Doom eventually re-appeared, grinning widely and darkly. "Dear Zephyr, my father wants you to go to him immediatly. You'll receive a heck lot of a punishment for being unable to kill anyone at the current moment." she let a dark laughter escape before narrowing her eyes at the crying Vanya.

He winced. “Oh, gimme a break! Neander’s a bloody angel! How the Devil am I supposed to compete with that!? There must be an exception!”

Castien’s mouth hinted at a frown as Doom looked in their direction. He planted himself in front of Leryssa and Vanya to keep Doom from eyeing his daughter.

Doom grinned. "My father's in charge, and you know that." she said, finally flicking her attention back to Zephyr." she then eventually gazed coldly and emotionlessly at Castien. Her grin remained, though. "I just want to hold you daughter for a moment.."

Leryssa held Vanya tightly against her.

Neander ignored everyone there and sauntered toward Castien and his family. He snatched Roperi’s body out of Castien’s grasp and and nestled her in his arms, moving out of the picture and setting her on the ground a few yards away. Tears burning behind his eyes, he sat cross-legged beside her and sighed.

“Not a chance!” he snapped at Doom. “I don’t want my daughter crucified, thank you very much! What made you think that there was even a likeliness of me giving her to you!?” His tone was shrill, icy venom with a fragment of vague disgust and even a tinge of hysteria.

Zephyr disappeared to face his punishment back in the Underworld with an irritated sigh.

“How stupid do you think I am?” he groaned, turning his attention away toward Leryssa and Vanya, his back at Doom. “Stop crying, Vanya... Please,” he cooed at her.

Doom hissed loudly.

Vanya slowled her crying, and turned over in her mother's arms so she could look at her father. "Dawddy!" she giggled, reaching her hands out for his face.

Doom eventually faded out of the scene.

Leryssa carefully leaned forward, gently kissing Castien.

Castien acted on impulse and closed his eyes, still caressing Vanya’s face delicately with his fingers. When he pulled away from Leryssa the corners of his lips were being tugged by a much larger smile than before.

He revolved his torso to flick a glance in Neander’s direction. “Poor guy...”

Neander, crouched, felt completely stored away into his own, personal sensory-deprivation chamber each time that Roperi died. He knew she wouldn’t come back this time, though. Death was at bay by inches... And just took over everything. He knew he couldn’t offer directives to fate, and this was just the path it had to take...
