Morbid poetry from Israel
Maturity: Death, death, and more death. A couple mentions of blood.
Fantasy: Well... I'm not dead. I guess people speaking to their families after they died?
As you may know, Israel has a permanent military draft. As soon as you graduate from high school, you go to the army. Therefore, pretty much everyone knows at least one person in the army, and probably several who died. We visited some memorials and military graves and they inspired me to write some really depressing poetry. Enjoy.
Now or Never
I may not be a soldier
I will not go out to fight
But anything could happen
And I might not be all right
I’ll take this chance
To say goodbye
Because a life can end
In the blink of an eye
So I’ll say this now
It might be now or never
Because life is short
But death is forever
No one knows
What their future will hold
But it always ends with a body,
Still and cold
There’s so many ways
For a life to end
A murder, an accident
The rules of death do not bend
So I’ll say this now
It might be now or never
Because life is short
But death is forever.
Listen
Listen
The birds still sing
Live
For this sad thing
Is not
Cause for you to cry
Because
I fought, and I died
For
My country, my home
And oh,
How this short life has shone
When
I was with you
And look,
The sky is still blue.

Remember the Day
Remember the day
But do not cry
Remember me
And how I had to die
Remember the day
But do not cry
Remember me
And how I had to die
Six Feet Deep
Still and cold
And six feet deep
He leaves the world
For his hard-earned sleep
Above his grave
Tears will stream
Mouth no more to speak
Mind no more to dream
Dressed in black
The family cries
But everyone knows
That everyone dies
Do not mourn
For he left his mark
The brave soldier lives on
In everyone’s heart
Still and cold
And six feet deep
He leaves the world
For eternal sleep
Still and cold
And six feet deep
He leaves the world
For his hard-earned sleep
Above his grave
Tears will stream
Mouth no more to speak
Mind no more to dream

But everyone knows
That everyone dies
Do not mourn
For he left his mark
The brave soldier lives on
In everyone’s heart
Still and cold
And six feet deep
He leaves the world
For eternal sleep
Because She Died
The mother wept
The father cried
Everyone mourns
Because she died
The mother wept
The father cried
Everyone mourns
Because she died
Listen

The birds still sing

Anymore
Say hello to the darkness
Good-bye to the light
My fight is over
There’s nothing left
I don’t want to die
Don’t want to say good-bye
But it’s too late now
I’m on my own
I’ll miss you, I will
Will you miss me?
Because I
I’m so sorry
For leaving
Like this
But I
Just can’t fight
Anymore
I’m so tired
I’ve seen too much
The blood,
The death
How can I go on?
I don’t want to die
Don’t want to say good-bye
But it’s too late now
I’m on my own
And someday you’ll look back
And someday you’ll remember
And someday you’ll miss me
But not today
Because I
I’m so sorry
For leaving
Like this
But I
Just can’t fight
Anymore
So live your life
Forget about me
Because I
I’m so sorry
For leaving
Like this
But I
Just can’t fight
Anymore
Say hello to the darkness
Good-bye to the light
My fight is over
There’s nothing left

Wow. You did an amazing job. I especially liked the lines, "Because life is short/But death is forever" in the first one. I think I'm going to show these to my friend.

Thanks, Lucky. That's actually more of a classic line but it fits. xD Oh, really? Cool.
