Chapter Ten
Dreaming of a Cliff

They didn’t lock me up in a cell, like I’d expected, and my friends had been taken somewhere else. I sat alone in a stone room with a bed and a heavy wooden door (which was barred from the outside) and a wardrobe with a silvery mirror on the outside. I hadn’t seen a mirror in three years, and even back then, rarely, so I stood in front of my reflection, critically staring myself down. I was certainly taller, and I definitely looked older. My legs were longer, stronger; my skin more tanned. My childhood freckles had disappeared, and my eyes seemed a whole lot greener than I remembered. I turned away before I had to see the other part of myself though – the part that was scarred and ugly from my recent life experiences. I sat down on the floor, and for the first time in years, I cried.
They were tears of frustration, of anger, of loss – all the pent up feelings that I hadn’t dared release when I was with the others on the way here. And then I began to wonder why I’d been brought here. Why does the Inspector want to see me? I wondered, remembering his cold yellow eyes. What did I do that’s worth capturing my band especially? And why me, in particular? No one answered, as I had expected, of course.
I lay back against the floor and wiped a hand across my face; it returned to my side with the hot wetness of tears on it. I shivered, closed my red eyes and slept.
And as I slept, I had a dream.
Lilly, Toby and Mer. They stood clumped together at the edge of a cliff, shivering with tortured cold and fright. I looked at them, more tears sliding off my cheeks, but I couldn’t move. My feet were frozen in place.
I saw the Inspector behind them, a long dagger in his hand. They didn’t see him: I tried to call out and warn them, but it was no use. They were oblivious to my cries. The wind blew harder, and dark clouds scudded across the sky. They obscured the sun in a matter of minutes and in the eerie light, I saw that the Inspector was even closer to my friends than before. The wind scattered my final cries into nothing. The man stood directly behind Mer and gave her a mighty push with his hands. She stumbled over the edge, and then one at a time, so did Lilly and Toby. They were gone. Turning to me, the Inspector smiled.
I woke sweating and nervous, not knowing what to make of the horrible dream. I helplessly sat up and rocked back and forth, waiting. Because I knew they would come for me sooner or later, and I wanted to be awake when they did.

Definitely. They're so awesome, because you can put in premonitions or subconscious warnings, and anything can happen. cheesy

Something weird I've noticed is that all of Kayla's dreams in Dragon Soul end up coming true. xD Maybe not word for word, but the general idea always happens. And she hasn't noticed it yet.

I feel so evil. My plotline is extremely... cruel, to almost everyone. [I'm fairly sure that Ruby gets the best of everything, but anyways... ] Oh well, I suppose it's interesting. and this next part shall be fun. Very Happy
