RACE AGAINST MACHINES
My name is Akeria. At least, that's what you can call me. I'm an opinionated writer. You don't have to read what I have to say, but take into consideration, you might want to listen. Use your ears, all of your senses as you read my blog posts. More often than not, they're deeper than what they appear.

Poem of The Day
Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew.
It's the same when love comes to an end,
or the marriage fails and people say
they knew it was a mistake, that everybody
said it would never work. That she was
old enough to know better. But anything
worth doing is worth doing badly.
Like being there by that summer ocean
on the other side of the island while
love was fading out of her, the stars
burning so extravagantly those nights that
anyone could tell you they would never last.
Every morning she was asleep in my bed
like a visitation, the gentleness in her
like antelope standing in the dawn mist.
Each afternoon I watched her coming back
through the hot stony field after swimming,
the sea light behind her and the huge sky
on the other side of that. Listened to her
while we ate lunch. How can they say
the marriage failed? Like the people who
came back from Provence (when it was Provence)
and said it was pretty but the food was greasy.
I believe Icarus was not failing as he fell,
but just coming to the end of his triumph.

What I Really Have To Say Today
This whole blogging thing really doesn't work for me... Just this moment, have I really started to connect with my inner-writer. Maybe it's because of all of the anime I've been watching lately? I'm almost at season three of Yu-Gi-Oh. That's... eighty-two episodes in four days... So, a combined total of twenty and a fourth episodes per day? That's not something to be proud or ashamed of, considering each one is like... twenty minutes long. But they're all online.
Technically I'm supposed to be in bed right now, but I was looking through the Original Works section, and I thought "Eh, I can crank out another four chapters of Quarantine. So I did, and they're up there for you to read. I have to say, that my writing style has really evolved over these past few years. I didn't really start writing until about seventh grade (coincidentally, that happens to be around the time that I joined WI, and when I met Shads and Newmsie and all thems... :3) But, I can honestly tell you that my first RP post went something like this: "Hi." That was it. I had no idea what I was doing, or what RPing was until I decided on a whim to join... Huh, probably one of the moments that defined me as a writer, come to think of it.
Anyway, I decided to write another four chapters of Quarantine, and I did. They're actually pretty good, and I love the way that story is written. The chapters are only like one hundred words each, and they all start with either "My name is Alice." or "My name is Parker." Go ahead, take a wild guess that those are the two main characters. I'm really happy with the way that this story is turning out, even if it's only a few hundred words in. I seriously doubt I'll have enough plot to get it up to fifty thousand words, because of the way it's written, but it really doesn't have to be that long. Or, maybe it will be. I haven't decided...
Alternately, I'm working on Sn0w Whit3 (Which I should really write more on... Maybe I'll take a notebook to work with me tomorrow so that I can do it? Or maybe I'll take my homework so I can do that while at work... Me, decisions...) But that's about this girl, with seven younger brothers and sisters (It is called Snow White...) So, whatever. It's going pretty well, but I'm kinda stuck right now. I know what I want to happen, but... I don't know how to make that happen... Eh.
Then of course, there's Prone. I haven't worked on this story in one... two... three... carry the five... like three months? It's bad. I have Keri-itis; which, by the way, is worse than writer's block, because I have the ability to write, but it feels more like a chore than pleasure. Free-writing doesn't really help me... I can't deal with it...
And SURVIVOR. Probably one of the coolest fan-ficy-except-not-really-fan-ficy-novels I've ever started as a project. It's *VERY* loosely based around Lost. There's a plane crash on an island... that's about all that's fan-ficy about it... Anywho, it's written in the form of a diary, from the point of view of Quinn Nolan, who's trying to keep records of what the people who survived the crash do during the day, etc. At the same time, there's another part of it, where a young girl has found the diary while on vacation to the island (which is now a resort, I've decided) and is reading it and learning about these people. It's kind of all intertwined though, so it's cool. I'm happy with the plot (which I decided on while I was bored on the way home...)
From A Distance... Such a good idea. Ah, broken promises... I'll probably never work on it... Well, never is a strong word... I said that about my idea for a race of humanoids that live in a very minimalistic society that's trying to be over-ruled by people with technology, and there's something about tattoos and junk... (Which I'm going to write for the TwigNoWriMo, if it happens/when it happens over the summer. It was supposed to be my novel for last year, but... I was working on DoTMS back then... Which I still haven't finished, FYI...) But From A Distance is about these people, called Seers, and how they like... see and stuff. I don't want to ruin it. It's somewhere on the forum... To Be Published, I think?
But blogging. (Wow, I think I just set a record for most off-topic blog post ever... Ugh, I fail...) I really don't think it's going to work out for me to post every day, so how about every Friday? I can work that into my writing schedule? Hehehe! Woo! Yay for loopholes!
Speaking of writing schedules, you should go write one, if you haven't already. You can find the thread in the "Writing Stuff to help... etc." forum. It's like under the music and books section... Just go find it, I have no idea where it is...
I think I'm done? Maybe I'll go write some more, since (and evident by this blog post) I'm in such a verbose mood... Kind of irritating that I'm only in verbose moods AFTER I'm supposed to be sleeping. Whatever...

Questions For Thought
1. What stories are you working on?
2. Do you do character development?
3. What do you do to prepare for NaNo/TwigMo?
4. Do you have a writing schedule? If so, what is it?
5. If you were stranded on a desert island, and you could only bring one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would you pick? (Personally, I'd pick Tacos. There's so much stuff in them, that you could pick and choose what you wanted from day to day, so you wouldn't get bored of eating it as fast... Just sharing.)

Re: RACE AGAINST MACHINES (MAY TWENTY-EIGHTH TWO THOUSAND TEN) --- Maybe I Was Wrong...
Gorgeous poem. o_O
Your stories are all so marvelous, Keri. x3 I'm glad that (for the most part) you're happy with them, too. :3 That's always good.
1. Oh man. Oohhhh man. There's too many. But the ones I'm hoping to focus on right now are Dragon Soul, the untitled one about David and Lyssa, The Voices in My Head, and maybe Shadow Souls. Or I could start writing Lost Souls, too . . . that would be awesome . . .
2. I only ever did once. But it was worth it. :3
3. I go through my idea journals, figure out which one(s) I wanna use, plan out the characters, make sure I know where the story starts and ends, usually figure out some plot points, and lay down my (always unoriginal) settings. Maybe I'll give them a new sorta setting next time.
4. Yep! On Friday I work on random stories, the David and Lyssa one on Saturday, Dragon Soul (and the sequels maybe) on Sunday, and whatevs on the other days.
5. Hmm . . . spaghetti, with meatballs, and swedish fish sprinkled on top. Then I could pick the swedish fish off and eat them for dessert.

Re: RACE AGAINST MACHINES (MAY TWENTY-EIGHTH TWO THOUSAND TEN) --- Maybe I Was Wrong...
I'm mentioned! -feels so honoured-
Your writing really has gotten loads better since you joined WI. You're really awesome at it now! And even though you think it's not that good, I like the way you begin the chapters with "My name is Alice..." because it just kinda sets the tone. Y'know, cuz its the only thing she knows....?
1. What stories are you working on?
My night terror story, called Ashling's Dreamland! Maybe I'll post it later....
And another story, which is a fairy-tale adaption of random musings of my cross-country team. I'd post it, but it wouldn't really have the same effect on y'all....
2. Do you do character development?
Nah, not really. I should though.
3. What do you do to prepare for NaNo/TwigMo?
.....eh, come again?
4. Do you have a writing schedule? If so, what is it?
Not really, I write when I'm in the mood.
5. If you were stranded on a desert island, and you could only bring one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would you pick? (Personally, I'd pick Tacos. Wow....tacos. That sounds delicious. But I'd need something to drink.
I'd take apples. They're refreshing and filling, so I won't get too thirsty, and they're actually as good for your teeth as brushing them is.

Those are solid foods to pick, but Tacos are definitely the way to go. Or even if you just said taco ingredients. Hehehe!

That poem is so beautiful!
1. What stories are you working on? None at the moment.
2. Do you do character development? Not really.
3. What do you do to prepare for NaNo/TwigMo? I'm probably not gonna do it and I never have before, so...
4. Do you have a writing schedule? If so, what is it? Not really. :/

I'd probably pick strawberries. They're healthy and I could never get sick of them.
