"You should rest." Leach advised, nodding slowly. "At least for an hour. " He added. "Would you like anything to drink?" He offered, "I'm sure we have some water."

I followed obediently, my footsteps light and quick. I had to walk after him quickly, so quickly, that my loosely curled hair flowed slightly after me.

We reached the ocean, and I looked at her. "Dive."

Leach disappeared into the kitchen, quickly returning with a glass of water. "Here." He said, handing it to her. The water had become cold because he had been holding it in his hands.

I paused, looking down at the uninviting water. I looked back up at him, my piercing eyes wide. I shook my head slowly, managing to stutter out, "I--- I can't. I can't swim." I told him, feeling afraid. I had always feared drowning; but that wasn't the worst of my fears.

I held the glass to her lips since her arms were pinned to her sides. She drank slowly, and I rubbed her shoulders. "Amanda, I don't think this is the only glass of water Leach is going to get you." I chuckled. "I'm just cold." She muttered, turning over. I kissed her forehead. "Sleep."

"It's fine. Trust me. You're a vampire, Cassandra. You can swim. Come on." I took her hand. "Jump on three. One, two, three."

Leach smiled very slightly, pulling a black beanie over his head. "I can't help but wear one." He explained, "Kids at Forks High crack jokes about me being the Avatar."

I nodded, quickly glancing at our hands. If I were human, I would've been blushing-- and shivering, because I had learned that vampire hands were like ice to humans. "Alright." I whispered, shutting my eyes as tight as they would go, and jumping.

As I hit the water, I opened my eyes. The water was as clear as it could get, and, to my surprise, I found that I wasn't sinking. But something wasn't right; there was a strange smell in the water. It was as if the ocean was holding its breath.

"Ignore them." I muttered. "I've been teased a bunch. They don't know what's happened to you... they don't know you're a vampire..." I coughed lightly and continued. "Don't let it get to you."
"See?" I asked. Yes, vampires can talk in the water.

"I don't." Leach replied quietly, "I give them the solemn face." he grinned. His solemn face was pretty creepy, especially with his 'I can-see-through-you' kind of eyes,

I nodded, smiling weakly. "Yes." I replied, bubbles coming from my mouth and rising to the surface. I looked around, a slightly worried look on my face. "It feels like the ocean's held its breath." I whispered.

Leach grinned, "Ah, what a deal. I accept." He joked, chuckling a little. His previous 'solemn-face' quickly faded into that of an amused one.

I nodded a little, kicking my legs a little, and swimming after him. I asked him quietly, "Will Aro be mad?" I whispered.

I smiled weakly, glad I wasn't the only one. I didn't mind that our hands were still linked, as well. "Why?" I asked curiously, tilting my head.

I couldn't help but smile, the first time I had since I had gotten to Volterra. I continued swimming, and admitted quietly, "I missed my brother, and my sister. My mother, too." I sighed quietly, "I needed to make sure Maryann had left. I wasn't going to let her lay a finger on my brother."

"I will get you one day," Leach joked, playfully ruffling her hair.

"That's normal too. Everyone wonders what's happening behind them." I smiled encouragingly. [Is that a word? xD]
"I know you will." I giggled. "But soon, I will learn how to make a creepier face than the solemn one, and I will haunt you." I pulled a scrunchie from my wrist and pulled my hair back. "Harder to disrupt." I shivered slightly as a breeze from a window came in.

I smiled sheepishly, and I couldn't help but look away out of embarrassment. Once we reached the shore, I poked my head above the surface, feeling my feet touch the sandy floor.

"Hayden would win. He's had practice; right, Cowgirl?" Leach called teasingly. Of course he was joking about Hayden having practice with high heels. In fact, Hayden had never worn a pair of heels in his life.

I nodded, a few droplets from my bangs flying off of the edges of my hair. I followed him quickly, my clothes--luckily--beginning to dry.

Jacob laughed, relaxing a little bit, but staring at the door. Maybe Chris would come back . . . "Nothing in particular. He seems suspicious of me, though . . ." He relaxed even further as he heard he singing fading down the hall, and focused his attention on Chloe's face with a grin.

Chloe blushed a little, readjusting one of the pillows on her bed. "He's very observant. Nothing can get out of his eyes; trust me on that one." She laughed a little. "I need to go to Carlisle today for another treatment." She explained. That was part of the reason why she was up so early. "You can come, if you want." She offered.

"You can't get us in our sleep; we never sleep." Leach joked, giving her his 'solemn face' as he said this. The dark circles under his eyes made this look only creepier than it already was.

I nodded, smiling weakly. As we continued on through the streets--our skin not 'glittering' because the day was very rainy-like and bleak-- we passed by an old man selling roses. "A rose for the lovely lady?"

"No, thank you." I would have blushed if I could. Quickly, I continued to follow Alec.

"Right through here." I pointed to the entrance, and slipped in.
