Yvonne was relieved when she felt the soft sand beneath her feet. She looked around. Almost everyone was asleep, the rain must have not really affected the camp, or maybe it didn't reach them at all. Yvonne observed the sky . . . it was dark, with no stars, except for an occasional shooting star appearing and disappearing. She figured it was about 2:00 a.m.

Letting go of Nick's hand, she pranced over to Shantaram, who was standing still, sound asleep, and gave him a light stroke on the neck. Yvonne ensconced herself on the ground and lay back, placing her hands behind her head and closing her eyes.
