Dad was, he straightened himself out to talk to her. Nora explained how she'd be willing to take the baby, but even that didn't help to ease Dad's nerves. "You're only in college! How are you going to take care of a baby? Even if you're getting married!" (Nora had told that news fairly quickly.)

"Mom, Dad. There is actually something I wanted to tell you. I decided not to go to college anymore. It's really not my thing. There's too many people, smoking, drinking, it's a lot to handle, even with me focusing on school work. Brian and I are going to be very happy. He's 26, he has a good job, and we can support a baby. Besides, I talked it over with him last night, and he says that he'd want me to stay home with him or her, at least for the first year or so. I can worry about being a working parent later. Right now, I just want this baby safe."

This shut Dad up.

Kevin just woke up for a second, I hid the diary under my mattress, where it belongs. He said "Claire? Are you going to sleep yet?" I didn't realize that it was after midnight...

Oh well. He's sleeping up in my queen-sized bunk bed now. I'll sleep on the couch I guess.

Mom and Dad are still mad at Roxy, but they're glad she told them. I am too. And I'm glad she's not smoking. It seems that life is going better for her, and for Nora.

But what about me?

-Claire.

To be honest, this wasn't part of the original plot, but it works better than what I had planned. Very Happy You'll see what happens. Very Happy (Roxy's only 13... Don't forget. She can't exactly get married... Lol)
