Is, I'm sorry for the way I am,

Corie had slept in--yet again-- and was closed up in her room, the windows and curtains shut, and absolutely no light coming in from the hallway. She was completely covered in blankets, a pillow over her head. One would probably think that she was some kind of nocturnal creature, what with the way she slept, and with how the lighting was in her room. Sometimes, when the light bulbs went out, the girl would barely even notice it.

And, come to think of it-- she had been like that for most of the day. She had even went to sleep 'earlier' than she usually did. A lot of things that weren't 'usual' were happening lately. For instance, Corie usually locked her door while she was asleep-- but, today, she hadn't.

Corie is thinking. "Someone else is talking." "Corie is talking."

I never really wanted you to see
The screwed up side of me that I keep
Locked___ inside of me so deep
It always seems to get to me,
I never really wanted you to GO
So many things you should have K N O W N
I guess for me theres just no hope
I never meant to be so cold.

Not too long ago, Ella Lynn had come to check on Corie. She hadn't even needed to go into the room to know something was wrong; twisting the door handle and finding it was unlocked, while she knew the girl must have been sleeping, disturbed her. The mother was good at learning a person's usual habits swiftly, and this was far from usual, from what she had deserved. Silently she had turned and walked away, going downstairs to the kitchen and starting to pace.

She could tell Noah, since seemed Noah to regard Corie as a little sister. (That thought made her smile.) But then again, what if Corie just didn't happen to be in the mood to talk with a boy? That left Taylor and Heather, in Ella Lynn's eyes. Which could she get a hold of faster?

Well, for Taylor, it might require her to stand in the woods and holler for a while. She figured that's where the girl lived, anyway. Pursing her lips, she had dismissed this option. Ella Lynn wasn't stupid; she could tell the girl was on the run for something. And being a mother--and another very understanding and compassionate human being--she didn't want to risk accidentally blowing Taylor's cover.

The final option was Heather, though it wasn't like Heather was her last resort. She knew Heather would be home, most likely babysitting her younger siblings. After a quick phone call, this was confirmed, and Heather was at the door knocking less than five minuets later. She was winded, but there.

Now Heather stood in front of Corie's door. She smoothed down her red sweatshirt, trying to make herself look more relaxed than she felt. Silently she raised her fist, pausing before she knocked on the wood. Her knuckles rapped very gently, and she spoke as they did so; "Wormie? It's me, Heather--Moony. Can I come in?"

"Talk." Think. "Listen."

Corie's body jolted slightly when she heard the knock, and the voice that came following after. Blinking groggily, she rubbed her eyes a little, practically throwing her pillow off from her head, and propping herself up on her elbow. "Yeah. Come in." She called back, coughing into the crook of her elbow as she blinked slightly, her eyes quickly beginning to adjust to the darkness that was surrounding her. She knew, however, that once Heather opened the door and the light came in, her eyes would soon hurt from the sudden change of darkness to light.

Corie is thinking. "Someone else is talking." "Corie is talking."

Heather opened the door, her eyes widening. "Yiiieeekes, it's dark in here!" she said, standing in the doorway for a moment. In this time frame Corie would probably be able to see her silhouette but none of her features. Heather rubbed at her eyes, seeming a little dazed as she shut the door behind her.

"I swear, Corie, you really must be a creature of the night." Blindly the girl stumbled forward, keeping her arms out for balance as her eyes took their sweet time adjusting. Eventually her pupils did indeed find a circumference they could tolerate, allowing Heather to see the outline of Corie's body and some of her face. Her legs brought her to standing next to the bed, and then sitting down on the edge of it.

"What's crack'a'lackin'?" she asked calmly, arching an eyebrow.

"Talk." Think. "Listen."

Corie laughed very weakly, scooting over slightly, and pulling her knees up to her chest, making some room for Heather so she could sit down properly. Tilting her head slightly, she smiled a bit in amusement, although it'd be hard to see in the current light. Leaning over slightly, she flicked on the lamp that rested neatly on the nightstand beside the bed. "That better?" She asked with a small hint of a laugh, resting her chin on her knees. Tilting her head a little bit, she asked, "What brings you here?"

Corie is thinking. "Someone else is talking." "Corie is talking."
