As the class came to a closing, I zoned out. What about Alexis? Was she ok? Would she forgive me?

I was so relieved when the bell rang, signaling the end of Math. I walked over to Alex. "Are you okay? You looked a little nervous in Math."

I wrinkled my nose. Underneath my sweatshirt, I had a wristband, covering my bracelet. It was made of loosely braided threads, intertwined with karma beads. Just like Meluu did, I too, had a steel portal ring, set with a shimmery silver stone.

"I understand. Here's my phone number, you know. If you want to talk. I'm going to Science." I quickened my pace. Science was good- not too much learning. And many different answers. Being wrong was okay.

I was shocked, just as I knew Meluu was.

I sat in Science feeling guilty. Alex would deny it, but it's all my fault. I was the one that started the first conversation. I felt horrible.
