Feeling her breathing start to become noisy, Dairka quickly did her best to quiet herself. Stay calm. No big deal, nothing's happened yet, and maybe he won't even show up. Maybe he's done bothering you. Yeah, maybe he is!

"Um - nothing. Getting a break from the madness," she whispered. It really wasn't a very well-functioning group of sentences, but it was the best Dairka could manage right now. There was too much fear going on.

Suddenly his scent blew into Dairka's nostrils. Her breath caught, and she flicked Nité with her tail, trying to ask if she could smell him too. But then, she could see him too, padding towards the watering hole.

I flattened myself against the sand, hoping he hadn't seen me. My heart was racing and my eyes were wide. I wasn't sure if I could force myself to do this.

"Are you ready for this?" Dairka whispered, so silent it was barely audible. It was good that way . . . nobody would hear the frightened tremble in her voice.

-----Dairka gulped, her mouth suddenly feeling dry, and not from lack of water. We can do this, we can do this. Just then their father’s scent flew into her nostrils, which flared wide, along with her eyes. Oh, shoot, here he comes! For a moment she nearly choked in fear, finding it difficult to breathe. It took all her might to keep breathing normally, to not scream in terror, and to stay still without moving. “A - attack him on three?” she suggested, her voice quiet enough that Nité alone would hear it.

((I think that’s what they were planning on doing, right? xD *no internet on the cpu I wrote this at*))

-----Dairka shot her an incredulous glance. This was no time to be making jokes! "Three," she said, only slightly louder, and forced herself to race out towards Zeon with a snarl.

I bounded after her, my tail bushed out in fright and my claws sliding out as I launched myself at my father.
I hissed in surprise but quickly regained my composure, dropping into a crouch as I faced the two lionesses with my teeth bared.

-----Her claws outstretched, Dairka tackled Zeon for all she was worth. "Trespasser!" she hissed, but couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. Maybe they were overreacting . . . ? After all, he was their dad . . .
-----No! she insisted to herself, and furiously clawed at his pelt.

-----Dairka growled as she found herself knocked off of Zeon, her stomach burning from a group of clawmarks down them. But she forced herself back to her feet, and raced up to bite Zeon in the leg, digging her teeth in hard.

Zeon hissed in pain, whipping around to snap his teeth at Dairka. I took advantage of his distraction to pounce, sinking my claws into his fur.

-----She fought against a yelp as the teeth found her pelt, and tore herself away. This is why lionesses don't fight! she told herself, though even as she knew it was true, she leapt again at Zeon.

Zeon shook his powerful shoulders, trying to loosen the grip my claws had on his pelt, but I hung fast, clinging to him for all it was worth.
