Suddenly, Alex pulled up the van and stopped, hard. "OUT!" she said. Heather grabbed Xavier and hauled him out of the van.

(-gasp- :O I wouldn't know what to change it to, though. Unless it was mind-reading, but...)

Addy and Martin rushed out of the car as quickly as possible.

[Mm, Telepathy ^^ it's quite handy for a book, but I've found it's impossible to actually DO any mind-reading unless it's your own character XD.]

Alex ran over to a large tarp and pulled it off. It was long a very long canoe, but with a balancing sort of thing attached to two polls on one side.
"Everyone in, quickly!" she said, glancing behind her.

"You guys, see that Island over there?" asked Alex, knee-deep in the water, she pointed. The wind was harsh, and the waves where large. "That's your Island."
"There's two islands?!" asked Heather, holding white-knuckled to the edge of the boat.
"Yes. Now GO!" she shoved them off.
Heather picked up a paddle, and tried hesitantly to get through the choppy waves.

It was raining. Poring, actually. The waves where really rough. Heather handed the paddle off to Xavier, because she could bearly let go of the paddle of fright. She hated storms - and to be out on the water like this was so much worse.

(Well, I'll try. Ooh! Let's have Amber get lost in the forest. )

Amber rushed through the forest. The leaves and ferns brushed harshly across her face as she ran. She didn't know what to do, she just ran. She was only a child, she couldn't die here. Amber decided then and there to find food and shelter herself. Of course, she didn't know how this would help her, rather than being with more experienced adults. But she decided, and was not turning back. Not yet, anyways.
