He nodded, and said, "No problem..."
He zoned out for a second, but after hearing something, he threw his arm around Kathy's shoulders, though it was lightly. He was very protective now, no matter what it may be. He saw it walk by, seeing it was Kevin, again. He'd stumbled this way, not noticing, probably because he was pretty well beat. Jesse growled, and Kevin ran off.
Jesse released his arm from around Kathy.

Kathy smiled, " Mmkay, " she said. She realized she'd been closing her eyes so she opened them. She looked around, then looked at him, " So... " she said trying to break the silence.

"I don't... know..." he said, looking back at the ground. He felt strange. He looked over at her, now.

" You don't know what? " Kathy asked him, a smile twitching at her lips.

"What we should do..." he said, silent for a few seconds, and then said, "Sorry... It was awkward during the past few minutes..."


(No problem!)

" It's fine... " Kathy said, " I guess... " she pursed her lips, then shrugged.

Jesse nodded once, falling silent. He fell backwards, with a soft thump, and stared up at the sky.

Kathy brought her knees up to her chest & wrapped her arms around them. She looked at Jesse, " So what do we do now...? " she said softly.

"That's what I'm trying to fathom..." he said. Not many people used some of the words he did. It made him fell odd.
He thought, now.

" Mmm... okay, " she said, pursing her lips & staring towards the distance.

Jesse managed to pull his hood up in a blur, and close his eyes, still in thought. 'Somewhere safer...' crossed his mind, first.

Kathy thought for a moment, " Hey, I think there's a river somewhere close... " she said, " We could go there, maybe. " she shrugged.

Jesse sat up quickly, and siad, "ok." he smiled, lightly. Convincingly.

" Okay, let's go, " she said, smiling & standing up.

Jesse stood up, slightly by her side.

Kathy began walking towards the river, " So, um... " she said. Gosh, this was so awkward!

'This was easier when she was human...' he thought. Then he thought of something to say. Something a little less awkard then his protective phase.

Kathy kept walking, not watching where she was going but instead immersed in her own thoughts. Heck! I don't even know where I'm going...

Jesse lightly sniffed the air, smelling where the river was. "This way..." he said, calmly, looking over at her.

" Oh what? " she said, then looked at him. " Yeah, um... sorry. "

He fell silent again. 'Think!' he thought to himself. 'Haha, telling myself to think doesn't work... Wow...' he finished thinking.

Kathy could hear the river flowing, & knew they were close. But then she heard it was getting a bit more distant.
Ugh, I probably made a wrong turn or something! I'm acting like such a ... weirdo & dumb girl. I should go home... I'm probably sick or something. she thought, angry that she was acting so dumb.

Jesse stayed quiet, hanging in the distance. 'I really wish I couldn't read minds or thoughts... It would make life a bit easier... She's not dumb... Nor weird... Sometimes a little naive sounding... But we all are...'

Kathy then remembered that Jesse could read people's minds. Aghh, shoot. She turned around to look at him, " You probably already know that I have no idea where the heck am I going, right? " she said, biting her lower lip.

Jesse shook his hand, meaning to say, 'somewhat.' He looked at her. "It's no big deal... I can block it out, but sometimes, I can't..."
