Dairka did have her own proof; the smell on her mother. But she kept quiet, anyway, reminding herself that the memory had to have been diluted with time. Maybe it wasn't Zeon's scent after all.

That made no sense. Dairka knew what he meant by blood, but what the heck was water supposed to be in that case? The confusion was clear on her face, as she struggled for words she didn't have.

Eventually, Dairka had to stop, panting with breathlessness as a result of her exertion. "Okay . . . I guess . . . we're far enough," she got out, collapsing on the ground.
