The Twilight Saga; Chapter 3; Something Is Stirring

"Have fun." I grinned and shoved her into the throne room.
"Hello, Casandra."

"I'm coming, Hailey." I lifted her gently and walked into the living room. "What's wrong, Jasper?"

"It's going away..." I said dreamily. "Cheese pudding...."

(I just like saying that. xD)

Cassandra did not stumble, however. She stood at the door, and bowed her head. "Hello." She greeted them politely, hoping that they had thought things over thoroughly, as in not making the decision to kill her off.

"Amanda's sick." Jasper replied, "She keeps getting the worst chills." He said, and while he talked, he multitasked by trying to make her warm still.

Jasper kept his lips there, stroking her hair, "Amanda, what cheese pudding?"

"Cassandra. There is a matter at hand that must be discussed immediatly."

"Jasper, you're going to have to move. I can't get accurate readings when there's an ice cube next to her."

"It's part of the concussion." I drifted downstairs, hearing Jasper's confused voice. "She doesnt know what she's saying. In her world, that might mean, 'I love you'."

Cassandra nodded solemnly, taking her place in the middle of the room. "Yes master." She replied with another quick nod, wanting to hear her fate and get over with it already. The sooner the better, in her case.

Jasper nodded quickly, "Yes Carlisle." He replied, quickly moving so that Carlisle could examine her properly. He paced up and down the room worriedly, holding his hand to his mouth.

Jasper smiled weakly, "Ah, I see...?" He nodded slowly, although part of him still sounded pretty confused. He kept his hand at her ehad to keep the burning from coming back.

"We have noticed that you are... close to Alec." I began slowly. "Is this or is this not true?"

Amanda was shivering quite violently. I lied my hand on her forehead. "Hmm." I picked Hailey up and handed her to Jasper. "Let's see... perhaps we try the human method for a human. Jasper... how good are you at making hot chocolate?"

"It's like a French person saying something. It may sound useless, but it may mean something different to them." I explained.
"Cheese pudding... corn cookies..."

(I iz so random. xD)

Cassandra hesitated, but nodded slowly, "Yes." She admitted at last, her head lowered slightly. Hopefully she wouldn't be asked to let him read her thoughts; then Aro would be able to see how close they were.

Hailey sucked on her thumb while Jasper held her calmly, not wanting to continue to spread his worried[ness] to her. "Um... I guess I'd label myself satisfactory, Carlisle." He said with a small smile.

Jasper nodded slowly, tilting his head at the next words that had come from Amanda's mouth. He derwoned what these words might have meant, but he said nothing.

"Do you remember the contract you signed before becoming a Voultri member?" I pulled out two wrinkled contracts.

"Close enough." I took Hailey from his arms and handed her to Rosalie, who had just walked in. "Rose, take her upstairs and tell Bella that she needs to watch Hailey for a bit."

"She's saying.... Well, cheese pudding means Jasper, come here.... and corn cookies means... I love you."
"Corn cookies..."

Cassandra stared at the papers, eyes scanning quickly over the words. "I may have forgotten about them, but now that you bring them up, I do remember." She admitted with a nod, refusing the urge to wince when she spotted her name at the bottom-- one written in another's writing, and then one written in her own spidery lettering.

Rosalie nodded, not minding when Hailey began to play with her hair. "Yes Carlisle." She replied, disappearing up the steps to go find Bella. "Bella?" She called quietly, looking around. With all the hustle and bustle that was going on, she could scarcely tell who was in which room.

Jasper couldn't help but chuckle at this, kissing her forehead. "Hopefully this new language of hers doesn't stay permanently."

[HYYYYPEEERRR!]

"Read them over. Particually the third paragraph... about being romantically involved with other Voultri members."

"Right here." I took Hailey from her. "I heard what Carlisle said... I can handle her."
"Jasper? Go into the kitchen and make hot chocolate as quick as you can. She's getting worse." I lied me hand on her forehead. "Hurry."

"It won't. Just don't try and respond, or she'll take it the wrong way."
The kiss is what woke me. "J-Jasper?" I asked, confused. "Hey... I sound normal again." I tried to get up from the bed and stand up, but my head burned the second I got to my feet. My hands flew to my splitting skull, and I fell backwards to the bed.

Cassandra read from where she was standing, not having to hold the papers or see them from a closer view. She read solemnly, "The contract states," She began, sounding like a school-student being forced to read their lines in a book over and over again. She stated whatever the contract stated, since Wormy has no sure idea what said contract states, she will just say that she read it and get on with her life. [xD]

Hailey, by now, had calmed down well enough to not want to play with Bella's hair. She tilted her head at her, "Belly!" She giggled. She made up lots of names for everyone; and Emmett, she called 'Bucket'.
Emmett has no idea where she could have gotten such a random name from.

Jasper obeyed, quickly disappearing into the kitchen, and returning a few minutes later with a cup of hot chocolate.

Jasper stroked her forehead lightly, "Lay still." He told her calmly, although inside, he was truly concerned. "Just stay awake, like Sally told you."

"As you just read, you may not be involved romantically with any member of the Voultri Guard. Why are you, then?"

"Good. Let her drink a few cups of that, and call me in about twenty minutes. And yes, I know it's a lot of sugar." I smiled lightly. "Let's hope she's immune to sugar rushes." ( )

"How long do I have to stay awake?" I tried to ask, but it ended up sounding like, "Hw ling do I hv t ta wae?"

"I--" But Cassandra's voice was quickly cut off, finding herself at a loss of words. At this point, she would be able to find her way to worm herself out this time. She exhaled, lowering her head to look at her shoes.

Suddenly, a little white mist appeared, just as one always did when maryann would come. but no Maryann came, just a short, pale youngster, looking no older than fourteen or thirteen. She had mousy brown hair that was picked up in a braid, her bangs just below her eyebrows. She had full lips, and alarmingly red eyes. She wore black MaryJane shoes, and a light brown pioneer-type looking outfit. She had her sleeves rolled up, and her hands folded in front of her. her freckles face betrayed no emotion.
Her image was flickering, however, showing that she wasn't fully there. "With all do respect," She began in a slightly echoing voice. "The contract does seem to state that as long as the affection is not portrayed to the eye, then the supposed offender is free."

Jasper chuckled, and sat down at the very edge of the couch. "Drink it, Amanda. it'll make you feel better."

By some miraculous happening, Jasper understood what she was saying. "Until morning. If you're fine by then, then you'll be able to sleep."

"Ah, but that's where we hit a little snag. Cassandra, is it or is not true that you were... as Jane puts it... 'snogging Alec'?"
(*is trying to imagine Aro saying snogging* xD)

I put the cup to my lips, watching Jasper intently. Slowly, I let the liquid enter my body.
And then I began to burn.
The hot chocolate stopped the chills, but burned me with the intensity of a forest fire.
It wasn't warming me; it was destroying me. I cried out in agony, but it didn;t do anything. My body continued to burn.

"Okay... what time is it?" I asked, actually coherent. I lied my head on Jasper's lap and looked up into his gorgeous gold eyes.

Cassandra was about to defend herself, but the other girl began to speak in her quick and calm voice.

"And, as I put it, the two were out of sight? Or were they out in broad daylight-- so to speak?" Asked the other girl, her head tilted. Of course she knew the answer; she just wanted to hear Aro speak his case.
She took another unneeded breath, and continued:
"And, dear sir, you are aware of the fact that two other members of the Volturi Guard... Afton and Chelsea, if I am correct, are mates, as well?" She asked with her head tilted.
"My power is not knowing, sir, for it is obvious."

Jasper instantly took notice of it, and pulled the cup away from her hands. "Amanda-- Amanda, are you alright?" He asked, his eyebrows knitting together.

Jasper stared back intently, his head tilted, "Four A.M." He replied with a quick nod.

"Apparently they were not secret enough, or dear Jane would not have found them." I smiled. "And about Chelsea and Afton, of course I am aware of such relationship. Do you think I do not know my own Guard? They came along before we signed contracts, and are bound by no rules."
(Aro of Snoggingness! )

"D-d-do I look alright?" I gasped, clutching my throat. The burning was still coarsing through my body, destroying everything in it's way. I couldn't fight it any more. I let my head fall [onto Jasper's lap. ] and my eyes shut, leaving me in blackness. Unfeeling blackness.

"It's technically morning." I sighed. "What am I supposed to do for five hours?" Truthfully, I wanted him to kiss me, but I wasn't going to say that out loud. Jasper would freak.

"Then it is only fair and just to let Alec and Cassandra do the same." Said the newcomer.
Cassandra was shocked at how she knew their names.
"Why don't we just let the two little ones off with a warning, and settle over it with a cup o' tea?" Asked The other girl, her voice-- Cassandra noted -- having a slight cockney accent to it. She now had her arms crossed, not a single change made to her face.

Jasper's eyes widened briefly, "Carlisle!"

Jasper gave her a light, but also passionate kiss on the lips. "Be patient, and those five hours will pass."

"My Voultri Guard will act as I see fit!" I snapped. "They are mine, and I punich them as I wish."

"I'm coming, Jasper." I walked in to the room and saw Amanda, fallen, head on Jasper's lap. "What happened?"

I smiled as he kissed me. "I was never any good at being patient." I looked up longingly.

The girl smiled knowingly, "They're not yours." She whispered, and despite her age, she looked to be very wise. "They'll never be yours." She added with raised eyebrows.
"If you find this objective, speak to Alec as well to hear his case." She suggested with a nod, "Was it Cassandra that was snogging him, or Alec that was snogging her?" She asked rhetorically, a sly looking smile on her face.
"it takes two to tango, no?"

Cassandra would have blushed if she could.

"It burned her. Really burned her." Replied Jasper worriedly, touching her forehead with an ice cold hand.

Jasper smiled, gently--and lovingly-- tapping the tip of her nose with his index finger, "Agreed." He replied, grinning at her, and giving her another kiss.

(Hehe... snogging. xD)

"She did not seem to want to stop." I informed the newcomer. "And I will speak to Alec. I was already planning to. Cassandra, come here."

I touched Amanda's hand gently, and she didn't respond. And then she started shivering violently. "I was afraid of this..." I muttered. "Jasper? Come with me. Quickly. We may not have as much time as we think."

This time it was longer. I wrapped my arms around his torso, and he seemed to support me, even as I swayed. His lips were freezing cold and rock hard, but they seemed to soften and warm on mine. I could do this for five hours and not get bored. But Jasper wasn't going to let that happen.

[Iz a funneh word!]
[We should use that word often between our Volturi RP's. xDD]

Cassandra obediently--but also with a hint of hesitation-- stepped to where Aro had instructed, her head lowered. It was almost as if she could feel an invisible blush come over her face. Aro and the new girl seemed to talk of her and Alec snogging as if it were nothing at all. Of course, thankfully, her skin was the same pale color.

Jasper obeyed, "Yes Carlisle."

Jasper kept his fingers wound in her hair, one hand cradling her head as he continued to kiss her.

"Why, I outta get my kantanas and cut her freakin' head off!" Ranted Amaya from upstairs, her voice as clear as a bell even though she was still where she was before. [xD]

(Yes, we shall.)
(The Voultri of Snogginess! )

"Give me your hand, young one. I want to see if the snogging [] is what I think it is."

"Listen to me very carefully." I instructed, pacing the room. "Amanda has a raging fever, and the cocoa just set it off more. It may seem like she's cold, but she isn't. Her temperature is dangerously high. You're going to have to trust me for this to work. You are going to have to stay with her 24/7 for her to have a chance at recovery. Now, she is going to tell you that she's cold, that she's freezing, that you need to leave. Don't listen. The fever is so high that it's making the air around her feel colder. She is going to tell you to stop. Don't stop. Don't even put a blanket around her; it will only warm her, and that's not what she needs. Stay with her until she in completly better, and even then I amy enforce it. Don't listen to her, do you understand me? It could be fatal."

I fought the laugh at Amaya's voice and continued to kiss Jasper. His lips were so tempting, so inviting, so devestatingly addicting...

(Leach/John/Sally/Amaya/all of them should totally walk in, like, now. xD)

Cassandra hesitated, almost pulling her hand back, but she thought better of it. She nodded, and obeyed Aro's orders, giving him her hand. The Maryann part went by in a sort of blur, for Cassandra had wanted so badly to just forget all of what she had said to her-- all that she had done. But it was only enough to fastforward the memory of the haunting lady.
But if you looked at Maryann, and at the newcomer, you could see that they looked alike, in a way...

Jasper nodded solemnly, "Yes Carlisle, I'll do the best I can; I promise." He swore, and disappeared. Quickly, he removed the blanket from her, and wrapped his arms around her. "You're going to be alright, Amanda, okay?"

"I've gotta bone to pick with you, mister Ackart, for not tryin' to rescue us earlier." Came a joking country voice as Leach, Toby, and Hayden appeared at the foot of the stairs.
It was the thick country accent that had earned Hayden the nickname 'Cowgirl'.

Hayden stuck his hands into his pockets, rocking onto his heels, and Leach remained where he was.
Toby reacted in no way; he just looked around awkwardly.

I waited patiently for Alec to come into the picture.

I awoke at his touch. The burning feeling was gone, replaced with the never-ending coldness. "W-w-what are you d-doing?" I shivered as Jasper removed the blanket. To my surprise, he wrapped his arms around me, something he never did when I was sick. "J-J-J-J-J-Jasp-p-p-per, w-w-w-w-what-t-t ar-re you d-d-d-doin-ng?" I shivered violently in his arms.

(Jsut an idea, but it could go something like this:
The pain of her suffering cut deep, and I wante dot let go, make her happy. But I couldn't. I wanted her better.
Or something. )

"Hello Toby... Hayden." I smiled and nodded at each of them. "Leach."

(OH! Maryann and William should....)

And, surely enough, Alec did. The rest of what happened after he found her in the hall played out, bit by bit, until they reached his room. Then it played out their little 'snogging' experience, clearly showing that Alec was the one that had kissed her first. Then it showed Jane barging in, and the memory ended as quick as it had started.

The pain that Jasper felt was probably close to indescribable. He wanted to make her feel well again; for her to be happy, but he knew that would not happen if he didn't obey what Carlisle had told him, Amanda could possibly die.
And then, she couldn't be happy or well again, could she?

Jasper pulled back, calmly saluting them.

"I see that we interrupted on... something." Leach chuckled.
