"I come to your house?" I asked, my tummy rumbling again.

"Just a sec." I grabbed Amanda's hand and launched, my fourteen-foot wingspan expanding. Her almost-13-foot wings expanded as well as we flew over the ocean. "We don't have a home!" I hissed, letting go of her hand. "We can't just let the little girl starve!" Amanda said. "We barely eat! The flock is used to not having food... but she's not. If we bring her home, she may become a brat!"
It was the longest thing Fang had ever said. "Well, what are we supposed to do? Just leave her there?"

I watched them fly away. I fell to the ground sobbing. I decided to wrap my wings around me to keep warm, which hurt. I'd tried to fly away one time from the scary place but the man just snappped my wings together, and they always hurt after that. That's why I did'nt try to fly after them, it hurts.

"Amanda, what can we do? She's just a kid." Fang sighed, flying closer to me. "We can't bring her back to the flock." I agreed. "And neither of us knows where to find food." Fang added. "So, you expect me to just fly off? And leave her?" He sighed. "No. But we can't bring her back." He unexpectedly turned the other way, and I followed, landing on the beach a few minutes later.

I kept sobbing. Mostly because of the people leaving me, and partly because of the ache in my wings because of the whitecoat.

Realizing I was still holding Fang's hand, I immediatly let go, blushing lightly. Fang rolled his eyes as we walked to the little girl. "Kara?"

Fang stopped in mid-rub, gripping my arms tightly. "Fang..." I muttered. "Sorry." He let go of my arms, but took my hand comfortingly. "Look, Kara..."

Tears welled up. They were goning to say I couldn't stay with them. I hadn't eaten in days, had bruises everywhere, and something wrong with my wings.

"You're a really sweet girl..." I began, and Fang gripped my hand tighter. He rubbed soothing circles with his thumb. "But we really don't haveroom for another member of our flock." Fang muttered, but I was sure Kara could hear it. "Fang, don't be like that." I murmured quietly.

I turned away from them and ran down the beach. I sat down then cried and cried.

"See?" I sighed. "I'll see you later Fang." I let go of his hand and ran a few feet, launching into the air silently. I flew over the beach a few times until I saw Kara, and I soared down to her. "I'm sorry... Fang can sometimes be like that."

I woke up and couldn't find Kara. I ran down to the beach. I scanned until I saw her. "Kara!" I ran over and scooped jer into my arms.

Fang appeared silently next to me, his features grim. "It's fine." I murmured, watching, a bit confused.
