"Sweetie, we're going to get you out of here, okay?" She was sitting up and coughing. "Where are we going?" She asked hoarsly. "A hotel. That's all I can say."

Cassandra nodded truthfully, now was not the time to try and lie to him; she was smarter than that, so she chose not to. "Yes, it's true." She replied with a nod, pulling her hand back and letting it drop to her side. "Are you angry with me?" She asked.

"You have a high fever, Amanda. I know you might feel cold, but I'm going to make it go away; I promise, alright?" Jasper tried to soothe, pressing his lips to her hair.

Jasper caught her quickly, "Sorry, Amanda." He whispered in apology, kissing her forehead.

Leach was the one that did the talking this time: "Amanda, I'd like to introduce you to Tobias-- Toby, and his twin brother Hayden-- better known as cowgirl." he chuckled. The twins bowed respectfully.

"Cassandra, I expect better of you. Jane?" I called. "Please go and fetch Alec."

"Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-You'r-r-r-r-r-r-re n-n-n-n-n-not-t-t-t-t-t h-h-h-h-hel-l-l-l-l-l-p-p-p-pin-n-n-g-g-g m-m-m-m-much-ch-ch-ch-ch. [You're not helping much.]" I tried to worm out of his arms, but I was weak and sick and human, and he was a vampire.

"Thanks -ow- Jasper." I muttered, hands still on my forehead. I laughed shortly. "Where did -ow- Cow girl come from?" I leaned against Jasper, still feeling like anything could knock me over. "And why are you here-ow- at 4:15 in the morning?"

Cassandra winced at the sly smirk Jane threw at her from over her shoulder when she strode out of the throne room to find her twin. She kept her head lowered and her hands folded; surprisingly, her face was expressionless all the while. But inside, a hustle and bustle of emotions ran through her head.

Jasper stroked her hair, "Sweetheart, you have no idea how much this is hurting me. But if it'll help you get better soon; so be it."

"We call 'im cowgirl 'cause he talks like thiiissss," Toby teased his brother, mimicking his thick country accent. "And we just added the girl part because it annoys him." he finished in his own voice, grinning so wide that a pair of eerie looking fangs were revealed.

"Shutup, ya big ol' tub o' lard." Hayden replied, cuffing his twin's head. "An' we came knockin' because Akane, Gwen, and Leach came to... save us."

Finally, Alec walked in. "Alec." I said curtly.

(You play Aro now. Me be Alec. )

I wanted to protest, but I couldn't muster enough energy to shiver few another phrase that we wouldn't listen to. Instead, I lied my head against his chest and kissed his cheek.

I laughed at Toby's impersonation. "W-who got you?" I shivered slightly at Jasper's cold skin and leaned my forehead against his chest. It soothed the burn partially, but my head still hurt. "When can I go to bed?" I asked, wanting relief from the constant pain.

Aro joined his hands by connecting the tips of his fingers. "Come forward, dear boy..." He said, inclining his first two fingers, beckoning the boy forward.

"I'm so sorry Amanda, I really am." Jasper whispered, feeling as if his non-beating heart was breaking.

Cowgirl tipped his hat, "By William, of course. Maryann found us first, though; she did a good ol' job at knocking the both o' us out-- didn't she, To-bi-as?" He grinned at his brother. He knew that when someone would sound out Toby's full name, it annoyed him to no end.

Stephanie hurried along, trying to keep her speed un-supernatural and remain inconspicuous and immersed in shadows at the same time. She scowled a little bit, staring at the ground; it was much too slow. She knew she had to be looking for a car and not get in the Volturi's blacklist, though; so after a bit, Steph raised her head and paused.

Her eyes scanned the streets, taking everything in. Not many decent-looking cars were in this area . . . the best one was a bright blue Volkswagon, but it was a very old and decrepit one even at that. So with a shake of her head, Stephanie pressed her lips together and continued on. This is disappointing, she sighed mentally.

The buildings passed by. She never once left the shelter of the shade or let her dark golden eyes rest - and it finally paid off. A huge grin crossed her face when it came into her sight - a brand new, bright red Lamborgini.

The vehicle was idling beside the curb, its driver talking to a merchant on the sidewalk. Nobody was paying any attention to the valuable car; it was a very easy manner for Steph to sneak her way in and zoom off before anyone realized what was happening.

"Hey - my car!" she heard the man shouting. He was far back by now, though; he'd never see her at all, and hopefully he'd get his car back some day too. Too bad she didn't know his name . . . but at least she'd got the address of the nearest house. She could leave a sticky note on the windshield or something when they got to the airport.

Alec, who'd been heading 'casually' to the room, felt a pang of jealousy to hear Jasper speaking to Amanda. He doesn't deserve her, that disgusting vegetarian, the Volturi member thought. His lips curled away from his teeth for a moment, but he quickly smoothed his expression over before knocking on the door.

Always good to be polite.

Cassandra was wandering around through the underground hallways of Volterra, having nothing to do. She stopped, sensing someone following her. She turned around, faced with the familiar, pondering face of Maryann.
She gasped slightly, stepping back. "Leave." She whispered threateningly, preparing herself in case she was to be attacked by the unwelcome one.

"Ah, little Cassandra. Just the face that I wanted to see." Maryann laughed, stepping forward, causing Cassandra to step back. "How's the undead be treating you? I still see that your eyes are blue." She titled her head, appearing in front of Cassandra once more, tapping the tip of her nose lightly. Cassandra stepped back again. "Have you been a naughty little one? Disobeying Aro's orders?" She sang the last question, her voice haunting.

"My choices are none of your business." She replied, and then asked her own questions. "What are you doing here? What do you want with me?" She kept her face blank and unreadable.

"What do I want with you?" Maryann repeated, a sly smile on her face. "All I want is for you to be happy; I only want what's best for you." She held her arms out, but Cassandra shook her head. "Do you feel loved here?" She asked, her expression the same, despite Cassandra's refusal to fall for her mind games.

The younger one didn't make a reply, she just stood there with her hands folded in front of her, staring past Maryann and down into the hallway.

"I'm sure you feel loved by that red-eyed boy Alec." Said Maryann with clear sarcasm, rolling her eyes. "I say, if someone really loved me, they'd respect me for my choices." She commented with a slight shrug. "But that's just me."

"Leave." Cassandra repeated, feeling as if her heart was breaking again.

"I'll leave, but not without leaving you one final question." Suddenly, Maryann appeared in front of her, "Would he love you if you were human?" And then, she disappeared, leaving Cassandra alone to the dimness of the halls.

It was impossible for Jacob to keep the grin off his face - he couldn't have even if he wanted to. "Well . . . I didn't. Too busy trying to keep you from hearing anything from me," he said, laughing a little bit. His heart was pumping a very lovely warmth through him, a warmth he could only get around Chloe. The feeling encouraged him, so he slowly started walking closer to her. Soon there was a mere foot of space standing between them.

I walked forward slowly. "Yes, Aro?"

I shivered more violently, not even able to respond. Jasper made no sense sometimes. He wanted me to be warm, and now he's going to freeze me to my death, and he doesn't care. He doesn't care about me. One tear rolled down my cheek. He didn't care whether I lived or died. I was just a prop, just another human to torture. I was food.

(Edward should read my mind and try and convince me against that. Me haz plan.)

I giggled again. The twins were so funny, constantly trying to out-do each other. "Jasper... can you go get ice or something? My head is going to kill me soon." My head to much to remember that he was ice cold.

"C-C-Come in." I shivered, lying my head on Jasper's chest. He lied his hand on my forehead and sighed. "Your tempature's going up, sweetie." Jasper kissed it gently. "What are you, a secret werewolf?" He chuckled. I knew he was teasing, but I wondered. Would he love me if I was a werewolf? His worst enemy?

[Dudes, my puppy is screaming bloody murder from the bathroom.... -__-]

Aro tilted his head. He leaned forward so that he could get a better look at the boy's expressions. "Cassandra," He said through his unmoving lips, "why don't you go take your place beside Alec for me?" He asked her-- but it was really an order masked as a question.

Cassandra nodded once, and appeared beside Alec.

"I have been informed..." Began Aro, leaning back in his chair, "That you were.... what's the expression I'm looking for... snogging Cassandra?

Edward appeared over the two, a look on his face that said he couldn't believe a word she was thinking. "How could you [i[think[/i] that?" He asked, eyebrows knitting together. "You have no idea, whatsoever."

Jasper nodded, kissing the top of her head gently, "Sure thing." He replied, disappearing up the steps.

"You askin' for a fiiight, brother?" Toby mimicked his country accent again, a boyish grin on his face.

"Only if your lazy ol' rear feels up to the challenge." Replied Hayden, readjusting his hat and narrowing his eyes.

"C'mon boys, settle yourselves. There's a lady in the room." Leach pat the two on their heads.

Chloe remained still, just staring up at him with fairly wide eyes. She kept her hands folded behind her back calmly, her face betraying none of her current emotions.

(That's...disturbing. xD)


"Where did you get that information from?" I asked curtly.

My teeth chattered even more violently. Because he never does this. He would never want to kill me. At least, that's what I thought.

I lied back down on the bed, the burning sensation in my head almost to much to bear. Jasper better be back soon, or I would explode.

[Okay... he's calm now.]

"Your sister Jane." Aro replied with a single nod. Of course it was Jane; who else would it have been?

"And where on this earth did you get that idea from?" Asked Edward. of course he wasn't mad at her; he was just shocked that she would ever think of a thing such as this. "You have no idea what's happening inside of you, Amanda."

Jasper returned as quick as if she had summoned him, lifting her up gently and placing the ice pack on her head. "I'm sorry I didn't come back earlier."

"Don't beat yourself; you were only gone for....." Hayden looked down at his watch, "Five seconds."

The corner of Aro's mouth pulled up into a very slight trace of a smile. He leaned forward, his face becoming gravely serious, "I don't want anybody else finding about your... infatuations with each other, do you understand?" He raised his eyebrows, and then beckoned the two to leave. "Run along now." He said, the door suddenly opening on its own.

Cassandra felt as if she were a naughty little student being dismissed from the principal's office. She felt utterly violated at the fact Aro had so calmly discussed her and Alec 'snogging'-- which she found very disturbing, by the by. She turned around and headed for the door, waiting for Alec to come.

"These kinds of things happen to everyone, Amanda." Replied Edward, "And I really wish you would try to comprehend."

"Gotta long way to go." Said Toby, inclining his head to the side, "I can hear Amaya ranting all the way from down here."

"Don't get upset, old girl. Jane's probably jealous because she never snogged with a boy." Spoke Demetri, suddenly appearing beside Alec and Cassandra. He had a mischievous look in his eyes.

Cassandra would have probably enjoyed slapping Jane right now, but she stayed beside Alec, face unreadable. "I'm going to my room." she finally said quietly, turning invisible, and disappearing up a flight of spiraling stairs.

Jasper kissed her forehead, "It's alright," He whispered in return, "I love you." He told her in a gentle voice, "Don't talk, save your energy; alright?" He asked.

And, as if summoned, Amaya threw herself from the first step, down to the foot of the steps. "Bah! No good--" And the rest, my friends, I shall not repeat; because one: She was taking in Japanese from that point, and two: because all she really was saying in Japanese was a bunch of curses.

Stephanie pulled up in front the building with a loud screech. She rolled the window hurriedly down and called, "Jasper!" He would hear her - if he was paying any attention, which he might not be if Amanda was getting worse.

I nodded in reply, and situated myself more comfortably in Jasper's arms. Slowly, I dozed off to dream, off in another world, a simpler world, where what I wanted to happen would happen.

"Hey Amaya." I whispered, pressing the ice pack closer to my head. "You okay?" Coughing lightly, I turned towards her.

"Ah." Jasper reajusted me in his arms, and I went with no complaint. "Tell him that we are getting along quite nicely."
I moved Amanda slightly, farther away from the infatuated Alec. Surely he was lying; I didn't need my power to know that- you could see it on his face.

[You're still playing Alec, my friend. Remember your side of the deal... *voice fades mysteriously*]

Cassandra rested on her bed, staring up at the ceiling with her hands folded on her stomach. If you were to look very closely, you could see one long scar running from the small of her back, right to her heart. The scar was very faint, nothing but a simple line; but whoever saw it knew that the wound, when made fresh, was not simple, but painful. She closed her eyes, sinking into her thoughts and old human memories. Whenever she would pass over her most recent one, the one were--as Aro would probably put it-- she and Alec were 'snogging', she would feel slight butterflies.

Demetri tilted his head, nodding at her in farewell, and disappearing.

Jasper exhaled, trying to calm himself, but he soon found this impossible. He just wanted all of this to be over already; so he wouldn't have to hurt Amanda like this.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine!" Amaya replied, acting like her normal, spunky and tough self again. "She just knocked me out, is all."

"Hey." I closed -and locked- the door. "You okay?"

"Hello Jasper. Is she sleeping?" I walked slowly into the room.

"Good." I let out my deep breath. "Is... um, is Jodi okay as well?"

Cassandra's eyes opened, and she propped herself up onto her elbows. She turned her attention to the door, hearing it open, close, and lock. Then she heard Alec's voice. She shrugged a little, "I'm fine." She replied, "Just a little startled that Aro would use the word 'snogging'." She smiled faintly.

Jasper nodded, "I think so." He replied, resting his hand on her forehead gently.

Hailey was currently playing with Renesmee, expertly braiding and unbraiding her midnight black hair-- without even using a mirror. She found a random bag, and put it over her head. "I tigger!" She giggled, getting up and running into a wall. "Eep!" she squeaked.

Amaya's smile seemed to fall slightly, "She could be worse; but she isn't better." She replied quietly.

"No thousand-year-old man should say snogging." I agreed, lying my hand on her cheek. "Even if it's true."

"That's good." I smiled and walked over to Amanda. "Stay there and let me take her tempature." I lied my hand on her cheek, since her forehead was covered. "The fever's going down. Slowly, but still, she's getting better. Does she hate you yet?" I joked, taking my hand of the girl's cheek.

"You don't do it like that." I argued, finding another bag. "Like this!" I ran around and smacked into another wall.

"Can you help?" I asked Jasper quietly, my head on his shoulder. "You could calm her down. Please?" I pleaded, brushing his lips lightly with mine. "For me?"

Cassandra's heart would have fluttered if it could. She felt butterflies in her stomach again, and she couldn't help but smile in a slightly shy way. She pressed her lips to his ear, "I do so love you," She whispered at last.

Jasper struggled to smile at his father's joke, and it only resulted as the corners of his mouth twitching ever so slightly.

Hailey fell back, giggling. "That was funny!" Her giggles made the lights flicker, but they quickly returned.

Jasper brushed her lips, "I'll try my hardest, sweetheart." He murmured, standing up.

"Follow me." Said Leach, solemnly walking up the steps.
