God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

Holly’s backpack felt heavy on her shoulders as she stood on the marble steps of the front of the school. Yeah, she’d come early today. About a half hour early, to be exact. Feeling anxious about the first day, and irritated with her mother’s relentless questioning, Holly left the house in a hurry. Now that she was here, she wished she’d stayed at home.

Sighing, she placed her bag on the step, and sat down. She’d already made it halfway. Freshman and Sophomore year were behind her. Those were two years in which nobody had discovered her secret. She could make it two more years…right?

Becca's secret hadn't came out since she started school. She was grateful, even though there were others with a secret. Her best friend Tyler Lust had crushed on a girl named Holly, but soon got over it. He moved on to Becca, but told him to look for someone else. She didn't want to risk killing him.

God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

Holly checked her watch. She still had some time before the other kids began arriving to school. Sometimes, you would get one or two students who came early. There was one girl, Becca, that Holly hoped wouldn't show up. Not that Becca had been mean to Holly or anything, but she always got a certain vibe from that girl....as if, she knew Holly's secret. Or maybe she had one of her own.

OOC: Oooh, I really like the picture in your template! ~~But how do you get the fonts to stay? When I copied from word, everything changed back to default size and colour.~~ I FIXED IT.

God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

There was a noise. As if, someone was coming closer. Holly listened again. Someone was there, but whoever they were, they weren't taking the normal route to school. It sounded like...they were walking through the woods. Holly tensed.

Normal school kids didn't walk through the woods. None of the girls here would want to, anyway. Their cute little miniskirts would get torn, or they'd step on a bug, or something. And she didn't think any of the guys were the outdoorsy type. So, who then?

She sniffed the air, her nose keener thanks to her wolf blood. She picked up a vaguely familiar scent, but couldn't pinpoint what exactly. It smelled like a vampire, but Holly shrugged it off. Vampires don't come around here.

Werewolf. Becca's nose flared as she did smell it. Automatically, her whole body froze and went invisible. Leaves rustled past the frozen body, as she took a step forward.

God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

This time, Holly jumped. Silence. Sitting back down, she swore under her breath. She knew someone was there. She'd heard the leaves rustle, and she'd sensed their presence. They may be gone now, but Holly knew they were here a moment ago.

Then it came over her, stronger than before. The vampire scent. It's sudden presence almost choked Holly, but she managed to block it out. Why am I smelling that?! she thought frantically.

God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

She gritted her teeth. This voice wasn't real; well, quite frankly, it couldn't be. There were very few times she'd transformed near school, and she was sure nobody was there. It's early in the morning, and I'm still dreaming, she decided.

But Holly was still startled, and she lashed out to the side where the voice was. It was an instinctual move, done without any thought, so Holly was suprised when she hit something.

She gasped. "Don't touch me." she hissed, her head popping into color with the rest of her body. Thank goodness she was wearing a hood. The only thing seen in the hood were a pair of glowing red eyes.

She did a double-take when the hooded figure appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Holly couldn't see who was under the hood-nor could she recognize the voice- but she could tell from the figure that it was a girl. Probably an upperclassmen, judging by the height and stature.

"Well, sor-ree, princess," spat Holly, her brown eyes boring straight into the creature's red ones. "Maybe you shouldn't sneak up on people and start accusing them of being monsters."

Holly took a step back. It was her.

Becca.

That one girl Holly had always found mysterious. At least, now she knew why. But no ordinary student would've noticed the signs that Holly was a werewolf. She never averted her eyes from Becca's....those eerie, red eyes of hers, though they were purple now....wait, red eyes?
"Vampire," she muttered. Holly didn't know whether Becca heard it, but if she was a Vampire, she probably did.

God it’s so Painful, when something’s so close….

"Or we could just forget about the whole thing and be friends," Holly suggested half-heartedly. She would love to turn into a wolf right now, and rip at that little demon's throat and be rid of the problem. But, at the same time, Holly knew she just couldn't. Becca had a secret like hers, so probably had friends like hers, too. Maybe even a family.

Plus, murder would look pretty messy on her college applications if word ever leaked out.
