Stranded (Chapter Eight added)

Hah I lied again! xD Well, I guess I'll get started on the next chapter. (:

Chapter Seven: Where's Ethan?
"Oh my God," Charise said, stiffening. "That sounded like Ethan!"
"Come on, let's go find him," I said. Evan and Charise nodded, and we began running into the trees.
As we were running, I jerked my head, searching for Ethan frantically; Evan was right behind me and Charise was a little behind, but I didn't say anything.
"Ethan!!?" Charise screamed. No response. We tried calling again, our voices echoed but still no response from Ethan. I decided to stop running. Evan and Charise caught up with me, breathlessly.
"What...do we do..now?" Ev said, trying to get his breath back.
"We shouldn't split up. How far could Ethan have gone in here?! We must have missed him somewhere back," I said, looking up to the sky which was blocked by the canopy above us.
"Maybe," Charise said, unsure. "But we don't know that for sure. Either way, we have to find him sometime. He could be back at the shelter looking for us; we don't know if that was even him."
"Well, I think we should try calling to him again.." I looked around, trying to find something that could make a loud noise.
All of a sudden, Evan burst out in a screaming roar as loud as his lungs could, startling me and Char. "ETHAN!!! Ethan gosh darn it, where are you!?" He found a big rock and chucked it to the nearest tree, busting the rock to pieces with the intensely powerful force.
"Oh Ethan...I hope you're okay." Charise whispered to herself, holding her hands to her heart and biting her lip.
Once more, we heard a sharp cry, louder now, which told us we were getting closer.
"Come on, let's keep going," I suggested. "We'll find him. Ethan, we're coming!" I said and we began to run again.
Suddenly, I stopped short, causing Charise to run into me by mistake. I pointed to Ethan who was turned the other way and shaking violently. We jogged up to him.
"Ethan, thank God you're alright!" I hugged him tight but he didn't respond.
"Wh--what's wrong?" Evan asked, tilting his head.

Then, we gasped as we saw a turned over dinghy boat with a bony skeleton hand hanging out from below it.

Chapter Eight: A Real Live Skeleton?
I yelped and automatically leaped away, shaking with fear. "A skeleton hand."
"Well no duh, Nina", Evan laughed. "This thing isn't real, you guys are all sissies. Somebody had to have put them here to scare newcomers away."
"How do you know that?" I asked, scanning the dinghy boat. "How do you know it's not real? If it's not, flip over the boat and prove it. Plus even if that is fake, where are the people that put it there?"
Evan gulped. "I-I don't know if it's real or not. Let's find out..." Ethan backed away slowly to give me and Evan room. Charise stayed with Ethan, with a grave expression on her face.
"I don't think you should." Ethan said uneasy, his eyes exploding out of his head. "I tend to get queezy.."
Evan --compeltely ignoring poor Ethan's warning-- tapped the boat with his index finger like a baby examining his first toy. "Flip it over," I mumbled under my breath.
"Don't rush me," Evan replied through his teeth. He slowly grabbed the side of the boat, gritted his teeth, and flung it over, revealing the hand. It wasn't a skeleton hand, nor an arm. Charise shreiked at the sight of the old, rotten skeleton full body. His bones were a rusty color with patches of white, and shriveled up like a dried-up rasin. His head was tilted the other way and his legs were twisted. Nobody dared to look at his face. My stomach completely dropped; that feeling you got when you're on a free-fall ride at an amusement park, that one second of suspention in the air when you feel totally weightless --like you're on another planet-- right before you start dropping down to the hard ground. Ethan and Charise inched forward, practically holding onto each other for support. Ethan's face was turning a sickish green color and, we all knew what was going to happen next. Evan and I turned away as Ethan threw up all over the ground, fortunately not on the skeleton.
"Ugh, that's just nasty," Ethan sighed, ashamed wiping his mouth with his dirty sleeve. "The barf and the skeleton." I tried to stifle a little giggle.
"Well, heh heh. That skeleton is as real as can be." Charise said, backing away again, her heart racing. "I am disturbed."
"So, what are we gonna do with it?" I asked. I managed to find a stick nearby and I poked the skeleton with it.
"Well look, it's old and rotten. We can't do anything with it now. The dinghy is just great though; we can use that for a lot of things. And look, it's getting dark." Evan looked up toward the sky. "We had better head back to the shelter, and pretend that none of this happened. But somebody's going to have to carry the dinghy back so we can use it."
"Ethan, are you feeling alright?" I asked considerately, but I had a feeling he knew what I was going to ask.
"Yeah, I'll carry the dinghy back," he offered and smiled. "You didn't have to ask; I knew that's what you were going to say."
"Haha, you know me so well!" I joked and playfully hit him.
"Well, whoever was on this island before us, didn't have such luck as us." Charise said. "Poor guy."
"I hope we don't end up like him," I said, trying to hold back my sudden emotions as we turned around and headed back to the shelter.

Eek! *hides* Skeleton!

*gasp* I hope they don't die! Great new chapter though.
