"Hey!" I snarled. On instinct, I was already on my feet, my body tensed for a fight. "Fang, calm down. It's nothing." Amanda moaned quietly.

"Shhh. Come here, sweetie." Amanda gathered the girl in her arms, and shot me a glare. "She's just a little kid." She muttered, still glaring. "Sweetie, I told you; Fang's the scariest thing here."

She leaned on my shoulder, her frail body shivering slightly. Supressing a sigh, I wrapped my wing around her yet again, and she smiled at me. "Thanks." Her smile was brilliant, and the feeling from yesterday came over me again. Beauty... pure, fierce beauty. "You just have to wait, sweetie. I've known him forever; he's nice."

"Okay." I said, but I still kept my distance from him when I could. I stretched over to where I was on the other side of her arms, away from him.

"He's safe, sweetie." She murmured, her head resting on my shoudler causually. Usually I'd shrug it off, but she was so sick that I probably shouldn't.

Amanda's eyes drifted shut, and I sighed. The little girl was sure to freak out now that Amanda was out, and I didn't know what to do.

I fell asleep on the girl. My face flushed, a red color.

Oh, good riddance. They were both asleep.
"Fang..." Amanda murmured, her eyes opened. "Oh, gosh, Fang. Get the kid off; I think I'm about to puke."

I quickly picked up the girl and put her on Samantha's lap. "Come on, Amanda." I murmured, leading her towards the end of the cliff. "Flying might help."

(Yeah. I think Fang wouldn't take to kindly to Kara, because she's a stranger.)
I woke up and watched them. "I come to?" I asked. I couldn't fly, because of my wings being messed up, but I liked flying, like somoen holding me.

I shook my head immediatly, looking at Amanda's pale face. "Come on." Her hand slowly reached for mine, and I felt how cold and smooth it was. "I won't let you fall." I promised, seeing the fear in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, sweetie." Amanda let go of my hand, but then swayed and grabbed it immediatly. "But this is something we have to do alone. I don't feel well at all."

Later on, I was sneezing, and my face was hot.

We launched off into the night, Amanda's hadn still in mine for support. About ten minutes later, her face showed that she couldn't go on like this much longer.
I landed immediatly, in the middle of a large forest. Amanda was pale and clammy, her face sticky with sweat. "Fang... I don't feel well at all."
I helped her up, lying a cool hand to her forehead and one on the back of her neck. We got to a stream, and then she fell.
She coughed harshly, wildly, as I sat patiently beside her, my hand keeping the long, dark golden hair from getting in her face as she threw up.
A few hours later, after we thought the puking episode was over, we were in the middle of the forest again, her head on my knee, my hand on her head.
"It's beautiful." She murmured, looking up at the sky. I said nothing, pushing her bangs off to the side. She smiled at me, one of her true, bright smiles, and I couldn't help but smile back.
In the morning, Amanda seemed better, so we started flying off to the cave. I watched her, making sure she wasn't about to, say, drop out of the sky, but she was fine until we got to the cave.

"Kara! Sweetheart!" Amanda ran over to her, gathering the little girl in her arms. "Shhh."
