Young Samurai

I started this book today, and got totally addicted. It's called Young Samurai: The Way of the Warrior by Chris Bradford, and it's amazing. The second book, Young Samurai: The Way of the Sword came out in March, but I haven't read it yet so I can't tell you anything about it. xD

Basically, this 12-year-old English boy, Jack Fletcher, is on the ship Alexandria with his father in the year 1611, on the first-ever English voyage to the Japans. They're attacked by ninja pirates just off the coast and everyone on the ship but Jack is killed. He manages to save his father's rutter, which is a rare compilation of charts and maps of the oceans. The ninjas want it, which is why they attacked in the first place. A samurai finds Jack on the beach and takes him in, and he has to learn the language and trains as a samurai so he can defeat Dokugan Ryu (Dragon Eye), the ninja who wants the rutter.

And not only is it a really good book, but it's a good way to learn simple Japanese phrases for those who're into that sort of thing. Which might only be me. But still. xD

Ninja pirates . . . *-* O. M. G. I definitely need to look into this. I normally don't really like historical books, but I may actually enjoy this one. XD Especially considering the Japanese vocabulary, because I just can't get enough of that in books.

I knowwww. It's so awesome. xD Most of the book is just regular ninjas, not ninja pirates. But still. xD It's so pwnsome. I finished the first one today at the ice rink. It honestly didn't have the most surprising ending. A bit cliché. But still awesome.

I need to go to the library again! I wanna read it so bad now. XD

I finished the second book last night. SO. GOOD.

I am so jealous of England right now. -.- The next two books are already out there (the fifth is coming out August 5) and the third one won't even be out here till next spring or something. Dx I'm thinking of seeing if my mom will let me order them from Amazon UK if we can...
