I continued to fall. Why did I jump? Where was I anyway? It was getting constantly darker as I fell. Suddenly, I landed on something alive. Meluu. "I'm sorry!" I got up carefully. "Where are we?"

Kayla was wandering around, when she saw a . . . hmm. Asian wasn't really the right word, although she was pale . . . well, she was a girl. She watched her for a moment longer, and then hesitantly walked forward.

I looked up, my face broadening into a wide smile. "This is it." I cupped some water in my hand and smiled at the glow coming off of it. "It is." I confirmed, to myself.

I let my wrist slide into the cool blue water. It was freezing cold, but it soothed the burn that my wrist had been giving off. After a minute, I pulled it out. It was normal. "Thanks!" I grinned.

Like honeysuckle and geraniums blooming in the middle of winter, where hope could easily be lost. It was the source of all happiness and, ironically, most deaths of some of the greatest magicians. I trailed my hand in the water, and murmured a word. My hand exploded, into flames.

I tilted my head sideways, watching them quietly. Suddenly my body twisted and I fell to the ground coughing up blood. I glanced up, my eyes back to normal. "Alexis." I whispered, my voice hoarse just before my body convulsed again and my eyes returned to their fiery hollowed-out state.

I lay face down in the water. The second conscience had pushed mine into the back, where I couldn't do anything. I couldn't let it. Alexis was in danger, of me. Against my will, my body lurched upwards, splattering blood everywhere. I coughed and the second conscience drew a sword from mid-air. It was long and curved, and made from an electric blue fire. Wild magic.

"Here." A campfire was blazing. I grabbed the end of a stick that wasn't burning, and ran up to Meluu, touching her arm with the fire.
