Dreams and Nightmares

I let my heavy eyes shut tightly
I let my mind soar lightly
Through everyday thought and memories
A Dreamer soon to be

I find myself in a lovely garden
With roses and pansies and carnations
Blues, Reds, Yellows, Pinks...
My very own paradise nation.

I stand there
With flowing long hair
shimmering on the breeze.
Wearing my white summer dress,
My emotions a happy mess
To walk past flowering trees

A floral bouquet
Just for me
A bright sunny day
Blue skies, endless, you can see
White fluffy clouds
Floating in the sky
I take a step forward
And I hear a cry...

The flowers wither
The colors turn gray
The Sky grows cloudy
My dreamworld didn't stay

It left me
Just one thing couldn't go right.
Just like everything else in my life,
It went wrong.

How could I perservere?
I sat among the dead flowers.
My teardrops,
clear poison.

And I look around,
to hopefully find that one tiny shred
Of color in my dark world
Hanging by a thread.

I see it in the distance.
I get up slowly.
I run through the disgrace of a garden.

I head for the light
The color
The glory.

I head for the nice.
The kindness,
The story...

That I can call life
Not the past
Not the end

I keep moving forward
So maybe one day...


My nightmares will end
And I'll see the day.
