Riverwind: I padded over to Windstep. "Do you feel well enough to take me to the place where you fought? We need to inspect the new borders and recover Ashleopard's body."

Windstep: Looking up at Riverwind from where he was laying on the ground, Windstep slowly nodded. His scratches stung slightly still, but it wasn’t that bad. He forced himself to his feet, ignoring the injuries, and inclined his head towards the camp exit. “This way - or did you want to get a few others to come, just in case?” He blinked curiously. The less cats they took, the less of a threat they’d appear, but the more they had the safe they’d be. It was decisions like this that made him glad he wasn’t one of the cats in charge here.

Windstep: Nodding, he padded out from camp. His fur bristled slightly as he led Riverwind towards the border, but he didn’t let much fear show besides. It wasn’t like they were going to get attacked again, at least, or so he could hope.

Riverwind: I followed the warrior, letting him take the lead, but I unsheathed my claws just in case as we neared the border.

Windstep: As they got towards the place of the battle, he instantly started to step more carefully, almost as if he were stalking prey - though if anyone were being stalked, it’d probably be him. “Just ahead,” he spoke, already beginning to feel uneasy. He could still smell the blood.

Riverwind: I could smell the blood as well. "Okay, thanks. You don't have to come any further."

Windstep: He forced himself to shake his head. "No, I'll come. In case they try to attack again." Not that he particularly wanted to, but he wouldn't die by going that much closer.

Riverwind: I shrugged and advanced cautiously. I didn't want to accidentally cross the new "border" and give them another reason to attack.

Windstep: Gulping, he crept forward with Riverwind. Ashleopard’s body was so close . . . yet these painfully small pawsteps were all they could manage, just for their own safety. He hated this. They shouldn’t even have to be this careful, but no, Moonclan had to be selfish and try to gather more territory.

Riverwind: I padded sadly up to the body of my dead Clanmate and gripped his scruff gently in my jaws.

Windstep: He slowly padded up to help, eyes peeled and ears pricked. With his form low to the ground, he glanced carefully around . . . were they being watched? His ears flickered, and he took in a deep breath. Hmm. I think we’re okay.

Riverwind: I motioned with my tail for Windstep to help lift Ashleopard's other side.

Windstep: Looking only slightly more composed, Windstep obligingly grabbed Ashleopard on the opposite side as Riverwind, beginning to pull towards camp. Good, nobody’s noticed us. Soon we’ll be safe at camp, too, and then we can address other problems.

Riverwind: I matched the other warrior's pace, carefully winding our Clanmate's lifeless body around trees and bushes.

Windstep: If Windstep were one to talk much, he would’ve been babbling on with relief about how lucky they were that nobody from Moonclan had seen them coming. That was why he wasn’t a she-cat. Thank StarClan, he simply thought, quietly sighing.

Windstep: It wasn’t long, but felt like moons, before they had finally got back to camp.

Spottedshadow: The moment the small patrol was back at camp, Spottedshadow - along with the rest of Shadow’s Sunclan characters - mournfully made their way, pawsteps tentative, to the fallen Ashleopard.

Snowstar: There was no missing her sad sigh as she pressed her nose into her Clanmate’s pelt. “He was a brave warrior,” she murmured, looking distressed. How many cats would they lose over border fights?

Riverwind: The rest of Ratty's SunClan cats gathered around too, waiting solemnly for their turn to say their final good-byes to their deceased Clanmate.

Windstep: He slowly made his way backwards, ears folded flat, then turned and headed away from the rest of the cats. Let them get to him first. It doesn’t matter. Sighing, he wished there was something more his patrol could’ve done. They really had done poorly - they lost both a fragment of their territory and one of their Clanmates.
Spottedshadow: After saying her own goodbyes, she was quick to get out of the way for everyone else. She was much of the same mind as Windstep - after having been there when he died, she didn’t feel right crowding him when so many other cats hadn’t even had a chance to be with him before he died. “This stinks,” she muttered as she came up beside her solitary Clanmate, dropping into a sitting position and scowling.
Windstep: Mournfully nodding, Windstep let out a sigh.

Silverpaw: Silverpaw sat crouched in the apprentice den, her limbs still quaking with all the memories from the fight. Why couldn’t I do better? she asked herself, swallowing. I failed the Clan. I didn’t do anything to help! All I did was get in the way.

Silverpaw: She only looked even more forlorn as she looked towards Shadowpaw. “I . . . guess. I just can’t believe how horrible I was at the fight earlier . . . Shootingstar shouldn’t have taken me. I only made everything worse.”

Shadowpaw: "No you didn't," I yawned. "Besides, think about it this way: It was good practice for when we're warriors and have to fight a lot more."

Silverpaw: She considered what he'd said, lowering her head a bit more. Practice . . . ? But still . . . I was so horrible . . . "I don't know about that," she mumbled, her ears angling themselves downward. "I just . . . couldn't fight. I didn't even do anything."
