After the hatch door had been swung open, Yvonne peered cautiously into the dark hole.

"There's a ladder . . ." she noted. " . . . should I go down first and check it out?"

Yvonne watched as Nick disappeared into the depths. She turned around abruptly when she felt the presence of someone behind her. Yvonne sighed, relieved to see it was only Shantaram, who was holding a mango in his mouth.

"Smart boy . . . merci . . ." she told the horse, and took the mango, realizing she hadn't eaten breakfast yet.

Nick dropped down onto a cold, hard floor, almost spraining his foot. Once his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he glanced around. He is was in a relatively big room, with what seemed to be hundreds of telelvision screens surrounding him.

Yvonne jumped off the end of the ladder, and regained her balance. She walked over to the televisions. They were all on, but none showed an image, they simply showed black and white fuzz. Yvonne turned around and spotted the small bathroom. She sauntered over to it, turned on the light, and began testing the sink's hot and cold water.

Nick followed Yvonne down the ladder, but tripped when he hopped off. "Great..." he muttered as he attempted to pull himself up. When he succeeded in standing, he glanced around the room again.
