-----Dairka glanced at Nité with worry, then hunched her shoulders and slowly padded into the dimly lit den. “Hi” was all she could think of to say, a tremble of nervousness in her voice.

-----"Umm . . ." Dairka shuffled her paws, then said, "We got attacked." She did hope the medicine lion wouldn't ask any questions; she'd rather tell the details to the leader before anyone else.

-----Dairka was dragging a small antelope back to camp, her expression relaxed for the first time in days. She'd gone nowhere near Zeon's border, so of course hadn't seen him, but all the same it was a relief. She was more than tired of him stalking she and Nité.

I'd just come back from a different hunting patrol, which had, of course, been right by the Makuu border. I'd been so jumpy that I hadn't caught anything at all, and very nearly scared away all my companions' prey as well.

-----Dairka glanced around the camp. A hunting patrol was just returning - ah, there was Nité. Grinning, she trotted over to her sister, butting her with her head. “Hey. How was the hunting?” she asked pleasently, her tail flicking back and forth. She wasn’teven considering fear right now, though if she’d been paying attention, she might’ve noticed that Nité was still scared over Zeon.

-----Finally Dairka seemed to realize that Nité still wasn’t herself. “You didn’t see - um - anything, did you?” she asked, terror seeping into her tone for a moment. And after they’d got so much peace . . .
