AUGH! SUSPENSE! XD You gotta add more soon, for the sake of my sanity - oh, wait, nevermind. I don't have any sanity. But add more anyway!
Re: Candlewood [Chapter VIII Finished.]

Re: Candlewood [Chapter VIII Finished.]
Thank you, and I should probably write some more... I haven't in quite a while.
Re: Candlewood [Chapter VIII Finished.]
Good job! I tried to write a mermaid story once, and it was awful compared to this.

I just don't like when mermaids are portrayed as like gorgeous and singing. These guys are mean.
Re: Candlewood [Chapter VIII Finished.]
That latest part was weird with all the screaming. Good.

It's funny how the mermaids like to murder fishermen.

Chapter IV:
Deryck
stood there, frozen at the edge of the lake. "Of course." He said
simply. "I can't believe it. It was too good to be true." The sun was
just over-head now, and Deryck sighed and walked home alone. He stood
at the door of his car, thinking about whether or not he wanted to go
to work that Saturday. He finally decided that he would. He got in the
car and drove to the other side of town, to the mall.
He walked
in. Trying hard not to vomit everytime he saw a girl who moderately
resembled Scarlette. He wanted to feint... He wanted to call in sick.
But he walked into FYE confidantly, and put on his badge, then took his
spot behind the register, to answer stupid questions that the customers
had, and ring up orders.
***
"See you tomorrow, Deryck.
Good work today." His boss told him as he left. He nodded. It was
nearly six. Six hours, he had worked. He got into his car and drove
back home.
The road was quiet. Birds were chirping ominously in
the distance. A song that wasn't very recognizable. Suddenly, the song
stopped, and a girl ran out into the center of the road.
"Please!"
She pleaded, she turned around, back to the way she came and screamed
as a man came out of the trees where she had come from. Deryck looked
at the girls face. It was Scarlette. The car was still to far away.
"Please! No! I... I didn't mean for this to happen!" She pleaded with the man. He smiled and laughed, coldly.
"Silly
little Scarlette." The man said. He had to be at least forty, more,
probably. "You need to learn to respect our laws!" He thundered.
Scarlette shook to the ground, writhing in pain. The man laughed.
Deryck had seen enough.
He got out of the car and ran to her side.
"What?
You again? Oh. Now you'll get the taste of what was coming to you." The
man said. He raised his hand. Scarlette raised hers faster, even as she
was being tortured. She struck the man with some kind of purple
lightning that generated from the tips of her fingers. The man flew
backwards and smacked his head on the curb. A silver substance rushed
out into a pool underneith him. Blood. He was bleeding.
This didn't phaze Scarlette. She stood up, she wasn't shaking anymore. Her body was badly cut up, worse than this morning.
"Come with me." She said, pulling him toward the car. She got in the drivers seat. Deryck got into the passenger seat.
"Where
are we going?" Deryck asked. Scarlette didn't answer. She put the car
in gear and drove toward the highway, going at least 100 miles an hour.
"Scarlette! Where are you taking me?" He screamed.
She still
didn't answer, she took a sharp left away from the highway and drove
into the parking for Candlewood Lake. She got out of the car and ran to
the edge of the water, looking around.
"We'll be fairly safe
for now." Scarlette said. "I have something to tell you." Deryck sat
down, and she sat down next to him. "I know what happened to your
father. And befor you say anything, I just want you to know that this
is when I was different. I wasn't who I am today."
