Furry-Paws

Bluejay whined, and Libby released her. "Pit bulls are great, too."

Thomas noticed her release and pounced after her, tail wagging.

"Yeah." I patted Thomas.

Bluejay barked at him. "So, where you from?" she asked, cocking her head to one side.

Libby smiled.

"Who, me?" Thomas asked, pointing a paw at himself. "I was bred in Liz's kennels."

I grinned at our dogs, then looked at her. "Are you going to the dog show coming up?"

"Oh, really?" Bluejay stood straighter. "I am a pure-bred Siberian Husky. I was born in the arctic, then shipped to an adoption place." She shuddered. "Then the pound after awhile. The humans were going to put me away forever, then Libby came and picked me up."

"Yeah. You? It's Jay's first time breeding, actually." Libby sighed.

"Oh. That sounds like a sort of depressing start." Thomas rolled over. "But I'm thinking you have a better life now?"

"I am, in fact. It's not Thomas's first time showing, but it'll be his first breeding if anyone's interested in him." I smiled and rubbed his coat. "His parents were both champions in the ring, so I'm hoping he'll be the same."

"Yeah, much better." Jay sighed and laid down.

Libby smiled. "Cool. So uh...see you there?"

Thomas smiled and wagged his tail.

"Alright. Yeah." I looked down at Thomas and clicked my tongue. He sprang up at my command and looked at me. "I'd better get going. The other dogs need walking."

"Alright, bye Liz!" Libby waved and walked away.

(At the show?)

[Yeah] I was sitting with Thomas, waiting for the Terrier group to come up. He was sitting with his head in my lap. He looked bored.

Bluejay barked, catching Thomas's scent. She ran over to him, pulling Libby down the sidewalk. "Hey!" Libby gasped. Bluejay stopped, wagging her tail. "Hi," Libby breathed.

"Hey," I smiled gently. "Strong girl." I patted Bluejay.

"Hello!" Thomas barked. He went over to her and sniffed all around her muzzle.

"Heh, yeah." Libby looked at the terriers.

"Hey," Bluejay smiled.

I looked up and saw the Terrier group coming up. "I'd better go. It's almost time." I pulled Thomas away from Bluejay.

"Bye," Thomas woofed to Bluejay.

Bluejay barked back. "Goodbye!"

Libby waved. After the Pits it was Huskies. She smiled.

[Considering huskies are in the working group, it'd probably be the huskies mixed in with a bunch of other breeds, like APBTs are in the Terrier group, and that would mean that there'd be APBTs and a bunch of other terriers in one grouping. Time-skipping a bit.] After everything had been said and done, Thomas and I ended up placing 2nd. The 1st place went to an Airedale and 3rd place went to an Irish Terrier.

(ok...)

Libby clapped. "Congrats!" she yelled.

I went over to her, holding the blue ribbon in my hand. I grinned. "Thanks."

Thomas panted and wagged his tail.

(Wait, wouldn't that be red ribbon? For 2nd place?)

Bluejay barked happily.

Libby grinned.

[oh yeah.]
Thomas grinned. "Did you see me?"

"So uh, the working group's up," I told her.

"Yeah! You were great!" Bluejay grinned at him. She took another step. "Uh...is Liz entering you in the breeding compitions?"

(O.o)

"Yeah. I heard her talking about it yesterday. She's hoping to find a suitable female today, but if not she'll breed me to a female in our kennel."

"Oh. Suitable in...what way?" Jay asked, looking at the ground.

"She has certain standards she lives up to if she's going to breed one of her dogs to someone else's dog. They're very strict." he sighed gently.

"What are they? Do you know?" Bluejay blinked.
