Leaf nodded, and walked out of the cave. The afternoon sun warmed the air slightly; perfect weather for an adventure. Excited, she bounded down the cliffside, looking for the tiny mountain forest near their home.

Conda followed at a modest distance, giving the wizened cat her distance but kept close enough to step in if needed. The warm air seemed to soothe his tangled and sore limbs from their nights rest.

Leaf hadn't been out of the cave in quite a long time. She stretched her legs as she ran down the cliffside; the wind felt good in her face. She came to a screeching halt when she saw that part of the rock trail had broken off and fallen into the abyss.
"Don't tell me we have to jump across..."

Conda came to a hault beside her a few moments later, "Maybe there's a way around the chasm." His eyes took in their surroundings. "Unless you can sprout wings or something else..."

"Well, I would've done so already, if I were part bird," replied Leaf, still looking at the abyss. I almost fell down there! Gotta watch where I'm going.... She looked around.
"We could try going a different route," she suggested sheepishly.

Anaconda nodded his head and skirted away from the side, "Just a thought; maybe nearly falling off of the side had blocked your thoughts." His tone was rather cheeky as he glanced back at her.

"What?!" Dew screeched, so loudly that Moon went into fight mode: whiskers pulled back, claws unsheathed, and fur rising.

"Mom . . . ? What does inbestigate mean?"

At this point, though, she was paying him no attention. "Blossom, where'd they go?! Where?! Wolf, we have to go find them right now!"

"Did you hear? There was an invasion last night! The most vicious sort of invasion ever!" Hawk suddenly blurted out, seemingly unable to help the abrupt change of subject.

"Waterfall?!" Horrifying images of two little kits getting caught in the torrent of water filled her head, and Dew raced towards the falls as fast as her legs would carry her.

Moon could only stare, wondering what on earth his mom was so upset about.

"Yeah! Of fleas!" Hawk scowled. "Wouldn't leave me alone, so I had to stay up wayyy late getting rid of them."
