A Poem A Day!

Frozen

A boy on a bike,
A girl sitting on his handle bars,
Hair flying,
Head back,
Eyes dancing,
Laughter.
The sounds of early spring,
Birds,
Someone shouting,
"Smile!"
The flash of a camera,
The tell-tale click,
And the love, a photograph, is frozen in time.

Shivering,
Eyes lids heavy with sleep,
Desperation.
Seeping red,
Marring the perfectness of the snow.
Jarring,
Wrenching,
Pain.
Cold winds,
Beautiful snow,
Only bringing fear and paralysis.
Eyes shut, lips blue.
And a life, cut short, frozen in time.

Happiness,
Flooding everything with a warmth,
A birthday cake,
Children laughing.
"Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!"
Flashes of color,
Laughter and singing.
A hug.
Another and another,
Bursts of ecstatic noise.
Innocent joy.
And the memory, etched forever in your mind.

Frozen in time.

[There's some violence in this one...]

Freak


I could've sworn I was wide awake,
Sitting quietly on the couch.
But the next thing I knew,
I was alone in a cage made entirely out of glass.

And people passed by me,
Laughing and pointing,
Studying me.
"Freak!" Someone shouted.

I could barely hear them through the glass.
"Why?"
"What's wrong with her?"
Another asked curiously.

"Can't you see?
She's not like us!
Different.
Strange."

Anger raged through me.
I walked up to the wall.
I hit it with my fist.
I shouted.

"Hey!
Hey!
I can hear you!
There's nothing wrong with me!"

The crowds drew back,
Shocked,
Pulling children away,
Covering their mouths.

"Security!"
Someone shrieked.
"What's wrong with her?"
"What's she doing?"

My face turned red.
My blood soared,
Red hot through my veins.
I kicked the glass.

It shattered.
I jumped out,
On to the path.
"Help!"

Screaming now.
"Security!"
Men came towards me carrying guns.
Pointed at my chest.

"Get back in the cage,
Freak."
"Get away from those humans."
The pushed me back.

"No!
I'm not a freak-"
Bang.
Bang.

Blood soaking my chest,
I stumbled backwards.
"Why?"
"Why?!"

"We don't want you here,
Freak.
People could see you are different."
A guard hissed in my ear.

He kicked me backwards.
"People can't know,
That they can be different.
Different like you."

He sneered as I bled.
"For safety,
You see.
Everyone must be the same."

"NO!"
Bang.
Bang.
My eyes slipped shut.

I woke up on the couch.
Breathing hard.
I touched my chest.
No blood.

No.
But a wound.
And I was changed.
I will be different.

I am a freak.

The world,
Clashing and banging,
The constant media stream,
The bright flashing lights,
Instant headaches disguised in neon glows.

The constant multi-tasking,
In your face,
High speed,
Connectivity.

And behind our technology-rich backs,
They are at work.
Robbing us,
Of our liberties,
Because we don't bother to look up.

The glowing faces of phones...
Computers...
TVs...
They suck us in.
They brainwash us.

LOOK UP!
Can you here me?
The time is now,
We are the future of the world.
Us children, hypnotized,
By what ever screen they put in front of us.

LOOK UP!
Don't let your future slip by,
Be taken away,
Because we would not fight back.

We may be small.
But we can make a heck of a lot of noise.
And everyone will hear us.
Because WE are the future.

A lot of people think it's like Abe, though with a V instead of the B. It's actually pronounced like... Avvy or Avvie. An A, as in apple, and then vee. Avee. xD

Adults are brainwashers. They deserve to die, and then the rest of us can all go off to Neverland before we turn eighteen.

x3 That was an epic poem. "hypnotized by whatever screen they put in front of us" is a particularly great line, I think, cus it's so true. xD Screens are hypnotic.
